@@Micro-Lander There's two major camps to this debate (three, but we ignore the people who are ok with the price, but not the performance for the sake of the discussion): The first camp (that you are in) is that it should be able to carry anything it had in real life as the closest representation possible. The second camp is that the way it was added in was fine, but the price was too high. While I won't say one or the other is correct or incorrect, I will say that while this game is pretty realistic it's not a simulator. There's countless vehicles in the game that would perform drastically differently if they were modeled true to life. The mirage 2Ks can pull higher instant aoa by up to 15 degrees in game compared to their real life performance, the m1 abrams cant fully depress it's gun to the rear, kontact-5 being able to stop rounds that contemporary proof from a certain unnamed war shows should penetrate, the list goes on. Realism is great given the right setting and situation, however just because war thunder is realistic that doesn't mean it's a true to life simulator. Personally I don't think you should be able to pay your way through the entire grind of the game, that's pay to progress and last time i checked that's not something you should support devs in doing. Price def should go down though.
Yeah, you shouldn't feel like you're missing out on them if you don't buy them. The grind is so crazy though, that buying a high-tier premium is required to reach top tier, which is fkn stupid and bad for the game

I have been playing with the Mig-21 Bison for a little while now. One major plus for me is the modern RWR at 11.7 and the modern radar kit. It greatly improves situational awareness (esp compared to other planes at BR or below), makes flying high and notching fox-1s and fox-3s far more viable. Flying high also gives your R27R that extra range to make it more effective as well. The Mig-21 airframe was also always made for high-altitude flying, the amount of speed you can gain 4000m and up can make up for its performance ASL. Not the best plane in the world - you definitely have to take advantage of clueless F-14 players and low fliers, but you have quite a bit going for you. Very fun ratty ambush plane to punish inattentive players(much like the F-20).
it IS the problem. Snail will shovel-feed the playerbase with complete BS, knowing that people will give them their money. I personally know one guy who buys literally every premium plane possible, whilst wasting 10% of his salary on it
premiums should be mid, and not arm them with the newest best weapons available even if it carried them. later when tech tree planes get more advanced missiles then they might add for example r-77 for this plane.

It’s impossible for the bison to be better than tech tree variants because there is none other. Counterpart wise, it’s quite literally the worst 11.7 in the game, and in many ways worse than many 11.3s. And they charge $75 for it
The r-darter was good even before the buff, honestly the saaf jas39c is really good and Britain will get the eurofighter when it gets added so Britain is a pretty good grind
In the hands of the best pilots that use that jet, ive seen a MiG-21bis do scary, scary things in dogfights. especially with that rudder. imagining that but with R-73s and HMD makes me really wanna get this thing just to make top tier players mad in custom battles, because yeah the average skill floor is depressingly low for alot of them bc everyone just speedgrinds to the top now
They are mid planes that you can easily get kills with, the others are just dogshit. The F5C is the exception, the bison i find really fun, on downtiers expecially, the cannard i used to love, but after i grinded the whole israeli TT i never got used to those defas anymore, after playing other planes i saw how limited the cannard is, even though it has the best FM of that BR bracket.
if you have played with planes from br 11.3-12.0 before then the mig21 bison is actually easy to play. You can easily get 2 kills with the R-27R (the only sarh missile being able to track rear aspect properly and kind of hard to notch), can reliably get 4 kills if you know how to use the R-73 properly, can get 5-6 or more kills in experienced hands (knowing how to aim with the gsh23). Its just that the Bri'ish tech tree is kinda shit lmfao
IK i'm kinda late to this video, but to add why people want to grind British tech tree: future potential. Brits will 100% get the Eurofighter in future, most probably CF-18 too. And if Indian planes are in British TT, the HAL Tejas might also be a possibility. That alone makes me want to grind that god forsaken tree, i just hope there will be something else to grind it with other than a mig-21 and a trash phantom.
I used to hate air rb Mostly played ground and found myself highly enjoying the MiG 21 After unlocking the MiG 29 I emediatly loved the r-73 and the hmd but the MiG 29 is no dog fighter The MiG 21 looses energy extremely fast yes But makes it possible to for the r73 to pull the tightest turns when you are at low speeds Iv been enjoying it for you and your points are very valid
I got this and been playing since day 1. I dont use the R27Rs tho, I like the T better. Side climb to 6+ km, wait for the furball to form and you can launch your R27Ts from ~7+ KM out and not set off RWRs and then get close with the R73s. Its really a great machine IMO and doesnt feel OP but still competent. I'm using it to gring out british strike aircraft and to get past the mediocre early jets in the british tree. Plus theyll get some more advanced aircraft in the near future, I think. It gets a plus from me.
In one way, the Bison is great, because people cannot tell you are a Bison until you get the kill, you only show as Mig-21 to the enemy. I'm used to soak up R-60's 1 flaring them, giving my team higher odds of winning, but, yeah, not against the R-73's, I don't 1 flare those.
I want to grind British top tier because… Well I’m grinding British Ground top tier, might as well get a CAS and CAP option, that’s it really, doing good with the sea vixen though so I won’t grab the phantom and the bison
The MiG-21 Bison is as its name says a MiG-21 A Small Plane that its good with Energy Fighting and Intercepting Not BVR or Dog fighting. The R-73 make it the only selling point as to how simple they work,but even then they sometimes don't work. As for the R-27R its more or less a decent missile,it was good back in the day's but it gets overshadowed a lot I am sure people would flock towards that MiG-21 once Gaijin add's the Euro Typhoon for the British People aren't grinding to get to today's Top Tier,but for the Future one's to come. Rather doing it now then later down the line,unless Gaijin add's RP gain from playing Ground RB Not only is Air RB filled with the worst toxicity of any other game out there,its too quick to even have fun. And all that there is are Kills that are the main selling point instead of the other aspects of Aviation. Not only do I dislike the top tier premiums,but as well as Air AB,RB,SB in general.
If and When the British get the Eurofighter they will be right up there with the most competitive line. No reason to buy in now but that's on the horizon. The US basically doesn't get any massive upgrades for 4.5 gen Jets, better radar and missiles that's really it besides th F/A-18E .
F-4S is easier to new players? I think the concept of shoot gun and press 2 keys for an IR missile on the F-5 is helluva lot easier then needing to learn and bind radar shit, F-4S is a jet that requires you to understand radar and missiles alot more then the F-5 lol
but once you play more than one hour in the F4S and learn the radar keybinds there isn't really much more to it since the F4S is mostly played for it's missiles, while the F5 is a dogfighter and, at least with the upcoming br changes you actually need how to dogfight, lead your guns, keep your energy etc.
Is it worht 75 dollars no. But when compared to the f4j Uk well it will seriously save your sanity. It's alot more fun being able to dogfight and sling missiles rather than being forced to be a bomb truck and then having meh missiles that seem to have some insanely odd problems. Skyflashes just don't work for me. Sparrows work reasonably well the r27 ignoring the evil R27ER and super 530D theses actually work for me. Dogfight missiles yeah I get it but I get tired of seeing hits sub 5km shots or seeing them get lost with a clean solid lock at a decent height is straight out killing me inside.
@@Bartek92727 The missiles are amazing, you just need to learn how to launch them properly. They have a powerful engine with a short burntime, can pull 20Gs and can be led quite a bit. You need to make full use of all of these qualities, not just launch them from direct 6 like an AIM9B. You also have an incredible airframe that can beat esentially every plane at it's br along with great engine performance and max speed. The gun is also pretty good. relatively low ammo, but hits hard and is pretty simple to aim. And while you do only have 12 flares, they're large caliber and drop individually, so you can get by. The J35XS is an incredible plane, it's just not beginner friendly and requires the pilot to know how to fly deltas and how to use high G rear-aspect IR missiles. So generally speaking, if you've flown any of the higher end MiG-21s, Mirage III/2Ks, or Phantom E/Fs, you should be able to adjust to it quickly and use it rather well, if your best TT plane is rank 3 and you bought a premium jet to speed things along, you'll suffer in it.
@@SeekerHead yeah when you hit the shot it does good damage, it's just almost impossible to hit the shot now. I used to be able to get a consistent 4-5 kills per game, even 10 one time, now I struggle to get 2 because of just how much they changed the guns. I know it was broken before, but even in (I'm not trying to toot my own horn here but I have a 3.5kd in the thing) skilled hands, it's now a struggle bus especially when you only ever get uptiers. Sorry for the rant, it's just frustrating when the devs ruin one of your favorite airframes from in game and real life.

I rarely disagree with you but you’re wrong here, this plane basically fights 11.3 every match and I know this because I own it and I constantly get 2 kills every match combined with r27s and r73s with HMD this plane is worth it people. My man seek is tripping big time and yes I’ve scored multiple ACEs with this plane and I love it not for the fact it’s a mig21 but it’s a mig21 with a decent radar and HMDs with r73s
The bison is 11.7 11.7s that outperform the Bison in flight performance: Literally all of them BY A LOT (there’s only like 2-3 right now) 11.3s that outperform the bison in flight performance: MiG23ML (all variants), JA37D, Kfir C7 (pretty much all of the fighters that aren’t phantoms) 11.0s with better flight performance: Kfir C2, JA37C, J7E, J8F, F5E FCU, MiG23M, 10.7s With Better flight performance (this is getting embarrassing): F-5E, Kfir Canard (I think, fact check this one) Of course, flight performance isn’t everything. But when this many planes above and below your battle rating have superior flight performance, just think it’s infinitely worse going up the other 50% of your matches BR bracket from 12.0-12.7. Your missiles are Good and Below average compared to your competition and you only get 4 of them where everyone is is running 6-8. The plane is objectively lesser in almost every area than planes at its own BR, and as I’ve stated in many cases, planes below its own BR. I’m not surprised you “scored multiple ACEs with with”, this is not a difficult task in war thunder air rb. The average skill level is abysmal. The gameplay is abysmal. Getting R73 shots on people that aren’t looking at you and scoring radar missiles kills against people that are doing nothing correctly to prevent from dying is not proof the plane is good. Any plane can score kills in these scenarios. The real judgement is: how equipped is it compared to its peers, and how well does it fly compared to its peers. The Bison is lacking in the Equipment department for a 11.7-12.7 match, and hilariously lacking in the flight performance department. It is not a good plane, but the nature of top tier air battles will still let you get kills.

But it sucked because it was non supersonic and didn’t have that off bore shot capability but the fact this plane has that capability makes it extremely formidable now listen is it it the best plane their is? Yes it’s a mig 21 but at the end of the day bro the r73 is the best IR missile in the game honestly in my opinion so basically every game your almost guaranteed 2 kills I swear I’m getting 1 a game granteed and averaging at least 2. If you equip the two r73 with a T missile and with 1 27r it’s an amazing set up to get almost 3 kills a game especially if you get good position and fire rear aspect which is really easy with that HMD just remember bro most of the planes your fighting are f4s and M2’s f1c and mig23 you can easily get behind these planes and stay behind them for a few seconds because of the speed bleed but after that you lose every ounce of speed and your dead so make quick decisions and your good. I’m currently 71 and 158 in this plane and that’s not amazing by any means but it’s very good considering when I got it mind you I did get multiple aces and even one game got 6 kills so honestly this plane to me in my experience is just amazing for its BR and current downtimes every match
@@ghost0d077 For the 25BM there was also the problem that Gaijin fucked up the flight performance of R-73, so they'd wobble hard or spin themselves out almost off the rail, and they only fixed it when the Mig-29 with them came out (I think).
Personally the Mig-23ML is the best for multi-role and the worst is probably the tornado ids only thing that has going for it is the looks its a cool plane like f14@singeslayer8367
I strongly disagree with your tier ranking. The F20A is fantastic! I absolutely love it, whereas the mig23ml doesn't feel half as capable as it used to be. The MiG-21 is a fantastic jet! I have yet to find a model of the 21s that I don't like.
I dont hate rank 8 premiums, but I do hate the fact that gaijin felt the need to add a MiG 21 to the british tech tree Also, neither the ADTW nor the F-4J(UK) are bad grinders, you just have to commit to bombing and take kills as a bonus
The F4 jUNK is all right PD Radar aim7E2 equivalent.... The ADTW is garbage since the tech tree has literally nothing but US copy paste bullshit that's not even upgraded interestingly like the Israeli ones Kurnass 2000 F16D Ayit ETC just a marginally better 9M at the higher tiers and late sparrows on a F4E. With a F16s Radar.... Neither of these top tier prems are worth it especially if you're an NPC that only likes modern jets and literally no other era of air combat

F-4S is easier to new players? I think the concept of shoot gun and press 2 keys for an IR missile on the F-5 is helluva lot easier then needing to learn and bind radar shit, F-4S is a jet that requires you to understand radar and missiles alot more then the F-5 lol
but once you play more than one hour in the F4S and learn the radar keybinds there isn't really much more to it since the F4S is mostly played for it's missiles, while the F5 is a dogfighter and, at least with the upcoming br changes you actually need how to dogfight, lead your guns, keep your energy etc.
Only reason i should grind the tree is for CAS in ground rb

Is it worht 75 dollars no. But when compared to the f4j Uk well it will seriously save your sanity. It's alot more fun being able to dogfight and sling missiles rather than being forced to be a bomb truck and then having meh missiles that seem to have some insanely odd problems. Skyflashes just don't work for me. Sparrows work reasonably well the r27 ignoring the evil R27ER and super 530D theses actually work for me. Dogfight missiles yeah I get it but I get tired of seeing hits sub 5km shots or seeing them get lost with a clean solid lock at a decent height is straight out killing me inside.

@@Bartek92727 The missiles are amazing, you just need to learn how to launch them properly. They have a powerful engine with a short burntime, can pull 20Gs and can be led quite a bit. You need to make full use of all of these qualities, not just launch them from direct 6 like an AIM9B.
You also have an incredible airframe that can beat esentially every plane at it's br along with great engine performance and max speed. The gun is also pretty good. relatively low ammo, but hits hard and is pretty simple to aim.
And while you do only have 12 flares, they're large caliber and drop individually, so you can get by.
The J35XS is an incredible plane, it's just not beginner friendly and requires the pilot to know how to fly deltas and how to use high G rear-aspect IR missiles. So generally speaking, if you've flown any of the higher end MiG-21s, Mirage III/2Ks, or Phantom E/Fs, you should be able to adjust to it quickly and use it rather well, if your best TT plane is rank 3 and you bought a premium jet to speed things along, you'll suffer in it.
I'm still livid to this day they nerfed the guns on the F-5C, that was all the plane had offensively. Now it has nothing.

@@SeekerHead yeah when you hit the shot it does good damage, it's just almost impossible to hit the shot now. I used to be able to get a consistent 4-5 kills per game, even 10 one time, now I struggle to get 2 because of just how much they changed the guns. I know it was broken before, but even in (I'm not trying to toot my own horn here but I have a 3.5kd in the thing) skilled hands, it's now a struggle bus especially when you only ever get uptiers. Sorry for the rant, it's just frustrating when the devs ruin one of your favorite airframes from in game and real life.

I rarely disagree with you but you’re wrong here, this plane basically fights 11.3 every match and I know this because I own it and I constantly get 2 kills every match combined with r27s and r73s with HMD this plane is worth it people. My man seek is tripping big time and yes I’ve scored multiple ACEs with this plane and I love it not for the fact it’s a mig21 but it’s a mig21 with a decent radar and HMDs with r73s

11.7s that outperform the Bison in flight performance: Literally all of them BY A LOT (there’s only like 2-3 right now)
11.3s that outperform the bison in flight performance: MiG23ML (all variants), JA37D, Kfir C7 (pretty much all of the fighters that aren’t phantoms)
11.0s with better flight performance: Kfir C2, JA37C, J7E, J8F, F5E FCU, MiG23M,
10.7s With Better flight performance (this is getting embarrassing): F-5E, Kfir Canard (I think, fact check this one)
Of course, flight performance isn’t everything. But when this many planes above and below your battle rating have superior flight performance, just think it’s infinitely worse going up the other 50% of your matches BR bracket from 12.0-12.7.
Your missiles are Good and Below average compared to your competition and you only get 4 of them where everyone is is running 6-8.
The plane is objectively lesser in almost every area than planes at its own BR, and as I’ve stated in many cases, planes below its own BR.
I’m not surprised you “scored multiple ACEs with with”, this is not a difficult task in war thunder air rb. The average skill level is abysmal. The gameplay is abysmal. Getting R73 shots on people that aren’t looking at you and scoring radar missiles kills against people that are doing nothing correctly to prevent from dying is not proof the plane is good. Any plane can score kills in these scenarios.
The real judgement is: how equipped is it compared to its peers, and how well does it fly compared to its peers. The Bison is lacking in the Equipment department for a 11.7-12.7 match, and hilariously lacking in the flight performance department. It is not a good plane, but the nature of top tier air battles will still let you get kills.
@@SeekerHead all I can say is an 11.7 with HMDs and r73s doesn’t even matter about flight performance tbh now this thing isn’t a su25, remember when they first added the BM and the r73s with it? And people were tripping out??? But it sucked because it was non supersonic and didn’t have that off bore shot capability but the fact this plane has that capability makes it extremely formidable now listen is it it the best plane their is? Yes it’s a mig 21 but at the end of the day bro the r73 is the best IR missile in the game honestly in my opinion so basically every game your almost guaranteed 2 kills I swear I’m getting 1 a game granteed and averaging at least 2.
If you equip the two r73 with a T missile and with 1 27r it’s an amazing set up to get almost 3 kills a game especially if you get good position and fire rear aspect which is really easy with that HMD just remember bro most of the planes your fighting are f4s and M2’s f1c and mig23 you can easily get behind these planes and stay behind them for a few seconds because of the speed bleed but after that you lose every ounce of speed and your dead so make quick decisions and your good. I’m currently 71 and 158 in this plane and that’s not amazing by any means but it’s very good considering when I got it mind you I did get multiple aces and even one game got 6 kills so honestly this plane to me in my experience is just amazing for its BR and current downtimes every match
@@ghost0d077 For the 25BM there was also the problem that Gaijin fucked up the flight performance of R-73, so they'd wobble hard or spin themselves out almost off the rail, and they only fixed it when the Mig-29 with them came out (I think).

I strongly disagree with your tier ranking. The F20A is fantastic! I absolutely love it, whereas the mig23ml doesn't feel half as capable as it used to be. The MiG-21 is a fantastic jet! I have yet to find a model of the 21s that I don't like.

The ADTW is garbage since the tech tree has literally nothing but US copy paste bullshit that's not even upgraded interestingly like the Israeli ones Kurnass 2000 F16D Ayit ETC just a marginally better 9M at the higher tiers and late sparrows on a F4E. With a F16s Radar....
Neither of these top tier prems are worth it especially if you're an NPC that only likes modern jets and literally no other era of air combat
