Philippines has only one text book in their language, Tagalog, the rest are all in English. They follow the same syllabus and same books throughout the country, in towns and villages. The result is there is a strong demand for Filipino maids, nurses and caretakers all over the world. A Filipino maid earns twice as much as a Bangladeshi maid in Dubai because the former can speak English and the latter cannot. The wider world is interconnected. Even the German, French and japanese are teaching English from the primary level in their schools. Emotion is one thing and necessity is another. One should be practical in life otherwise he or she will be left behind.

Dr. Shalimulla Khan is a great asset of Bangladesh. I hardly find any philosopher, intellectual like him in our country. But, he is not showing his light of knowledge, or education to the people when our country falls in acute political crisis which we are facing now. So, his wisdom benefits only for some chosen people not for mass people, or for the country.

You spelt it wrong, it is Rabindranath Tagore. Most Bangladeshi Muslims, Ahmed Chofa included, wonder why Tagore was silent on Muslims even though most of his subjects were Muslims. He lived among them for a substantial period of his life though. Some of his best creations were written during that period. When one writes about a society or a community, you write about the good things as well as the bad things. But for most Muslims, when they ask for criticism, they want only praise. If you criticise them in social or religious matters, they get very upset and occasionally very violent as we have seen with Taslima Nasreen. Tagore was very very farsighted man. He could envisage the consequences of offending his subjects and hence he kept himself away. Most Bangladeshi Muslims, Ahmed Chofa included, wonder why Tagore was silent on Muslims even though most of his subjects were Muslims. He lived among them for a substantial period of his life though. Some of his best creations were written during that period.
When one writes about a society or a community, you write about the good things as well as the bad things. But for most Muslims, when they ask for criticism, they want only praise. If you criticise them in social or religious matters, they get very upset and occasionally very violent as we have seen with Taslima Nasreen. Tagore was very very farsighted man. He could envisage the consequences of offending his subjects and hence he kept himself away. I hope I answered your query but it may not be your liking though.
