    Our first trip to the VIM was for 7 days and the second for 9 and I can't wait to book another visit. A couple of things I would note is that the lowest tier room (Jr. Deluxe) is a very nice room and the cost difference might it possible to spend an extra day or two if you have the time. Our first trip was in December and the weather was great though the pools and ocean were fairly cool. The second trip was July/August and it was miserably hot and the pools were too warm to feel refreshing. The ocean, however, was PERFECT! Keep in mind that most of the activities (until dinner time) are outside so if you don't like high heat and humidity, the summer months may not be the best time, even if it's the most affordable time. Still, I would go back anytime I had the oportunity!

    Great video, My wife and I are planning on going in June. I am curious about tipping at the resort. This will be my first all inclusive trip and don't even know where to start.

    • @MariJulis
      @MariJulis  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yay! I'm excited for you, it will be a great first experience at VIM. For tipping, I would go with what you feel comfortable doing within your budget. A sample day could look like $1-2/drink throughout the day at the pool/beach. Breakfast/Lunch $5-10. Dinner $10-20. $5-10/day housekeeping OR at the end of your stay. I would also tip your transport from airport to resort $5-10 because in my experience, the drivers are eager to give you local guides, history and recommendations. At the end of the day just remember, tip is optional but they do appreciate whatever you give them!

    Love your video. Can wait to go we will be there in February. I just have one question the drone video was it taken by you? If yes so they allow the use of drones. Thanks and happy new year 🎉

    • @MariJulis
      @MariJulis  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much! I appreciate it. For the drone shots, we did them early in the morning to not bother anybody. However, a staff member did tell us to be careful because he wasn't sure about the drone rules. The only thing he told us was that if we saw a manager, to go to our room 🤭 Happy New Year!!!

    I’m hesitating between this hotel and Unico, but I’m open to new ideas. Would you mind sharing what other hotel you advice ? Like your top 5 maybe?
    (Food, service and beach are important) Thanks again ❤

      Happy to hear it has helped!
      As for resorts, I can't speak on Unico, though it's definitely in my bucket list. I hear a lot of people recommend Secrets Maroma for those reasons. Atelier has had the best food so far but the beach set up was off for me, though the actual beach was pleasant. Excellence Playa Mujeres is also a good option in my opinion as well. Hope it helps 🤗

    • @spinedoc893
      @spinedoc893 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree Secrets Maroma is pretty much a can't miss pick. Its a bit more $ than VIM but one of the best all inclusives anywhere and way nicer beach. Secrets Akumal is also very good. The beach isn't as nice as Maroma but snorkling is amazing there and its a bit more affordable. I haven't stayed at Unico but the reviews are very good. I stayed at TRS Yucatan 1st week of April 2024 which is literally right beside Unico. The beach there is ok but not fabulous, quite rocky. Need water shoes for sure. TRS was a very pleasant surprise. Booked on the suggestion of my travel agent. Really good food, premium drinks (you even get 2 full size bottles of premium liqour of your choosing in your room), gorgeous grounds, spectacular infinity pool right on the ocean and a very cool saltwater pool that's fed by the ocean and the use of 3 other large palladium family friendly resorts if you wish. (although food and drink quality was much lower than on TRS side and there is no need to leave TRS side unless you want to explore). On the negative side the beach for TRS is on the palladium side which wasn't a big deal you can walk or take a cart ride. Honestly I think TRS was the best value for $ of anywhere I've been since the post COVID price hikes. I booked my trip in November 2023 and TRS was $500 less than VIM and $700 less than Secrets Akumal. (That was $CAD per person from Toronto for 7 days) I believe we initially paid $2300 per person and then upgraded to a spectacular ocean view room ( which also overlooked the beautiful infinity pool and was about a 2 min walk from 3 bars and a restaurant where you could have breakfast, lunch and dinner) when we checked in for an extra $400USD for the week so we were about $2600 CAD each in total for flight, hotel, airport transfers and taxes.

  • @spinedoc893
    @spinedoc893 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've been tempted to book VIM several times as the reviews are amazing and the grounds/pools look gorgeous. My only hold back for VIM is the fact that you cannot see the ocean from anywhere on the resort unless you book an emerald oceanfront suite which are pricey and the views are pretty obscured by trees. For the price of an emerald suite I would go to Secrets Maroma instead which is consistently ranked as one of the top all inclusives in the world

    We just booked a trip for December 2024 and we’re so excited! Do you have any tips for navigating the Cancun airport during Christmas?

    • @MariJulis
      @MariJulis  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      YAY! I'm excited for you!
      You will be going during one of their busiest times of the year, this may mean lots more people to go through immigration=longer lines. There are automated Kiosks to the far left when you go down to immigration BUT you need to fit this criteria: E-Passport, staying less than180 days, passport from Canada, USA or Mexico, over 18yrs old, Tourism and traveling with no kids. Then you can use these, it will print out a receipt, you need to KEEP THIS RECEIPT as they will ask for it when you're ready to come home. Otherwise, use the regular immigration lines. They try and do a good job at moving it along! After immigration is baggage claim, if you check a bag, expect to wait for your bag up to 2hrs! (i've heard horror stories like this) So if you're able to, bring just a carry-on, it will safe you time! After baggage claim, just keep walking towards the exit and ignore all the people asking you if you need a ride. If you requested transport they will be outside, usually with a sign but keep in mind theres TONS of people so just wonder around until you find your transfer. Overall I'd say, come mentally prepared with your patience at full capacity and remember you'll soon be at the beach sipping on a delicious drink! 🍹🏝 Hope that helps!

    can i ask about tipping? we are from germany and will go there for the first time soon! How much and when did you tip? I am asking because the tipping culture is SO different here. And did you tip in pesos or USD?

      Tipping can be confusing. We're one of the go with what you feel comfortable tipping within your budget! A sample day could look like tipping in USD, $1-2/drink throughout the day at the pool/beach. Breakfast/Lunch $5-10. Dinner $10-20. $5-10/day housekeeping OR at the end of your stay. • @MariJulis

      I believe you pay extra for the Bali beds at both the pool and beach. The palapas at the beach and shaded spots at the pool are on a first come basis!
