Oda does an ask-the-author segment in many of the official volume releases for the manga, and for Volume 74 released in June 2014 he stated that the scene that made him cry the most while drawing it was Vivi screaming at the armies to stop fighting. There have been 10 years and almost 400 chapters since then so maybe a new scene has overtaken it, but this is still such a standout moment.
Remember this. Oda is the best storyteller when it comes to tear jerking moments. Doesnt matter you only know the character for 1 chapter, you hate the character, he will always successfully make you cry.
I first watched One Piece in 2008. Dropped it at Skypiea. For a long time, I was obsessed with Naruto, and not so much about this. And then I picked up the manga in 2019. And has been an avid fan since...
Me too. I even started watching in 2003, but stopped at Enies Lobby. I watched again during Marine Ford then stopped again after that Arc ended. Recently, I started watching again, but I went straight to the Wano arc. Now, I'm currently watching the on going Arc. IDK, I probably miss some details here and there. 😅
That's the biggest beauty in Oda's writing is the fact that we get so connected emotionally about characters we knew for seconds, and he does this over and over again....
To this day, this is still one of Luffy's greatest victories. Had Crocodile taken him seriously right from the start, Luffy would have died out in the desert. But he didn't and gave Luffy more chances to fight him and get stronger until Crocodile finally recognized his strength, but by then it was already too late for him. So falls Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
It's over... Finally! Still a tearjerker after so many years, which just speaks to the mastery of Oda's storytelling, as well as the anime production team. Vivi's emotions are just so real and her va fully gets props for this. I love how Kiss noticed he wasn't even shouting out moves, and Hayley, we understand - you laugh, you cry and sometimes, you do both! 😊
One of the greatest things One Piece has is the intense build-up. Luffy defeating Crocodile wouldn't be nearly as impactful were it not for all of the previous emotional moments. Vivi's shouting, Pell's sacrifice, each of Luffy's defeats, Koza being shot, Yuba and Toto... Oda is a master of prolongued tension, and the reason why so many people never get into One Piece (its length) becomes actually one of its greatest assets. Peak Fiction, chef kiss.

The music there is the 4th movement of Antonin Dvořák's 9th Symphony, "From the New World", a.k.a. the New World Symphony, one of the best pieces of classical music ever written, and hands down the best musical cue in all of One Piece
バロック音楽をクロコダイル撃破のタイミングに取り入れて、彼の野望とバロックワークスの終焉を演出したのは鳥肌がたった。 The way using baroque music in scene of defeat Crocodile was so exciting cuz of symbol that Baroque Works' ambition was collapsed.
This is why Luffy is the goat of shonen fighter. This episode was outstanding the story, animation and fight was awesome. This is what happen when you get Luffy mad he get serious and kick butt
This is honestly in my top 5 favorite episodes (126) in the entire series. It's a complete masterpiece from the fighting, the music, the themes and the acting; 100/10 all around. I always tear up seeing Vivi remember, what was a silly gag at the time, how Luffy promised that he'd "beat up that crocodile." I also still get chills with her speech and that scene of Crocodile's busted face when that crescendo plays. Fun fact about the overall production value of these last few episodes, Oda's original plan was for One Piece to end with the Alabasta arc. However, he found that he loved the story too much and it had become so much more popular than he'd expected that he decided it couldn't end so soon. But that's why the production was so amazing at the end of this arc as they were expecting it to be the conclusion to the series. I made a comment a while back on ya'll's channel about how much Crocodile just lives for being a petty asshole and, now that you've finished Alabasta, he gave some clear indicators on why that is during his final fight with Luffy. "The more you learn the level of this sea, the more you'll give up on such dreams!" This one line highlights so much of Crocodile's character when you place it next to everything else he's done so far. He brooks NO betrayal, even if it's one born of ignorance or incompetence, and he will immediately and violently attack anyone who he deems has "betrayed" his expectations. A person doesn't get that way without having had something similar occur in their past. Also, this new comment about this sea being one that makes you "give up on your dreams," and pairing this with the fact that the entire reason for Crocodile's plot was to find a super powerful weapon, shows that Crocodile himself likely also once dreamed of being Pirate King; but he came up short and was planning to use Pluton after losing faith in his own strength. Also, fun side note with it starting to rain immediately after Luffy pummeled Crocodile into the stratosphere, remember when Ace was first teased during the end of Drum Island? The villagers talking about him mentioned that "it hadn't snowed at all that particular day." This was a hint that logia users (like Ace and Crocodile) have a passive effect on the climate in their surroundings; with Ace heating up Drum Island and Crocodile drying out Alabasta. So Crocodile wasn't wrong when he said he stole the rain of Alabasta because his devil fruit was actually responsible for the drought in the first place. Looking forward to ya'll's reactions for the rest of the arc and going into the next one! Take care for spoilers!!
"i wasnt expecting to be crying" you will understand you need to always be expecting to cry be it tears of joy, sadness or pure amazement. you cry when oda tells you to cry

The last episode is the one where the music is the most amazing choreography with what's taking place. They took "The New World Symphony" and perfectly aligned it with the action. I have no idea how they did that or who was responsible, but they deserve a raise.

Crocodile was an amazing villain, probably my favorite even many arcs later. Smart, competent and ruthless. Then yeah, he had to lose in the end, but still a great character!
I've been watching One Piece since my first apartment in 2001, and it's been an important part of my life at times. This is still my favorite arc, and these are my favorite episodes. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would, subbed :)
I could watch you guys reacting to this show every day, and I don't normally care for reaction content outside of major plot events. If you put out multiple episodes a day where you binged it, I'd probably still watch every single one! Really enjoying rewatching the show for the 10th time with you both!!
The Alabasta Story is one of the best episodes in OnePiece history. The power of the crocodile, a powerful pirate belonging to the government and the first character in "Seven Warlords of the Sea" who was officially authorized to hunt pirates, could be seen in its easy handling of Luffy. However, despite losing to the global powerhouse several times, it was cool to fight for a friend without fear of death. Personally, my favorite character in the cartoon is Zoro. But the coolest character in this episode was Usopp. Even within the Luffy Pirates, they were the weakest, but they fought without running away. (Of course I tried to run away in the middle of the battle lol) In particular, at the end of the battle, it touched my heart to see him standing up and talking in the sandstorm after being hit by an iron bat and breaking his bone. I've been watching a cartoon OnePiece since elementary school and I'm still watching the latest OnePiece cartoon even when I'm 30. But the episode will never be forgotten.
Keeping the rain from falling in Alabasta shows the power Crocodile really has with his devil fruit. We have seen another Logia user do something similar already though. When Ace went to Drum Island it was the only day no snow fell there. So yeah, at this point it's basically confirmed that powerful Logia users can effect their environment with there simple presence. Just something to keep in the back of your head.
Because of how goofy, friendly, and cheerful Luffy is most of the time, it's easy to forget how intimidating and scary he can be when he's truly angry and fighting seriously.
Gum-Gum Storm is hands down my favorite attack in Luffy’s arsenal, because of how versatile it is. I wish I can explain how it’s versatile but I can’t due to spoilers. Also congrats on getting this far into One Piece! Keep trucking you two and enjoy the journey!
Crocodile was built up to be so menacing and evil throughout the saga that this outcome feels so deserved and satisfying! It was a huge struggle throughout but everyone had a chance to shine and the victory is very well earned
126 is where One Piece shows its true colors, I don't wanna say that this is where the show starts, but this is to be what is to come. It only gets better from here.
My favorite and most heart-wrenching moment in this arch is just up ahead...when the fist are raised to the air. If you know, you know...or will know soon! ✊
When Luffy starts to beat down one of the warlord, it’s a new start to a brand new world.. so that’s why the anime use Dvorak’s New World (9th) Symphony 4th Movement as the BMG.
I sometimes laugh when I am uncomfortable or unsure how to respond in the moment too.. which has caused some misunderstandings at times 😅 I relate. I'm confident your audience knows how kind-hearted you both are, so I'm sure we all know you wouldn't be laughing at misfortune or a character's death. No worries, you're good! ☺️👍 You have great rxn's and insights, keep up the great work
The music is the 4th movement of "The New World Symphony" by Anton Dvorak. Best symphony ever written IMO. Early One Piece used a couple of classical music pieces (they used "Ave Maria" during Hiluluk's death as well) but for some reason they stopped after that. I don't know why because it was such a good idea.

Remember this. Oda is the best storyteller when it comes to tear jerking moments. Doesnt matter you only know the character for 1 chapter, you hate the character, he will always successfully make you cry.
Skypeia arc boutta go crazy
I first watched One Piece in 2008. Dropped it at Skypiea. For a long time, I was obsessed with Naruto, and not so much about this. And then I picked up the manga in 2019. And has been an avid fan since...
Me too. I even started watching in 2003, but stopped at Enies Lobby. I watched again during Marine Ford then stopped again after that Arc ended. Recently, I started watching again, but I went straight to the Wano arc. Now, I'm currently watching the on going Arc. IDK, I probably miss some details here and there. 😅
That's the biggest beauty in Oda's writing is the fact that we get so connected emotionally about characters we knew for seconds, and he does this over and over again....
this is the most genuine reaction of one piece i hav ever seen ❤
Nothing has the power to play with your emotions like One Piece.
I really apreciate that crocodiles plan was actually so well thought which makes way more satisfatory when our heroes finds a way around it
It's over...
Well said.
In other words, Oda really knows how to edge his audience (sorry) 🤣🤣
It’s so warm out there your eyes were sweating 😢
Water's the reason how Luffy finally clears💦
The rain stopped the fight🌧️
Vivi gave her incredible speech behind her tears💧
which ended the war and gave the light🩵
Every time the show brings you guys to tears I also get emotional, I know everything that happens but getting to experience it with you is just something else
It's been 15 years since I started watching One Piece...this episode is still so emotional, love it.
That ending with New World Symphony was just Absolute Cinema
The music there is the 4th movement of Antonin Dvořák's 9th Symphony, "From the New World", a.k.a. the New World Symphony, one of the best pieces of classical music ever written, and hands down the best musical cue in all of One Piece
バロック音楽をクロコダイル撃破のタイミングに取り入れて、彼の野望とバロックワークスの終焉を演出したのは鳥肌がたった。
The way using baroque music in scene of defeat Crocodile was so exciting cuz of symbol that Baroque Works' ambition was collapsed.
this is why Luffy always gonna my favourite shonen MC
Yeah you know luffys pissed when he just straight up gum gum decks you in the face without saying anything
"The more you learn the level of this sea, the more you'll give up on such dreams!"
This one line highlights so much of Crocodile's character when you place it next to everything else he's done so far.
Nothing makes me cry like One Piece.
"i wasnt expecting to be crying" you will understand you need to always be expecting to cry be it tears of joy, sadness or pure amazement. you cry when oda tells you to cry
The name of the piece of music that plays in episode 126 is Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 in E Minor “From the New World”: IV. Allegro con fuoco
Beautiful piece of music that heightens the experience of the anime in its grandeur and makes the carthasis of the moment feel sublime
You guys are so authentic and amazing. I'm so glad you guys are enjoying the show, it's such a magnificence! One Piece is so beautiful and my heart swells when reactors understand the core emotions that this show portrays!
The speed at which you guys are uploading... I love you guys 🤗
when i saw this as a 10 year old i was pumped, luffy and vivi was my heroes
Hey if y’all haven’t already passed episode 135 in patreon I recommend watching it although its filler it shows a little of zoros bounty hunting days with johnny and yosaku
Symphony No.9 is the name of the music piece, London symphony Orchestra does it well. Still one of my favourite fights ever, only the original episode is cut like this with the music.
The epic music is the 4th movement of Dvorak's 9th symphony "New world"
The last episode is the one where the music is the most amazing choreography with what's taking place. They took "The New World Symphony" and perfectly aligned it with the action. I have no idea how they did that or who was responsible, but they deserve a raise.
i still remember when i read it on manga 20 years ago, and that was one of the best feeling to be inspired and driven so good to never give up, especially when you have so strong purposes in life (dreams, friends, etc) easily Alabasta top 3 arc in OP 🔥
Thank you girls for giving back the memories in fresh and fun way, ignite the good old days
RIP to Pell, the absolute GOAT 😥
Hmmmmm
The Will of P @@gyomeihimejima1625
RIP?………Hmmmmmmmm
I could watch you guys reacting to this show every day, and I don't normally care for reaction content outside of major plot events. If you put out multiple episodes a day where you binged it, I'd probably still watch every single one! Really enjoying rewatching the show for the 10th time with you both!!
who else time there meals to be done and ready when they upload?...like clock work!!
Me 😂
We can now say that you have seen season 2, you will be able to judge season 2 of netflix by knowing the basic material.
(Of course I tried to run away in the middle of the battle lol)
In particular, at the end of the battle, it touched my heart to see him standing up and talking in the sandstorm after being hit by an iron bat and breaking his bone.
I've been watching a cartoon OnePiece since elementary school and I'm still watching the latest OnePiece cartoon even when I'm 30.
But the episode will never be forgotten.
The music they used at the end is Dvorak's new world symphony number 9!
And that's why we love One Piece so much 🥰
Because of how goofy, friendly, and cheerful Luffy is most of the time, it's easy to forget how intimidating and scary he can be when he's truly angry and fighting seriously.
Always gives me chills . One of the best fight scenes in OP and music in the background 🥶 18:09
Alasbasta arc is soo good, and it is very hard to believe that the upcoming arcs surpassed it... One Piece is Real... Wow
The epic music playing as Luffy ends Crocodile is an excerpt from Antonín Dvořák's "New World Symphony" Allegro con fuoco
Grills make sure CrocoBoi is not doing the heat wave and Humidity trying to take the happiness of the sisters. lol
Luffy vs crocodile third fight was also one of my fav and yes the music was so epic
If you are crying so much over Pell, then you will have a rough journey ahead😅
I'm one of the many french fans of OP from a long time and you guys are, by far, the best reaction channel
Muchas gracias por subir estos episodios, lo viví junto con ustedes.
Stories about undying loyalty and grand sacrifice... they just hit different don't they
Gum-Gum Storm and then the rain comes. You gotta love it. 🔥🔥🔥
Incredible action and conclusion to alabasta. I teared up when watching this.
Those mid-episode title cards will continue being your nemesis *forever*. Buckle up! 😁
There's a fan edit of "Luffy defeats D______ngo" with a different arrangement of NWSm4 and it's canon afaic
@@curtishammer748 That sounds epic! I need to check that out!
Arlong Park made me realize One Piece was something special. Alabasta made me realize that One Piece is one of my favorite anime.
Oda is cooking the feelings of those of you who are watching hehehe...
Crocodile laughter is very distinctive...
Damn. I can't believe i cried again. Hahahahaha your reactions are so genuine that i can't help but relate.
This is just the beginning of incredible storytelling, brilliantly woven together for over 2 decades
Episode 126 of One Piece is always one I come back to. Love Luffy’s intensity at 16:30
