Wow! Come up with that one all on your own? Given the strictures of the Production Code at the time, most would pass in most instances. The only real hitch is the lack of non-European males in prominent positive roles.
Well, if you take it seriously, you can trace the FEMME FATAL archetype back to Eve in GENESIS. Her, the apple, Adam, temptation, downfall, etc... It's all there if you want it.
I think his interpretation of this has some merit. They were made during a time when Americans were in unrest because of the depression. These could be seen as allegories to say just that. Don't do anything too rash I know you are so easily tempted but look at how it plays out. But it could also be interpreted as a fantasy to break out and fall to this side of the tight rope being walked then. I mean to say I understand his thoughts. But as art, that's only one way to portray it, of course. What is it that you disagree with?
*Research please! Not a POTENTIAL client! Indemnity's Neff first arrives there because the husband's already held insurance has run out. 💥It says so directly in the dialogue.💥
The conclusion of the video It's very poor, and kind of infuriating. Don't proyect your stupid political viewpoints on these classics. I mean, that is such a lame way of making an art analysis. Also the femme fatale archetype is far more complex than you think.
Sorry sir, you try hard but lack real insight. Study other Noir posts; learn how the grim WW2 impacts & women's newfound power affected Noir constructs. You can do better.
Great Video!
Excellent video thank you
Neff is not an insurance investigator. He is an insurance salesman. Keyes is the investigator.
"Films from this era would not pass the test of contemporary identity politics."
Yet another point in their favour.

Film Noir as a tool of ‘social containment’ is the worst interpretation of the genre I’ve ever heard.

Hey, I'm trying to learn, but do you have any counters to his critique.
What are you talking about??
All the political viewpoints are stupid except for yours. Yours are smart.
