Great video! I am confused about leaving the humidifier on all year including the hot and humid summer months. That also conflicts with many other professionals. For example, one website says “Many people with central humidifiers go into the cooling season forgetting to shut down the humidifier for the summer. A central air conditioner will not cool or dehumidify properly if the humidifier is running. So please remember to turn your humidifier off at the end of each heating season. But not only that, you should use this time to clean your humidifier and remove or replace the water panel.”

Maybe what he meant was that you would turn off your humidifier by shutting it off at the control but you leave the flap open all the time for better airflow. I totally agree that you should never operate the humidifier during humid months, that could be disastrous.

@@MDavis-hd8gb The water supply and damper should always be closed during cooling season .

can anyone help. my Vanee 60 motors are spinning and i maintained it by cleaning the filters, but when i check intake vents in my home none of them have enough negative pressure pulling in air. the hose is not obstructed and I ensured no kinks in it. do I need duct cleaning? would that fix the problem.

With the air exchanger what if u don’t have a furnace? Where does the air go to heat up?

We dont wash the dehumidifier filter, instead we replace with new one.

Did you pull a fast one, and use the same filter? :)

I know this video is 5 years old, and probably wont be replied to from the maker of it. But your humidifier advice for summer is wrong reading a whole bunch of other sites. Why would you want that left open in the summer? A humidifier is used in the winter to increase your house humidity, because water is released onto the pad when heat is called for, which then is pushed into your return and moved around the house. In the summer, we want humidity to decrease with ac usage and the water is turned off.. So why would you leave that flap open for the air to just go into the return? The flap should be set to summer so the air is blocked so it flows up the plenum instead. Is it because you have the pad side on the return? With these type of humidifiers you can install them opposite. Now if I am wrong, I am always game to learn something new as to why you would leave that flap open all year long
