Emus are sexually mature at around two years of age. Breeding season will usually occur between April and November. Normally emus are silent, but during breeding season, the female will make a deep, booming noise. Emus will lay a clutch of 6-11 eggs which are dark grey-green in colour and are about 13.5 cm in length and 9 cm wide.

In the bush the female lays the eggs and takes off, it’s the male that sits on the eggs and hatches them then rears the young.

One time, when I closed full-screen, I saw that I had accidentally clicked on "dislike". I had to wonder how often I have done this. And that might explain some dislikes. Just people having a spaced out moment. But yeah there are trolls for sure.

I’m so glad I didn’t miss Bamboos birthday. Thank you so much for sharing. I know what you mean when you say you never expected to feel such love from an animal. I never really thought birds could be affectionate and always considered them to be in a class of their own like pet fish. But one day I rescued a little baby sparrow that fell out its nest and it’s mother had abandoned it. I scooped it up and bought a special plastic cage to keep it in and hand fed it every three hours for weeks. I found her, she’s a girl, at work so naturally I took her to work with me in a big office building full telephone sales agents. Nobody said a word about me raising a little chick on my desk.
It finally came time to let her fly away and I was so sad but I let her go. I came home from work at lunchtime and she was still sitting in the same tree calling for me, I tried to reach her but I couldn’t and she kept going higher up the tree. Finally I just gave up and sat down at the top of my stairs outside my apartment and then she flew right in and landed on my head. I have a little bald spot that she loved to sit in like a little nest and boy did I ever change my mind about birds. This little chick who I named peety peep came out of her cage every night and flew on top of my head and she loved little kisses. She sang so sweetly and at night she would fly to the corner of the top of a painting that I had painted of an angel holding a white dove on his finger. I had her for years and years until she finally passed away and I buried her in my garden and put a little angel statue over her grave. I never loved a little wild creature so much and she really did think I was her father and loved me back.
What a sweet story. Proves LOVE responds in like. You gave and she received, and gave back. You will reap what you sowed. God bless you!!
