I would love to see the hook of the week again. I feel that if you streamed a video once a month you would get a lot of people in the chat and watching, I know I wouldn't miss it!! I think most people connect to you John, because you have that old world qualities about you.. Your are humble, kind, caring and honest. In a world where everything seems to be so fake, your passion for the art of blacksmithing is undeniable. Myself, I have learned more from you and continue to learn, then I ever could have on my own! I Know I am not a blacksmith yet, To me, "a master is someone who has given up on learning." As you said in your last lock video, "it's a learning curve, go back to the drawing board and think about it." I have that same stubbornness quality, that's one of the reasons I love the art of blacksmithing, every piece I craft I can see visibly my progression in hammer control. I can never say thank you enough times!! The craft of blacksmithing really has changed my life in so many ways...

John I like the idea of doing small technical projects. Could be hooks, handles for wooden trays, drawers, boxes etc. Small box hinges, a joiners wood chisel. Also animal heads, they could be on the hooks or bottle opener. Two personal ideas: a rams head with hammered horns, not twisted. Also is an easy way/ratio to work out the length of steel for a small project like the tray handles? I'm currently trying to make a pair of simple handles for a wooden tray I've made. Three attempt have ended up in the scrap bin. I'm on the forth attempt now. I'm now using 5/16 or 7.9mm square. The tray is 17mm thick. So to get the ends the same size ready for screw hole I'm making a wee jig to hammer the steel into to get the shape & one for bending the handle shape. I just find it hard working out the starting length of my stock steel😢. Some tips be great on that. Sorry for the long explanation. I'm Irish, what can I say! 😅

I would enjoy seeing a revitalized hook of the week like mini series. It doesn't have to be regular, but as a new and learning blacksmithi have appreciated your teaching style and practical approach to different techniques. Seeing more complex with an eye for detail has helped me push what I do further. Even though I'm doing basic stuff so far, seeing some of the more advanced ideas has been helpful.

    Scrap to profit series…
John, when I lived in Buena Vista, I lived across the street (Cedar St.) from a blacksmith. Though I can’t remember his name, the art subliminally captured my desire. So here I am 12 years later and many miles from Buena Vista, creating with iron and steel. I’ve always loved your content. Forget the haters, do your art my friend. Thank you for all you do.

l also loved Hook of the week , helped me immeasurably in the beginning. ( copied plenty ! ) We all know you can do very creative and complicated work , but your forte is "teaching" , ( not all top smiths can "teach" ) , and not all who watch you are experienced so a mixture of Simple and Complicated would be ideal. keep up the good work , always enjoy your vids. Thanks for the effort you put in John , you have helped many new smiths and deserve much credit for it. Legend.

I've commented it before, and I'll comment on it again, PLEASE BRING BACK HOOK OF THE WEEK!
Your hook of the week series literally hooked me on your channel. I was inspired by you using your "bucket of useful items" (not junk!), and has inspired me with ways to use up my own scrap metal that I've been collecting ever since I was interested in blacksmithing.
I love your channel and I'd love to see a regular hook series pop up again. Don't tell me that you don't have any more buckets of usefulness rusting away outside... 😂

I appreciate and love hooks! Minimal material, and tools required. I am not a blacksmith but can improvise your hook ideas and make some for personal and family use using a torch and hammer on a hunk of steel. I wish I had gotten into blacksmithing and machining earlier in life. Watching videos on You Tube after retirement have inspired me to open the doors a smidgen into those trades. When younger, I think I could have been pretty good at either (or both). Thanks.

I would like to see a return to Hook of the Week. It’s nice to see other people’s take on making what is a deceptively simple project. Thanks John!

I love any of your videos! I think hook of the week would be awesome if you could bring it back in any format you can make work
