It's much more old school because they're older. They have a more classic hip hop vibe due, most likely, to it's leader Tablo. He's the one that was rapping with the roaches. He's a Canadian-Korean and he's incredibly smart and gifted. He'd been acknowledged musically since his teenage years and was a coterminal student at Stanford. He's a lyricist, producer, rapper, and has his own label called HIGHGRND. I only knew of him mainly because I didn't discover him until he was on this show "The Return of Superman" where a crew would film as Tablo and other celebrity dads were left with their kids for 48 hours while their wives are away. He's since left the show, but that was actually how I discovered him, despite him being apart of YG entertainment, a company I loved due to other groups that are signed under it.

It’s k-hiphop, not k-r&b, but I highly recommend sik-k’s song “party” because it’s such a bop. My favs from k-r&b are Heize (you should check out her collab w/ DEAN called “& July”), Crush (his song “woo-ah” is clean af), and Zion T. (who is so, so unique. I’d recommend his collab w/ GD called “Complex”)

They tried to make a hook for this song that they really like,
so they asked the young 17yr old B.I/Hanbin (iKON) in white overall, to help.
According to them, B.I came in, did his thing as swiftly as possible and left the studio.

Tablo (mentioned in a previous comment on here but he graduated from Stanford, first rapper with the roaches), Mithra Jin (the guy with all the food), and DJ Tukuts (the guy mixing) are the only ones actually in Epik High. The first one to rap, Tablo, born in 1980, Is actually not Korean, but Indonesian, but he is born in Korea tho. He also has a daughter born in 2010 and is married to a Korean actress. I actually got to know Tablo and Epik High through a Korean Tv show called " The return of superman" where Korean celebrity dads are left alone to take care of their kid(s) for 48 hours or so. I turned out to really like his and Epik High's music. they are super talented!

Epik High are one of those cases where they're revered and respected by their peers, but tend to get left out of the conversation a lot by fans. They're more than just a hip-hop band - they can put their spin on nearly any genre and pull it off beautifully. I'd love to see you guys do some of their more soulful stuff like "Home Is Far Away" (featuring the amazing vocals of Oh Hyuk and just such a beautifully stirring video) . . . more maybe the live clip of "Here Come The Regrets" (featuring Lee HI - a soulful RnB joint that sounds like hip-hop mashed with Adele for a James Bond theme or some shit - just awesome).

The stuff they have in the stall with them is representative of what they are rapping about. Their haters and what they've been hated on about. Tablo probably had it the worst to be honest, hence the roaches in his stall.
Epic High consists of 3 guys, 2 rappers (Tablo and Mithra Jin) and DJ Tukutz. You can see all three together towards the end of the video they are the ones sitting around the kid rapping in all white. Otherwise, Tablo is the first rapper in the video and Mithra Jin is the dude eating all the video during his rap part. Everyone else is featuring. Verbal Jint is the one with the porn magazines, Beenzino is the one with the sneakers and girls, Mino from Winner is the kid with the bats and leather jacket, Bobby you know is from Ikon (he had not debuted with them yet but recently one a rap battle show hence all the trophies and money) and lastly B.I. also from Ikon is the janitor in white all throughout the video.
Epic High has been around awhile. They've influenced a lot of k-hip hop and also k-pop rappers. Suga from BTS says he decided to be a rapper after hearing Epic High's Fly song for example. Verbal Jint is also amazing. Beenzino always has fly songs. These are all k-hip hop artists you should check out.
First off, I totally recommend you guys going and watching a lyric video or reading the lyrics. They're actually really incredible and they kinda go off tbh. Second, you guys talked a lot about how each guy has his own thing in the music video. That's done on purpose. Each rapper represents one of the seven deadly sins: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. When I first figured that out my mind was blown and it made the concept of the video even cooler.
Just to give you guys a better understanding of those in the song/video...Epik high is made out of 3 guys. Tablo (first rapper), Mithra Jin (fourth rapper) and DJ Tukutz (the DJ). They're legendary in the Korean music industry and have been around since 2001. They are a hip hop group but are very well known across the board in Korea. You should definitely check out their other stuff. Their latest album, We've Done Something Wonderful, is incredible and was personally one of my favorite releases of last year. The other rappers are all either solo or in groups. Beenzino (second rapper) is a solo artist and is big in the k-hip hop scene. He's got some great stuff as well. He's currently inactive as he is serving his mandatory military service right now. If you're unaware, in south korea males have to serve at least 2 years in the military. Male artists leaving the industry to serve is normal thing however they tend to push it off as long as they can, typically until their late twenties as the dead line to enter is I believe 30 (someone correct me if I'm wrong thooo). Verbal Jint (3rd rapper) is another legendary musician in Korean music. He's been around since 1999 but officially debuted in 2001 and is credited as the rapper who brought rhyming or rhyme-work to Korean rapping. Before he debuted, Korean hip hop essentially lacked rhyming and Verbal Jint was the first rapper to create rhyme schemes in Korean. He's pretty iconic to say the least. B.I. (chorus and last rapper) and Bobby (6th rapper) are from the k-pop group called Ikon. You guys have reacted to them a few times with Love Scenario, Bling Bling, and B-day. In Bobby's verse, he's shown having like a wrestling belt. This is because he won the 3rd season of the rap survival show in Korea known as Show Me The Money. You guys have reacted to Bobby before with his song, Holup. Mino (5th rapper) is from a kpop group called Winner, who I believe you guys haven't reacted to. Bobby and Mino also have joined together to form the subgroup, Mobb, who you have reacted to as well with their song, Full House.
Epik High, B.I., Bobby, and Mino are all under YG Entertainment. YG is one of the Big 3 Companies in Korea and is known for having a more hip hop/rap driven sound for their groups/artists and house many iconic and legendary acts and musicians, such as CL and her group 2NE1, G dragon and his group Bigbang who are the kings of kpop, and PSY. Epik High is like the top class of k-hiphop. they're legends. there are 3 members, the man in the orange suit- DJ Tukutz, the rapper with the bugs-Tablo and the rapper with the food- Mithra Jin. They are extremely talented both music and lyric wise, please watch with subtitles too. the video has 6 rappers and the DJ, they're representing 7 deadly sins. and the lyrics are glorious, they're dissing their haters, one of my favourite verses are beenzino's (the guy with nike boxes) "why should I discuss music with you, the only thing you know is click around with mouse. man fuck you, no fuck your ID, no fuck your IP, man I'm sick of y'all geeks, you can never reach this level, y'all think this is your dream, my vehicle's foreign and my bitches modelin'" lmao so savage.

It looked like "iphone format" because it was actually filmed with an iphone. every single room was a sin except for the boy in all white that was "pure" and was tempted by the others. every single one of them talks about the struggles they had with haters. Epik High was and still is a huge inspiration for a lot of idol rappers that debuted and are debuting now
