🚶‍♂️Discover the Marseille Flea Market during this unusual walking tour. Located north of Marseille, in the heart of Euroméditerranée 2, the flea market extends beyond authorized limits. In the surrounding streets, traffic, violence and poverty coexist. The inhabitants, exasperated by the dirt and insecurity, feel forgotten and denounce a lawless area. It is one of the poorest neighborhoods in Marseille: Les Crottes, in the 15th arrondissement. “The village” as some residents say, located in the heart of Euroméditerranée 2, the largest urban renovation project in Europe, is in the process of changing. But while waiting for the promise of a better life, the residents who support the work live in the midst of poverty, dirt, violence, insecurity. A symbol of this misery, the flea market now extends well beyond the authorized perimeter (the authorized part attracts 50,000 visitors per week according to Euromed figures, editor's note). On the sidewalks and in the surrounding streets, street vendors, often foreigners, rub shoulders with drug and cigarette traffickers. Despite some operations carried out by the police headquarters, the problem remains and the situation even seems to be deteriorating, according to witnesses; to the great despair of residents and traders who denounce the abandonment of the State and public authorities.
