Nice video and message Austin! I'm not even sure how I stumbled across your channel tonight but a friend of mine's son is a drummer in Nashville and working to make his way so I forwarded it to him. Best of luck to you for an amazing 2023 sir!

By no means is it all-inclusive but it’s a start! I’ll have to do more on the topic. Best of luck and well wishes to your friend!

Nashville is a tough place for a starving musician.its a closed loop city. And they try to keep it that way.

Write more, practice more... makes sense to me. Do you write on a DAW? Produce your own stuff as demos? Sounds nice to be in such an area that is so vibrant with music.

Loved this episode! Thanks for sharing your insight/exp. Moved here about a year ago and have loved every day. I have also met a ton of great guys/gals going to jam sessions as well! Cheers!

You failed to mention great guitar pickers are a dime a dozen in Nashville.

i just wanna move to nashville to hang out with some cool players and maybe learn some stuff from them. It must be really cool to know that everybody else is a musician too, and you can all relate to each other

Part of my “attitude problem” was adjusting to seemingly every other person being a “musician” or “artist.” Everyone has the right to dream, and that’s what I tell myself. There is plenty of room at the table for everyone. ❤️

As an aside if you’d do a course on how to do those pedal steel bends (and bend technique in general) I’d buy it ;). I was a horn player before guitar and have never gotten my head around the concept that the note is not the note but you move the strings to get there …

I think of the destination before the journey begins. That’s my mindset anyway! Thank you!!

great picture of the Nashville music scene! Still, there must be a pretty high bar of entry to be out there, in that town, trying to be one of those gals/guys. It must be the sort of thing where you had to do a reality check on yourself before you came out, to make sure you were ready (though you clearly were, don't get me wrong!)

There’s no way to prepare ahead for something like this, ya just gotta jump in and try to swim!

I do want to move to Nashville but not as a guitarist or a songwriter. How is the situation with the repair and maintenance side of guitarism. Are there enough places where you can take your instruments and amps/pedals and get them repaired/modded/maintained for a good price and a quality guarantee?

A great tech who’s schedule isn’t back-logged is hard to find. A lot of times, I’ll need work done within days or a single day. Lucky I have a guy I can rely on for pretty fast turn arounds. So, in that spirit, I’d say give it a shot!

    Nashville
    High rent
    Bad traffic
    100,000 Guitar players
2 drummers in the whole city
    Same with Bass players
    Everything is overpriced
East Nashville is full of hipsters that think they play the blues on their 62 Telecasters yet all come from a bunch of rich families that sent them all to music theory school and they play with no soul.
