Good to see you back after a wonderful trip, judging by the pix at the end - all your hard work to make a beautiful special experience for your daughter (and you, too, of course 😄) paid off! It might be fun to frame the Advance pattern either for the kitchen or your sewing room, if you're so inclined. Addie is going to be thrilled with that little sewing machine!!!

I'm so glad you all had a good time... it's been soooo hot down here (I live south of Tampa just a couple of hours from Disney) but at least you missed the rains? You and Addy look so great (and happy!) in everything you made. Great thrift haul... the machine is too cute! Looking forward to your video of the trip to the fabric store.

Yes, we missed out on the rain! You always think of Florida as getting a little rain every day but we didn’t have a single drop our whole trip. It was very hot on several days, but we so enjoyed the pool and stayed in the cool camper for naptimes during those hottest portions of the day. It all worked out perfectly!

I’m so happy to see you back. You were missed ! I’m glad you had a fun vacation. I have made at least a dozen zippy bags. Sallie tomato’s TH-cam tutorials are the best. I started using her hardware. But iVe made so many I now order from Wawak. They have great hardware and metallic Nylon zippers and pulls in so many colors. It’s a whole new hobby. Now I need to make my sandhill sling pattern.

Are you participating in the Shop Hop this weekend, Carol? A lot of our local southern Indiana shops are participating, like the Stitching Post in Washington and Let’s Sew in Evansville. It’s mostly centered around quilting but its always fun to visit the different shops. They have sales and goodies usually during the shop hop. I wish I could attend, but we’re camping this weekend. Didn’t plan that out very well, did we, haha!

Hi Tiffany. Welcome home! What happy times you had at Disney World. I especially love the mommy and me dresses and the piggyback ride to see the show. The star of the video in my mind was your find of that beginner sewing machine for Addie. Wow -- and only $5. What a deal! After a break from sewing, I like to ease back into things by making a tried-and-true pattern but with the funnest or zanniest fabric I can find. Maybe do a sew fruity garment? Or making up Addie's choice first. I love that she went right to your stash to do her shopping. That's a girl after my own heart, Antonia

Hi Tiffany,so lovely to see you again,great makes as always.Sadly I haven’t been able to do anything sewing related for over a month now,I fell over on the street and broke my femur,sitting in a wheelchair for couple of weeks more, it’s so disheartening and it’s just makes to move around almost impossible , I’ve almost lost my will to live 😢,somehow you just get through the day ,hopefully I’m allowed to walk again in the beginning of July

@@hoosierhandmade22 thank you so much for your caring words,yes I have lots of help from family and friends and I’m very grateful for that ,and we talk a lot,but sometimes I feel very alone and lonely and restrictive,because I can’t put any weight onto the leg ,I get frustrated and sad thinking how in the earth I’m going to walk again,but my doctor have a plan (I hope) thank you again for caring ❤️❤️
I started machine sewing when I was Addie's age with an antique Singer treddle sewing machine. Although I loved peddling the treddle, but I was too small to reach the top of the seeing machine to sew and use the treddle at the same time, so Mom affixed an old wooden sewing thread spool to the hand wheel with wire, and I could sit on a chair and sew by cranking the hand wheel. I could only sew slowly with the hand wheel, so it was relatively safe. I had a little girls sewing machine too, but it wasn't very powerful, so it was a bit frustrating to use. I liked the treddle machine so much better. I still have that machine (60 years later).

It's always a boost to me when I can wear memades mostly on vacation. I'm always surprised that I just gravitate to what I sewed or what I thrifted. I always check out the thrift stores for "souvenirs" on road trips or vacations. Some of my favorite garments are from thrift stores while on road trips or vacations.
One memorable trip to Maui on a Saturday morning dealing with time changes and jet lag I left the unit for coffee at 5am and waundered around with all the other tourists(there's more walking around early morning surprisingly all dealing with the same thing). I turned down a back alley and stumbled into a neighborhood parade of garage sales.
Who knew Maui had garage sales 😄I met people from all over the globe in that back alley dickering over prices and then discussing how we were going to stuff that beautiful bowl into our luggage. And later that day I discovered all the thrift stores.
I have a gdaughter that marks all the thrift stores on our road trips every small town and city we're driving through. It's always the highlight of every trip for me.

Hmmm, you were in the Orlando area, so my guess is you visited The Sewing Studio in Maitland (maybe Lake Mary). I've found they have the best in-person button selection I have access to. Last time I was in, I went to get buttons for all of my upcoming projects and came home with some lovely speckled turquoise linen for a Love Notions Melody Dolman shirt (as well as the necessary buttons😂). I don't think you broke your fabric-buying ban. You bought a beautiful vacation souvenir that will bring back happy memories every time you see it.
BTW, our son is the kitchen manager for Animal Kingdom and the Nutritionist for Living Seas. Also, his wife is an electrical engineer who works for one of Disney's main contractors making sure the lights and power all over Disney World work as they should. The last project she completed was Moana's Journey of Water at Epcot.

My husband and I were speculating about the percentage of residents of Orlando that must be employed by Disney or had worked at Disney at one point in their lives. @@hoosierhandmade22 Disney employees, past and present, do pop up. We found a veterinarian for our cat now that we're in FL. She was a friend of our son's who was a vet at Animal Kingdom then opened a private practice. We did a consultation with a designer about how to best utilize the space in our smaller home. 20 years ago she worked as Cinderella (shh, don't tell Addie. Per WDW princesses never leave, because, you know, Disney magic...😉🤫).We went to a neighbor's anniversary party. Their friend who acted as emcee popped up as a featured performer when I was watching the Disney World Christmas Parade on tv. They're everywhere! LOL!
