      @@1st_LONG_CFB They are "saving" him and not risking injury. He played 10 snaps against UTC (and was visibly pissed when they said he was done for the day). He played 29 snaps against NC State (more than any other D Lineman) and was pulled with the rest of the 1st string early in the second half. Most starters were literally off the field midway through the 2nd quarter against Kent State. He is still impacting the game, and would have had a sack against Kent state (in limited snaps) but got held as he was about to get to the QB, and the hold WAS called.

    What I’m hearing is that Oklahoma has speed issues. That they may be too slow.
    If so then Tennessee should do what Texas did to MI’s vaunted D-line: wear them out. Make them run side to side. Then when OU puts in their backups, run straight at them.
    Texas did that to perfection to MI and their future NFL d-linemen. Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant.

  • @NathanMarks-mi7zx
    @NathanMarks-mi7zx วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Ton of rotation on D-line. When you are trying to keep him healthy and rest of D-line being a terror why take a chance. Omar Norman Lott played 15 snaps against NCST and had a sack and pretty sure couple TFL.
    They are playing everyone on the bench at TN right now.
    When you rotate 3 sets of D lineman all are fresh and all have playing experience so no huge fall off in experience and maximize talent

  • @Craigarooger

    It's a combination of things with Pearce. He's sat the entire 2nd half in two of the 3 games because it's been a blowout and even vs NC State he didn't play in the 4th quarter. He's playing less than 20 snaps a game. He only played 10 snaps vs UTC, so he just hasn't seen a lot of playing time because UT hasn't needed him. Both UTC and Kent State audibled to run away from him whenever he was in the game. NC State doubled him all game, and all 3 teams went with 2 or 3 step drops and quick passes with him in the game. I think UTC did a five step drop once and it was a sack by Tyre West. So teams definitely have a game plan for when he's in the game and he's changing their offense just by being on the field.

    Georgia is the only team to slow Tennessee down. SC in 2022 we still put up 38. The OU d-line will hold up good for a while but if we get tempo going then the dam will break at some point. John Campbell was a starter at LT last year but was injured. Pearce doesn’t have stats bc he hasn’t played many snaps this year and when he does they are sliding his way or doubling him which opens the rest of the line, we are rotating 12-13 guys on the d-line, no need to get him hurt vs a Kent State or Chatt. It was obvious that those teams made an emphasis on getting the ball out quick as well so the sack numbers are lower than what we would expect thus far.

    The problem for OU is that all of their stats have came against an offense that's nothing like Tennessee.
    The gameplan against us is to stop the run with 5 preferably, and 6 at most.
    If you play zero coverage then Nico will run straight ahead for a touchdown. If you play one deep then you get burnt down the sideline for touchdowns.
    The best defense against UT is two deep safeties and a three man line. So far, only UGA has had the personnel. We'll see if Oklahoma does. If they don't it's a blowout. GoVols.
