    I had previously wired the reflectors to a harness and plugged it into my trailer wiring harness as if it were a trailer. It was a good option that didn't compromise the factory wiring, however I discovered that power via the trailer harness is constant, even when the car is completely off. Today I rewired it per your system and it works perfectly. One note is that on my 2020 Crosstrek Sport I had to use the grey wire instead of the green wire for the turn signal. Tried it on green and it didn't work. Thanks for the video!

    Pretty cool. I’m in Farmington Mn, and I just purchased a 2022 Crosstrek. Thanks for the info.

    Great video, I'm definitely doing this mod. Weird that they obviously designed the reflector with a light dish but didn't use it. BTW you're killing me with setting your lenses down face-down lol

      for your consideration on japan parts.com they sell a i think oem? replacement unit for these reflectors that just are lights and they look really good def. better than the diy version

    I was thinking of doing this with my Crosstrek, but it's on order because I wanted a manual. I was thinking of getting those circle style white led trailer light and pop those into that unused section for extra reverse lights. And as a side note, 3057 and 3157 are the same bulb, but the 31s are just a hair brighter when illuminated. All in all, this is a great idea and thanks for the video

      Thanks for the info. The only problem with putting lights into these housings is the only 2 mounting tabs are on the top 1/3rd of the light and it only like 1/2" deep so you might end up cutting them off in the process unless you could make new mounting tabs? Maybe even glue them into the bumper since you can access it from the back.

      @@KickincashDotcom if you check out Amazon item number "B01F42610Q" I was thinking they they might be minimally invasive and still let you retain those mounting clips. The light housings look like they can be trimmed back a little if needed (especially since the Subaru reflector would keep it water tight) and they might just fit in there alright

      govna47 I bet those would work. If they do reply on here and let me see them. I might add them in the unused space and still retain the brake light function I already did.

    Did this and it's perfect. I used male and female disconnects instead of soldering, just in case I need to pop off the reflectors

    Great video, love the safety of the extra lighting. If I am wiring for the trailer plug anyway would it make sense to get that 4 pin plug under the car and use another 4 pin plug to wire the lights? Then I could swap them while towing as they wouldn’t be visible.

      I did just that. Bought the curt trailer adapter and the 24 feet male so if I need to hook up a trailer just unplug rear fog lights and plug trailer.

    thanks for sharing!. I have a basic question, when installing and connecting wires, would you recommend to unplug or disconnect the car battery first? or is it enough to just have the car parked with the engine off? I guess I am just trying to be cautious about blowing a fuse or something unexpected. thanks.

    • @Brick-Slayer
      @Brick-Slayer ปีที่แล้ว

      You should disconnect the battery if you can.

    I am thinking to do the same thing. Thanks you for doing it first.
    Another thing I want to do to the car are the red reflectors on the lift gate, I want to make them into tail lights. So there is a different brightness when brake depressed.
    Any thoughts on that? Solder LEDs?

      Thanks for the comment. Are you talking about the above and below the reverse lights on the lift gate? I don’t see any other reflectors on there?

    • @Yingchlin
      @Yingchlin 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KickincashDotcom YES, those. They trigger my OCD for not doing anything. Just a pain to look at. To be honest, they don't even reflect lights I think.

    • @KickincashDotcom
      @KickincashDotcom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wilbur Lin yeah they look like just wasted space you would probably have to drill holes in the back side and mount small LEDs but try to make it match the light coming out of the others. I may try it but am gonna wait till summer as it’s winter her in MN.

      Just picked up the car. I will wait until April to do the bumper reflectors and in the mean time find a wire for hard wiring dash cam. Considering replacing the auto diming rear mirror with a wide truck mirror and use the wiring for dash cam.

      The reflectors not being lights bothers me SO bad on this car. I bought the 2018 assuming the brake light went across onto the hatch and wasn’t just for show.

    What size of tires are those and what lift kit did you put on? Loving your crosstrek

    • @KickincashDotcom
      @KickincashDotcom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the 235/75/R15 BFG’s on method racing rims. I would NOT recommend this tire size. I had to modify the inner fender liners, cut front bumper corners just to get it not to rub. I also cannot instal front if flaps because the tires will hit and rip them off. So go with the 215’s and you will have no issues. Tirerack.com was the cheapest place I found for wheel and tire packages. I have the ADF 1 1/2” front lift and 1 7/8” rear lift. The lift was easy to install and haven’t had any issues yet put on 9000 miles so far. Tires are a little noisy compared to stock. Thanks for the question!

      @@KickincashDotcom Thanks for the quick response! I just got the orange limited as well, so slowly putting on the upgrades/mods. I still use the car as a commute vehicle (100 miles a day) and debating whether to go with a lift and bigger tire, or stick with 215/75/R15 and no lift to save on mpg. How is your mpg with the lift so far?

    • @KickincashDotcom
      @KickincashDotcom  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alex K so far the little mpg gauge depending how accurate it is still averages 33 on highway in the warm weather. In the winter I let it warm up cuz I’m in Minnesota so it drops to 22-24 mpg and I only drive a couple miles a day to work. The only thing that will hurt mpg is a roof rack. Other than that I say go for it lift and bfg’s but use the stock 215 size so it doesn’t rub they will look the same as 235’s.

    • @KickincashDotcom
      @KickincashDotcom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the 235/75/15 but I had to modify the inner fenders so they don't rub and cannot fit front mud flaps cuz they will rub. I also have the 1.5" ADF front life and 1 7/8" rear lift.
