Yes, very helpful! I store mine open just because I keep them on a towel bar from Ikea that is attached to the wall. 😃
Great idea! I'm going to pin your comment so others can see it!
Thank you Lolly for the tip! I never knew that about the spring. Glad I saw your video. I will definitely now be storing them open.
You are so welcome!
I am glad you told people about this! I broke not one but TWO of my precious Stampin up punches by keeping them closed!!!! By the 2nd one I decided that it was safer to leave them open and havent broken one since. I have 2- 6 drawer iris units that I keep my punches in *gasp* but I can not bear to lose one! I love them and use them a lot!!!
Thanks for sharing!! That will hlelp others
Thank you. I just assumed you were supposed to leave them locked. Glad I saw this video.
Glad I could help
Interesting Lolly, especially the tip about wax paper. I was told to use foil which did nothing for my they still were sticking and not cutting. May there be Blessings, positive vibes that cause constant ripples of peace, health and happiness for all who need it in these unsure times! Namesta ✌️🐞🕉️
Thanks so much! Blessings!

Wow! Who knew!! They are packaged like this when we buy them, so you would think that it would be ok to store them this way!!🤔 Thanks for sharing this tip!! 💕🌴😎
Probably easier for them to ship that way.
Great idea for storage
Yes, thanks

You are so welcome
Well now to go unlock them🤦🏻 thx for all the tips.
thanks!
Thank you so much! I do store mine compressed. It's time to get the wheels going on how to store them now. Do you have a video on storage ideas?
I have what looks like a large wooden hanging mail organizer, and I have mine in there, but some are also on shelves.
Thank you Lolly! Another winner video to help us know how to make our tools last longer. I was not aware about the springs either. You are very thoughtful. I appreciate you Lolly! 🥰
Glad it was helpful! Thank you, Trish
Darn. I was afraid you were going to say that. I hope I have room to unspring them. Good video Lolly!
Sorry! I know it's disappointing news, but it would be awful to lose the investment we put into those punches -- they aren't cheap!
Thanks for the tip. I am headed to my punches to "unsparing" them right now! I've also heard in addtiont to cutting through waxed paper to lubricate the mehanisms, u can also punch through aluminum foil to help sharpen the punch. Is this true?
I used to recommend fine sand paper if we're desperate, but hubby said no way -- don't do it, as it will dull the blade.
I need help with sharpening one punch I have that I use all the time. Cutting tin foil does not do the trick. I have oiled it as well, used wax, and wax paper, but it is getting harder and harder to punch. It is a retired Stampin up tab punch and I use it for a small Etsy business I have.
I think after awhile, nothing we do can help. They do seem to have a certain life span
This was a new tip! Thank you! I am not sure how to find space to keep all of them open!! I have a 2 Edge Punch and cannot get it to open. I have applied WD-40 but it is still stuck. Any ideas?
no - - sorry! Good luck, though
@@LollyPalooza Thanks!
@@dianesharp6094 It's worth a shot! Depends on how long it's in the freezer, I suppose, as extreme temps are hard on springs. Seems like if we freeze the metal spring, it especially won't "unspring," but on the other hand, the punch is already broken, right? So why not try?
@@dianesharp6094 I put it in the freezer for one night, it did not work. I have put it in the freezer again now and going to keep it there a little longer !! Let's see, fingers crossed.
@@LollyPalooza I will keep that in mind. This is a beautiful punch. I have opened all my other punches after watching your video. Live N Learn!!
I've always thought that storing them closed wasn't good for the springs but if that's the case, why is that the exact reason they make them lockable? They literally advertise them as easier to store because you can lock them flat. (That's a rhetorical question, lol.)
:) Yeah, one does wonder. Maybe so that they can sell us MORE punches when these break?
Thank you Lolly!
you bet!
Great tip. Thank you.
You're welcome! Thank you
