The sizes of all these churches is all over the map. How Germany's Ulm Munster was included when Germany's largest cathedral (by far) is Cologne Cathedral.
Thanks for the comment! We had to focus on just 15 churches for this video, but stay tuned for a special video about Cologne Cathedral.
@@MegaBuilds5280 Well, your title is misleading, because these are NOT the top 15 largest churches in the world.
While the cologne cathedral is bigger by area, the Ulm Munster has the highest church tower in the world. At least until the sagrada familia will be finished.
That's not correct - the Dom of cologne isn't as high as the Ulmer Münster.
You can measure size in several ways: footprint (area), height, capacity (of people).
Wow! Those are some big churches you got there.
The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow and the People's Salvation Cathedral in Bucharest were both overlooked.
Thanks for letting us know about the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and People's Salvation Cathedral! Those are both incredible structures, and we apologize for not featuring them in this video. With so many amazing churches in the world, it's tough to fit them all in just 15 spots! However, we hear you, and these two definitely deserve recognition.
@@MegaBuilds5280 The original Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow was built to commemorate the defeat of Napoleon and was the first place that Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture was performed. Stalin blew the building up to build a monument to Lenin but it never happened. After the end of the USSR the Cathedral was rebuilt (same design but new construction methods). The artwork is amazing and a joy to see.
The Ulmer Münster is not "one of the tallest" - it's THE tallest church in the world since the Sagrada Familia still isn't finished.
Greetings from Ulm.
There's The Glory Dome too in Nigeria seating 100,000 people for services.
You're absolutely right about The Glory Dome in Nigeria! It sounds like an impressive structure with a seating capacity of 100,000 people. Thanks for letting us know about it. With so many amazing churches around the world, it's easy to miss some!
They are beautiful & will love to take my pilgrims someday..
Te ha faltado, como dato curioso, decir que en la catedral de Sevilla se encuentra enterrado Cristóbal Colón.
-What about St. Paul's in London?
St. Paul's Cathedral in London is a magnificent and historically important church. Since this video focused on the largest churches by size, it didn't quite make our list. But that doesn't diminish its significance! Would you be interested in a future video exploring iconic cathedrals regardless of their size?
@@MegaBuilds5280 Then why you excluded the San Marco Basilica in Venice?
How about the Basilica of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Newark, New Jersey, USA???
That's a great suggestion! I'll definitely consider featuring it in one of our upcoming videos.
A very instructive film , thank you ! Nonetheless l was very surprised that the Christian orthodox magnificent heritage in Eastern Europe was neglected what about the cathedrals in Russia, Romania , Serbia, Bulgaria , eastern Poland , Georgia , Armenia and last but not least what about the Greek World !!! At the end it makes you feel that the full picture is missing !!!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your thoughts! We're happy to hear you found the video instructive.
You're absolutely right - the Eastern Orthodox world has a rich and magnificent Christian heritage, with stunning cathedrals in Russia, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Poland, Georgia, Armenia, and Greece. We apologize for not being able to feature them all in this particular video.
Praise the Lord
Why are the Cologne Cathedral and the Basilica/Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC missing from this list? And while that church in Ethiopia at 5:46 is an impressive building, it is way too small to be included on any list of the 15 LARGEST churches in the world. This is NOT an authoritative list, by any means!
A beautiful topic. Likewise, we want the largest and most beautiful 15 masjid in the world
Thank you, we love exploring beautiful houses of worship! That's a great idea - we recently did one about Hagia Sophia, check it out: th-cam.com/video/dtuQjo2C8f0/w-d-xo.html
@@MegaBuilds5280 Hagia Sophia was originally a church, but on the other hand, there is the Cordoba Mosque, which was established as a mosque.
@@user-kj8yl6sn2z Indeed. Todays is a Mosque again, and before that was a Museum. It has an unique history.
Good video for Western Christianity but i looks like you don't know Western Europe and it's Orthodox Cathedrals like Saint Sava in Serbia and many other Orthodox Huge Cathedrals ☦️
Greetings brother. Χριστός Ανέστη
Simplesmente incrível!
We are glad you like it. Thanks!

Olá, boa tarde. Belas catedrais, belo vídeo.
That church is NOT St. Paul's outside the walls. It's Santa Maria Maggiore.
I knew it looked familiar, because I have visited Santa Maria Maggiore!
It is the buildings like the Hagia Sophia thaata aaaaare the true masterpieces. Building a huge building - church or otherwise - in the 20thC (such as the ones in Brazil and the Ivory Coast) is relatively easy with modern technology, building Hagia Sophia in the SIXTH CENTURY when everything was done by hand and that included all the heavy lifting and carving of the stones is a far far more impressive undertaking. All magnificent churches - and many more you didn't include - but it is the OLDEST that are truly the most impressive simply because they were a true work of love for and to the glory of God WITHOUT MODERN TECHNOLOGY to help them.
PS the cathedral in Cairo is the exception in modern terms, that is truly truly beautiful and equals anything from mediaeval times in beauty. Showing both reverence and love for God while also being a monument to the everlasting glory of God.
You make an excellent point about the challenges of early construction! The Hagia Sophia is indeed a marvel of engineering for its time. We absolutely agree that the oldest churches hold a special fascination because of the dedication and ingenuity that went into their construction.
You didn't include any of the magnificent cathedrals in China, whether Anglican, Catholic or Orthodox.
You're absolutely right - there are stunning cathedrals in China! With so many amazing churches around the world, we unfortunately had to focus on just 15 for this video. Are there any specific cathedrals in China you find particularly beautiful or historically fascinating?
What about Barcelona?
We made a full video for Sagrada Familia. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/AnB-6XXrKPA/w-d-xo.html
Disappointed that the Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC was overlooked.
Attended several masses in the basilica. An absolutely stunningly beautiful church.
Thanks for sharing! We had to focus on just 15 churches for this video, but we'll definitely take a look at the Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for a future video. Thank you!
I Apologize
You showed 3 Orthodox Cathedrals, The Egyptian one, The Ethiopian one and the Hagia Sophia of Constantinople ☦️💒
Thanks you brother
We appreciate your support and are glad you enjoyed the content!
I do not believe that Bete Giyorgis is one of the largest churches in the world.
More like top 15 wastes of time and money in the world.
