    Cut a square notch on the fan shroud to clear the radiator (as in Gladiator, I'm from NY) because it won't affect the airflow dynamics unless you are an engineer.

    Today, July 10, 2022. That's when I looked this up for the hubby. He'd been working on that stupid bolt for a while. THANK YOU for the torch trick!!!! He was using a 1,000psi gun!! 😳 Wouldn't budge. Subbed!!

      Yes! They use Loctite from the factory. Heat is the only thing that is gonna break that bond. I’m glad I could help.

    Struggled with the balancer bolt for two days. Heat was the trick. Came off in 10 minutes after I bumped it with the ignition.

      took me less than 2 minutes to remove that bolt, I used 1 inch drive Milwaukee electric impact gun with short shank, to remove the bolt no heat is needed.

    That seal looks like it's for the 2004+ pulley but the pulley looks like a 2002. I know it's quite confusing as there were multiple styles. Mine looks like a newer style pulley but uses the old style seal.

    TO REMOVE THE FAN AND SHROUD TO BYPASS ALL THE REMOVAL OF THE GRILL HEADLAMP ETC JUST UNBOLT THE FAN FROM THE CLUTCH AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO REMOVE AND SAVE ON ALL THAT LABOR

      Thanks for the tip! I’m gonna try that method the next time around. The trailblazer is down again. The aftermarket crank pulley somehow slips on the crankshaft. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Just to clarify, then there is no need to remove the entire cover? Can that seal be changed from the outside?

    So the bolt holding the balancer on is a one time bolt did you use a new one?

    • @Primer2toneGarage
      @Primer2toneGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late response. The balancer bolt had loctite. I had to heat it to remove it and added more loctite when I reinstalled it.

      @@Primer2toneGarage a super late response, but I'm still going through this seal bs with my father in law's 07 4.2l. Tim is right, the Harmonic balancer bolt is a one time use Torque to Yield bolt, and takes a LOT of torque. 110 ft lbs pre-torque, then turn the bolt 180 degrees. It took a 3ft matco breaker bar and a sizeable cheater to get it to torque.

    How can I get the seal in? It keeps coming out with me tapping it

    • @Primer2toneGarage
      @Primer2toneGarage  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The best way would be to find a socket about the same diameter or just gently tap around the seal until it seats. I know, it’s a pain in the butt.

    • @giaellington1276
      @giaellington1276 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used a socket the same size as the seal and tapped around the socket. It will go in. I also used some silicone to put on the inside of the shaft.

    You can definitely get that fan shroud out without removing the rad. Just have to torque it a bit to sneak the top edge past the hose port.

    How easy was the seal removal? Did not see the removal in the video.

    • @Primer2toneGarage
      @Primer2toneGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The toughest part was getting the harmonic balancer off. The seal itself comes off pretty easily.

      Yes, it’s the same motor. Just be certain you buy the correct seal. There are two different sizes.

      @@Primer2toneGarage sorry for all the questions. At around 9:00 there a bar being used. Is that to prevent the engine from turning?

    • @Primer2toneGarage
      @Primer2toneGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hwalker1829 yes. I used it to stop the motor from turning and then I also used it to brace my puller so it wouldn’t twist sideways and pop off.

    You have a bad radiator cap, the cap has broken in the radiator inlet, the filler hole shouldn't be that restricted.
