I had seen "Gardish" in a theatre when it had released in 1993 and believe me after this film Mr. Mukesh Rishi was known as Billa Jilani (character's name) for a couple of years. All the credit goes to him, his director (Priyadarshan), DOP (Santosh Sivan) and all the co-actors. Amrish Puri who himself had done so many villian characters played the role of a simple father who is a constable and dreams that his son (Jackie Shroff) should become a Police officer one day. The theatre had erupted with claps and whistles when Jackie Shroff battles Mr. Mukesh Rishi (Billa Jalani) in the film. Amazing debut.🙂
