There were ONLY two Wrestlers André René Roussimoff admitted he feared. Harley Race And Haku. Not in any order. Just that Andre feared them.

Even though Harley Race wasn't the tallest or biggest wrestler but you could tell he could kick ass. I was at a bar during the Houston wrestling era and when Harley Race walked in the look on his face said fuck around and find out.
He also seemed to be a really nice guy telling wrestling stories and dirty jokes. Hell even when he managed Vader he STILL looked like he'd leave you face down in a pool of blood if you fought him. As many people said there were only two men Andre The Giant feared Haku and Harley Race enough said.

That is what made that match in that era 99% of fans were clueless. Andre had been slammed many times before WM 3. What was Andre gonna do tell Harley no.?

yep, Hogan was not the first. An example (of just one) was Strong Kobayashi. In an IWE match (05/6/1972)

And yet you never heard Harley spend decades going on about how "Andre passed the torch to me, brother", or how Harley tore every muscle in his back, or how he wasn't sure if Andre was gonna let himself get slammed, etc etc etc. It's sad to me that a real worker like Harley gets a brief pop in some dark building in front of a few thousand fans while a narcissistic career manipulator like Hogan is a mega-millionaire whose slamming of Andre is celebrated as the greatest act of human achievement since Moses delivering the Ten Commandments (something Hogan has probably also claimed to have done).

It's sad to ME that there are always people going on about how annoying they think Hogan is, while not realizing how tiresome they themselves are with the anti-Hogan comments. This obviously wasn't a passing of the torch, just a moment and a video to be enjoyed. I don't recall Hogan making the comments you cited constantly on TV -- just occasionally when asked, and with respect for Andre. There's nothing wrong with that.

@@ryuhayabusa6776 Hogan has taken every available opportunity to talk about the importance of the Andre slam at Wrestlemania III and how it was, to him, an iconic passing of the torch. You'd have to go out of your way NOT to hear him discuss it in this way.
As for comments about Hogan himself you're perfectly allowed to find them annoying but at least mine aren't about how great I am as I bury everyone else in my own profession.

@@MiketheratguyMultimedia I've heard plenty of Hogan's interviews since March 29, 1987. He has not taken "every available opportunity." He's mentioned it when asked, while simultaneously giving respect to Andre. He's also expressed respect for Flair, Hennig, Triple H, and others. He also did a lot of notable jobs in the last big years of his career (Goldberg, Rock, Triple H, Angle, Lesnar, et al).
I'm not saying that Terry Bollea has no ego, because he clearly does, sometimes justifiably so, but you're exaggerating, and it's ridiculous to see only the negative in someone while conveniently overlooking the positive.

@@ryuhayabusa6776 Hogan is an arrogant SOB who only truly cared about himself. Multiple times he has been asked to lose to other wrestlers and because if creative control - very much refused. Harley Race and Ric Flair are well beyond him in terms of talent and longevity. And yes, he will talk about the Andre slam like he is the only guy to have ever done it. My opinion - the greatest ever are Race and Flair. I don't recall ever seeing Hogam wrestle for an hour against the biggest names in wrestling.

Andre was way more agile and able to take moves back then. I think Harley's and Kamala's body slam of Andre was WAY more impressive than Hogan's.

@@georgejackson4426agreed, in hogans defense Andre was about 500 lbs of dead weight at that time, but the slam was kinda unimpressive even when I saw it as a kid. Savage Vs Steamboat was what was most memorable to me.
