It is a switch that can be switched only with the help of magnetic flux without touching anything.Reed switches are of two types.One with two terminal and another with three terminals.Magnetic switch with two terminals shall be normal close or normally open mode.If it normally closed,it will open when the magnetic field is applied.
A three terminal reed switch has one terminal next to it which is common.And two terminals,one is normally close and the other is normally open.When the magnetic flux comes near this switch,the common terminal will be connected to the normally open terminal.Otherwise the common terminal is connected to the normally closed terminal.
