    So when do you spray hair with water? I think maybe I be spraying too much cuz the shine and Jam turns white and come thru the braids

    • @keepingupwithkham
      @keepingupwithkham  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no! I would spray (lightly) before I even start braiding or parting. Section the hair into two parts. Lightly spray water, then add any product you'd like to use (curling cream, hair butter, etc.), then lightly add some oil (peppermint, olive oil, caster oil mixed with another oil) to seal the ends. Do that for both of the two parts. Then when you start braiding add the Shine n Jam to make your parts neat, and then to the section that you're about to braid... make sure to comb/brush through to work it in and allow it to work properly.
      * also, currently I've added the EBIN New York Braid Formula Condition Gel to my list of products if you're looking for a different hair gel. Check my latest video out and you'll see how I use both Shine n Jam and the EBIN gel while doing his hair.
      Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! 💙

      @@keepingupwithkham I actually learned how to braid because I was the only biracial let alone brown or black person in the horrible town I had to live in in the mid to late 80s early 90s and not even my family my white mother and grandmother cuz my father took I knew had to do my hair because nobody would teach her because you know how it was back then and if you don't just ask your mom and dad trust me it wasn't friendly to white women with brown kids so I just had to figure it out how to do it on my own and then I saw these courses online from this lady who is like the baddest brater ever from Detroit and I took her courses and lo and behold I left a ton of things and I know on top of my regular career in film and television work behind the camera I do hair on the side and I do pretty well at it so I just want to get better and better everyday and by the when I learned so much from watching the videos from all of you guys to thank you so much and thank you so much for the lovely comments God bless you and I appreciate the comments for my family thank you

    I'm guessing you mean 16 braids in total & 8 on each side but it's very cute. Can shine & jam be used on white hair (Meaning is it a gel or gel & grease combo) ?? My BEST friend is a beautiful brown girl (even tho she hates that I say brown, she says black bc she's darker) & she used a dark colored gel on my blonde hair & it definitely wasn't meant for my hair, it kinda changed my hair color until we washed it like 5 times. But what you're using is clear.

    • @keepingupwithkham
      @keepingupwithkham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes Shine n Jam can definitely be used on all hair types/textures. There are some coloured versions of the gel (i.e. the red jar) but it shouldn't change your hair colour, it won't flake either, and it won't make it hard or crunchy. If you're in need of a good gel that will work well with your hair type you can definitely try this!

    How do you keep his hair from tangling my son is tender headed and his hair tangles so much

    • @keepingupwithkham
      @keepingupwithkham  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A really good brush (the one that has the separate pieces, works... it's linked in my more recent videos), a wide tooth comb as well. I do a lot of detangling while washing his hair, finger detangle with shampoo and them finger detangle and brush with conditioner and I then I put his hair into about 4 or 5 braids and then wash his hair out with the braids in.
      I also, use a spray bottle to keep his hair wet while trying to detangle and braid unless I'm trying to braid dry.
      And when you are braiding you have to comb and brush out as you go, I often stop many many times to comb or brush because if not it's just tangled and Kham complains.
      So finger detangling, sectioning while in conditioner, a really good brush, and just detangling as you braid.
      Hope this helps!

      Can’t remember exactly but probably a week/week and a half. But it could last you two plus if that’s what you want it to do. Regular maintenance of it at night and during playtime would make it easier to last longer… but boys are boys/kids are kids and nothing lasts long 😂

    Please don't hate but just the tip the way you're supposed to put in any kind of styling Aid especially shine and jam is your actually don't put it on the scalp you supposed to put it on the 1st from the route starting at the route for the 1st at that like the hair say two to two-and-a-half in of growth. It absolutely does not go on the scalp the only thing that goes on the scalp is something that's his scalp conditioner also I used Tynan Jam as well as something called Paul Mitchell's waxworks

    • @keepingupwithkham
      @keepingupwithkham  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thanks for the info on just putting the product on the root. I do it this way because it's easier to help with parting the hair, and I also use hair food/grease on the scalp afterwards. I've always done this in my hair and never had any issues, and the same goes for his hair. But I will def keep this in mind!

    • @lill5447
      @lill5447 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keepingupwithkham yeah you put the route or scalp conditioner right on the part in the hair scalp on the scalp not the hair like you didn't the video then you use shine and jam I also use in combination with that I use Paul Mitchell's waxworks and works absolutely fabulous. At the end of my braids up what I do is I take a regular moose I even just get it from Dollar Tree just a basic mousse were white people even I get like a nice little palm. Spread it out in my hands and then gently just tap it onto the braided hair and then I put a du-rag on the client's head and then I take hair dryer with a diffuser on medium Heat and then I do that for me being 90 seconds to 2 minutes until it's dry and then I take off DG reg spray it with a shiny spray or would I actually use is I take coconut oil hundred percent coconut oil 10 I get from FreshCo or Safeway when it's left out on the counter it goes to completely to liquid oil so what I do first is I put in a tiny bottle like a little spray bottle and then I let it go to liquid and then I spray on a light mist of that on top of the freshly braided and dried hair I tell the client to always sleep with their hair wrapped for Ubly in durag cap with the elastic band that goes all around or just a regular durag with the ties and it lasts literally depending on how fast the hair grows it lasts between three weeks to a month
