- I WAS CONDUCTING A FIRST AMENDMENT AUDIT AT THE POST OFFICE IN SANFORD, MAINE. AS I WAS OUTSIDE RECORDING SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO SEEM TO NOT UNDERSTAND THEIR RIGHTS IN THIS COUNTRY APPROACHED ME AND EITHER QUESTIONED ME OR DESPISED THE FACT THAT THEY WERE IN THE PUBLICS EYE OF A CAMERA.
ONE LADY APPROACHED ME WITH A VERY HOSTILE ATTITUDE AND CAME UP TO MY FACE WHILE A POSTAL EMPLOYEE HID BEHIND THE PILLAR LOL. SHE STATED THAT THEY WERE GOING TO CALL THE POLICE WHILE I WAS STANDING THERE SILENTLY MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS.. SOMETHING PEOPLE REALLY NEED TO LEARN IN THIS COUNTRY.
THE SANFORD, MAINE POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICER CYR..ARRIVED AND MADE HIS WAY INTO THE POST OFFICE. I FOLLOWED CLOSE BEHIND AS I WAS STOPPED AT THE DOOR FROM DOING BUSINESS FROM A POSTAL EMPLOYEE. I ADVISED HER OF HER RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING PHOTOGRAPHY IN WHICH SHE IGNORED.
I ENDED UP GOING BY HER AND SHOWED HER POSTER 7. THE OFFICER WAS SPEAKING WITH THE LADY WHO CALLED WHEN HE LASHED OUT ABOUT HIM HAVING A PRIVATE CONVERSATION 🙄.. I REPLIED THAT THERE WAS NO EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY IN PUBLIC AND FOLLOWED. THEY ENDED UP SEPARATING OUTSIDE AND THE LIEUTENANT DROVE UP.
I ASKED FOR THEM BOTH TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES IN WHICH THEY BOTH REFUSED. THEY ALSO STATED THAT I WAS THE SAME GUY FROM YORK COUNTY. THAT I WAS AN IDIOT AND THAT I WAS JUST TRYING TO RILE PEOPLE UP.. I'M ALL ABOUT EDUCATING BY THE WAY OF OUR RIGHTS. NOT INFRINGING LIKE THIS POLICE DEPARTMENT DID.
I ENDED UP GOING BACK INSIDE AFTER DISMISSING THE TYRANT COPS OUTSIDE WHO DID THE DRIVE OF SHAME TO SHOW I WASN'T BULLIED OUT. EVERYONE IN THIS VIDEO FAILED TO IDENTIFY AND TRIED INFRINGING ON MY RIGHTS TO RECORD IN A PUBLIC SPACE.
I MADE MY WAY OVER TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND MADE A (LIVE STREAM) (LINK BELOW) TO FILE COMPLAINTS AND ENDED UP IDENTIFYING THE OFFICERS ONE IN WHICH I WAS SPEAKING WITH LT. WAGNER. I ALSO ENDED UP SPEAKING WITH THE CHIEF OF POLICE WHO IS NOW RETIRED. LET'S TELL THE NEW CHIEF HOW HIS OFFICERS ARE ACTING OUT IN THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

The post master at mine is always there. He comes in at like 4 in the morning and is there til nearly close. I think he is the exception to the rule though.

It baffles me that people think that they cannot be filmed in public. It's mind boggling. Here's a personal example, I was at a public pool a few weeks ago with my kids and a lady there was taking pictures and video. Not once did it cross my mind to start screaming at her and demanding she not film me or my kids. It is insane to think you have a right to privacy in public.
Some people truly believe, 100%, that is illegal to record a kid out in public.
Have no idea where they think that law came from, but some swear by it.
They've been lied to by the Democrat-Media Complex.

I've watched quite a few of these 1st amendment audit videos (by various auditors). I'd say about 98% of the people in the videos always say "You can't take my picture without my permission". Where do these people get this idea?! I'm not a particularly learned person, but even I know that I have no expectation of privacy in public.
Don’t underestimate your knowledge. Being (learned) has nothing to do with school.
Most people have only half the truth - for commercial purposes (selling products or services) you do need permission (model release) but for news gathering/editorial or personal usage, no permission is required. And BTW, you don't even need to be press - photo/video in public is covered under free speech.

Good heavens. The people saying you need permission to film them in public should certainly know better. If I come across someone filming, I would try to stay out of their way as a courtesy. When on vacation, you don't ruin other vacationers pics by walking in front of the camera, and no one asks those around them for permission if they get in the shot. What happened to common sense? If someone approached me and asked what I was doing, I'd say minding my own business...you should try it. LOL

Wow. Last time I saw a penny item was back in 2007 when I worked at Autozone. I had to replace the prices in the morning and remove the non selling items.(unsold for over a year/more or less). These items were sold for 1 cent each but only for one day. Afterwards, these items were removed and sent back to the warehouse.

That's the most run down, shabby post office I've ever seen. The Postmaster there is obviously negligent on more than employee training.
I used to live in sanford.. trust me when I say you ran into the classier people than you normally would. That guy in the beginning you said was messed up on something, that's just how he normally is. hes really not on drugs believe it or not. I used to work at several places in town and would speak to him often and he is a nice guy. I would edit that part out personally... otherwise, great job on the audit as always!
