Vorderman said she had been blocked by the minister for women Maria Caulfield on Twitter after saying that Caulfield 'couldn’t be bothered to turn up' for questions by a select committee examining the menopause. She also accused Kemi Badenoch of being 'patronising' and 'insulting' during a discussion about whether the menopause should be a protected characteristic, in which the minister had compared the request to others made by carers, single people or those who had ginger hair or were short.

This is about keeping skilled experienced people in the workplace which helps the economy. I did not realise that was a 'left' issue. If politicians want to pushback pension age and have people to work for longer this is an important issue.

I really like Carol Vorderman's straight talking style. It is difficult as a man to understand exactly what women go through during menopause, simply because we are incapable of experiencing it. However, I do understand that we need to listen to those who do have experience and make appropriate adjustments and changes where necessary. It really only boils down to that and being respectful and caring of others. It really isn't difficult. Now that I have had my say, I am going to ponder, wonder and try *_desperately_* to work out how menopausal issues are somehow 'left wing'...Methinks that I will not come up with a viable rationale.

Incapable? Ever heard of 'male menopause'? Might be time to look it up.

@@ichiroutakashima4503 Since when has experiencing the male menopause made any male capable of understanding what a female menopause is. Vice versa too. The most we can ever hope to understand is that the body changes as we get older. As someone in my mid-fifties, I can attest to that. You should remember that knowledge is not always the same as understanding.

      1. Tv and media have convinced people that women do not experience menopause. Women are portrayed as flawless. 2. Mens issues are ignored outright and mocked. So why would people care? Especially males.

Well said, Carol! I'm incredulous that, even for this pathetic excuse of a government, they'd describe menopause issues as a "left wing issue". It's absolutely disgraceful and I can't begin to imagine how that must feel to people who have had/are going through difficulties with the menopause.

When you are standing with your right shoulder against the wall, then everybody else is to the left of you. The government is full of total nutcases and it is high time they get booted out of Westminster.

What a load of bull... men suffer from menopause as well, why should women be treated differently? Equality goes both ways, so she should at least speak for both men and women.

The "male menopause" (sometimes called the andropause) is an unhelpful term sometimes used in the media.
This label is misleading because it suggests the symptoms are the result of a sudden drop in testosterone in middle age, similar to what occurs in the female menopause. This is not true.
Although testosterone levels fall as men age, the decline is steady at about 1% a year from around the age of 30 to 40, and this is unlikely to cause any problems in itself.

So, the point of women being equally capable as men is practically proven FALSE day by day.
For instance, men would never ask for menaupause special excuses!
