      crush them first, then separated by air separator.

      @@moondog4313 hi, actually cables go to the crusher, then coming out the mixtures of the plastic granules and copper granules, the mixtures go to the air separator table, the air separator separate the mixtures by air, cause of different density of the copper and plastics, copper heavier, comes out from front outlet, plastics lighter, comes out from the back outlet, that’s how it separates them.😊😊

    That style of initial shredder has been around for several decades one use back then was shredding used tires and old pallets we had one in a plastics plant that was used to initially shred the left over parts of newsprint rolls those ' flakes' of newsprint then went into a hammer mill and that product looked a lot like cellulose insulation and that in turn was mixed with a formaldehyde/ urea based resin to make thermoplastic granules to be shipped to customers who made electrical outlets and such. A forward thinking recycling idea back in the seventies as that scrap newsprint would go to a land fill. The brand of shredder we had was Mitz and Merrill I believe. They made bigger ones that shred while automobiles

    How does it separate the copper from the insulation?

    • @chefjoesplaylists2565
      @chefjoesplaylists2565 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It uses an AC eddy current magnet and a DC electromagnet. The wire is ground to dust and th DC electromagnet pulls out any Iron or Nickel based wire dust. Then the eddy current magnet pulls any conductive but non magnetizable metal, like Copper and aluminum.

      @@chefjoesplaylists2565 And to better understand eddy current, instead of passing bits of copper over an electromagnet, as in this video, there are examples of a rare-earth magnet being dropped down a copper pipe and taking quite a while to fall due to the eddy current

    Recently read that they came out with a new approved Copper clad aluminum wire to help with very expensive copper wire. Its called CCA wire that stands for copper clad aluminum. Said that with the 10% of copper be bonded to aluminium conductor no way right now to recycle it. They are placing signs on new homes stating not to bother stealing worthless wire..

      @@johnye4433 still will not separate due to size and bond strength unless you can orient the wire to the centrifugal force to make the metal flow in the appropriate direction. Tiny pieces would be near impossible to get 50% oriented. You can melt the fins off al/cu radiators. It would take electrochemical refining, or more steps than that even. Chances are the copper is a small % anyway. So dirty aluminum is about it!

    As a superintendent for a large construction company I'm always looking for ways to consolidate waste / sell unused or damaged construction materials, and maximize profits long term. With 130 electricians on our projects and different renovations ,we accumulate a pick up truck load every 4-6 day. Can this be scaled down to 1/4th this size and produce the accuracy of cleaning the outer coating from copper? What would a system like we see in the video cost to purchase everything ( in USD$$$ please )

  • @JeffDeWitt

    Very interesting. I see how it separates the copper from the insulation, but what about other metals? You might have coax with a copper center conductor and an aluminum mesh. We also see some kind of little box going into the shredder, if it has any steel in it how does that get separated?

    • @encywell
      @encywell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi there are magnet which could suck the iron out, if copper cables and aluminum cables go to the crusher together, finally copper granules and aluminum granules would mix together. But if the cables contain the copper and aluminum themselves, you know, the shapes of the aluminum and copper generally different, sometimes aluminum is like a coil sheet wrapped copper conductor, our machines could separate such cables then, that means you could finally get pure copper granules or pure aluminum granules, or both pure granules separated.😊😊
