    I remember my old Gt Performer with the tri Mags. That was a slick looking bike. I miss those days. Even had a rotor on it.

    Looks good i remember every kid in our neighborhood had a BMX bike each one was different my friend had a mongoose as a kid i had an 84 GT Pro Performer before it was stolen like a lot of BMX bikes. Those tires look just like the snake belly tires that came on the old school 80s Diamond Back BMX bikes.

      My BMX Mongoose was stolen too. Broke my heart. Just ordered the Californian as the Supergoose is sold out.

    Just remembered ….Lee Chi brakes were Mx diacompe ‘alternatives’ found on some of the early 80’s Mongoose’s

    They are 1inch headsets but 30mm roadside size. And they use a 22 shaft on the stem. I'm sure if the old gooses were like this? 😝

    I’m hoping that mongoose rerelease the PRO CLASS & ERIC RUPE signature bikes as part of their CLASSICS COLLECTION.The PRO CLASS was a great bike.MONGOOSE have been asking people on their site which bikes should be rereleased after the success of the SUPERGOOSE & CALIFORNIA, and the PRO CLASS & ERIC RUPE bikes seem like the logical choices.I hope the PRO CLASS is released in both 20 & 24 inch,in BLACK & POLISHED CHROME.If it is released in 24 inch, I shall be buying one.😉

    That is a blue rubber band like band in the rim for the dots.
    Not the strip of metal like on the original.
    I was surprised to see that change.

      @fl_7997  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep looks like colored rim tape but the original anodized aluminum rim strips are available !

    Weight.....? Are the tires soft rubber like the original Comp iii, or the harder cheap rubber on the fake ones they used to sell at Wal-Mart...?

    The top bar on the supergoose is 17mm longer than the cali.special. wish the California special was the same length...

    Did they seriously not put a hole in the front rim right there by the reflector?! Wow! Nice bike over all though

    I would've put the 84 down the other way the ano chainrings are hella easy to mark up.

    looking at the welds they dont look as good as the 80`s ones, i cant see them properly can you advise?

    • @fl_7997
      @fl_7997  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually the welds are actually dressed up a bit on the new supergoose but neither are really works of art in this department. But I am impressed with the overall vibe of the new supergoose I would have been over the moon with this bike in 1983. These bikes are for my 9 year old son so we are building up my old 83 expert and will begin upgrading the supergoose with a profile stem and cranks and a nice set of chromoly pro class style bars.

      Welds are not near as good as my Motomag, they were hand made in the 70's early 80's, some of the parts are not the same size/geometry on the replica... see my reply above/blow.

    I cannot get mine to spin intern properly I just put it together and it’s rough to turn. Is that because I need to grease it

  • @johnreekie992
    @johnreekie992 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd prefer a remade supergoos 2eith the correct gusset and bottom bracket and seat stay bridges

  • @bobbydp1

    Is the chrome actual chrome or is it paint like the stranger things goose, and is it as heavy?

    • @fl_7997
      @fl_7997  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m pretty sure It’s a paint or coating designed to look like the satin nickel finish of the gusset frame era bikes same as the stranger things goose. I’ll have to get it on the scale but it’s not too heavy probably due to the pro class wheel set.

    Does your super goose bars move? I just put tape on the knurling and it seems to hold up

    • @fl_7997
      @fl_7997  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No movement on the bars but i did evenly tighten them down a bit at a time in a cross pattern and then torqued them down hard!

  • @VenturaIT

    The welds aren't near as good as the originals and the front brace seems bigger as well as the brace between the rear stays and the upper seat post seems longer/different geometry. I love these old Mongooses, but if they are going to make replicas at least make them better, not worse than the originals. That's why Mongoose lost all respect, they sold out and became Walmart bikes.

    Not a copy of a modern peddle they are copy's of the shimano dx peddle from the 80s
