Yaahhhh! I'm excited too! I've been at the studio ALL DAY taking footage and editing more tutorials. I'll be so good at editing by the time they are all covered! There is so much to cover I don't think I'll ever have to stop!
Finally, someone else who hoops to the right! In all the other tutorials I've seen, the instructor hoops to the left, so I have to figure it all out in reverse! I've only been hooping for a few weeks, but I can angle the hoop, bring it up into and out of lasso with both hands, the basic stuff. Chest hooping is my biggest feat, but I'm getting better!
just 3 weeks ago, i was only able to hoop around my waist. Now i'm able to do most of the tricks i learnt from your clips. you dissect the steps very intelligently. SaFire, you're a natural guru. thanks for inspiring me into hooping at 2 am. much blessings.
You have great tutorials! I'm a very beginner hooper and most tutorials I watch leave me feeling defeated like "I'll never get there", but you are spot on girl! I'm happy to subscribe!
Another fantastic tutorial! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge in such an inspirational way. After watching this tutorial, I managed to master nudging the hoop up to my neck very quickly. The first time I did it, it ended up on my neck and I was so excited I forgot what to do next! : ) Your "love the process" video is so great, I watch it whenever I need some encouragement!
@uhhlysaa 36 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch this, superpex available in Canada. It doesn't matter how heavy your hoop. It doesn't matter what hoops others are use. Use as many different hoops you can, you'll find one you like for yourself over time. I no longer use this tubing but I loved it 2 years ago. SaFire
I use all varieties of hoops but lately have been using some I made out of 1/4 inch superpex. (This is in this video) They are really light and flexible and great for multiple hooping because it ends up saving you a lot of space, both while hooping and while traveling. ~ SaFire ~
I'm just a beginner, and your tips help so much! Thanks for all your help! :) You've inspired me too, you have such grace, I need to work on that, I think when I master the moves, I will be more graceful at it. thanks again!
i've just learnt to chest hoop and now i'm trying to go in the other direction. i've found it really useful to turn in the direction of the hoop, and move the hoop round with your soulder. i think it gives you a bit longer to move how you need to, then once your body gets used to moving this part of your body it becomes smoother. thanks for the lessons, they are wonderful! x :) x
Nice tutorial. I'm stopping around 2 minutes just so I can practice the first part! I just measured my hoop...it's 38" which gives me hope that I can master the shoulders eventually! I've had my own hoop for about 1 week now and all these internet tutorials are really helpful. I'm having so much fun!!
Yes! Curve your back slightly inwards when hooping at the neck. I'm not sure it can be seen in the video but I lean back slightly to maintain at the neck. Let me know if this does the trick. ~ SaFire ~
I know I'm replying to a two year old comment and you probably won't even remember it, but I just started learning how to chest hoop today, and I was having a hard time doing the movement while standing up. I kept wanting to move my lower half. So I tried sitting down, like you said, and now I can do it, on my first day of learning this. Sitting down should be a more widely taught method for chest hooping, because it seriously works.
i wanted to get a little better at shoulder hooping before i bought your class (budding 2) and this is perfect! thank you! :) i'm at budding 1 1/2 haha slowly moving forward. you are an amazing teacher.
I do not know how i came acorss this video. But if i had the time i'm sure you would be able to teach me. You are very well spoken , explaining perfectly and you have the hoop spinning with great movement. Enjoyable video
Hahahah, TH-cam recommended this video for me because I've been watching a lot of hoop tutorials to get a feel for what I should cover in mine. I haven't watched this in YEARS, but when my friends and I first started hooping your tutorials were some of the only ones out there. We used to laugh about how you'd say "just give the hoop a shove!" and meanwhile we were dropping it and sucking super hard. We'd laugh at each other and say, "Come on, just give it a shove! So easy!"
You are great and your tutorials are so very helpful. What are the dimensions of the hoop you are using here and how heavy is it? Also, where can I buy a good hoop dancing hoop, I have a hoopnotica brand one and it is huge, 42in and also pretty heavy, around 2lbs so it is hard for me to get a good flow going if i want to speed up. Im curious as to your reccomendations on hoops, Thanks!!
@SpottyBlueSheep your age does not matter, give it a try, it is very fun and it is good excercise! a good size is the lenght from the floor to your belly buttom and it has to be a llittle bit heavy.
Hey! Thank you very much for yours videos, which gives inspiration, motivation, wonder, and a lot of jealousy xD But I have 1 request! Could you make a tutorial to explain..(outch, i'm french, it's difficult to explain in english) how to , keeping the hoop in the hands, make it go down around the body and take it back up above the head...I don't find where i have to put my hands ^^ It's would be wonderfull... thanks, and bonne continuation!
i also don't have tape on my hoop (except a plain black one. i don't know what type it is b/c the seller did it in black only for me). could that be why i'm having problems with the legs? no idea about the arms for no arms hooping though cuz it still goes up to my neck
Terrific explanations and breakdowns. You are such a motivating instructor. I've got down the 'one arm' & 'no arms' - but when I'm working to keep in on both shoulders I give myself CPR in front.... THUD THUD THUD. (I've got a broad back too. OOF!) Help please.
I don't know if you have ever heard of something called "Cosplay" before, but if you were ever interested in trying it, you would make a really incredible Tira (from a video game called, Soul Calibur! You should really think about it - I think people would flip out if they saw you do that act in a Tira cosplay - plus you might like the character a lot, since you have Hoops and Dancing in common! Great Job! :)
@ZoeSquared21 I usually hoop to the left, but I found that by switching my feet (having my left foot forward rather than my right) I can easily hoop both directions.... I figured out this trick bc when I first started hooping, I did it so much that I got sore so I just hooped in the other direction lol
great teaching. what size/weight/width etc. hoop do you use? i have a 100cm 1kg hoop but i think it's too heavy and i'm getting bruises...is it the way i'm using it or would you recommend a different hoop?
I've finally started to get the hang of chest hooping with arms in, but the hoop keeps wanting to pop back up to my neck. Do you have any tips for keeping the hoop in one "orbit" around your shoulders? Areas I should focus on for better control? I love your tutorials, I have learned so much because of them!
Just came across this video. Not sure why I'm watching it as I can't hula hoop...:/ But it looks really amazing so I have a couple of questions... Is there a point where it becomes too late to pick it up, or can you start at any age? Also, if you can start at any age, what size should you get?
Hi!Your videos are really helpful but I have a few questions.I have been practicing the chest hoop moves by starting the hoop around my neck, then nudging it down with my shoulder, proceeding with the "cat cow" movement of the upper body. The hoop will spin across my chest area a few times at an angle, then fall down. I have been making sure to keep up momentum & have tried spinning in the opposite direction to keep the hoop up on my chest and horizontal but this isn't working. Any advice?
when i shove it with my arm for the no arm hooping it goes back up to my neck ( and very quickly so it literally takes my breath away haha) what am i doing wrong? i look like u in the video. also, as for leg hooping, i still can't get it. it'll usually stop at my thighs only no matter how much i try to get it to my waist OR it'll fall straight down to my knees (thus fall) any advice?
i love your videos SaFire! but do you have any advise for me? i try so hard to chest hoop but it always keeps going right up to my neck. what am i doing wrong?
wat material is the hoop made from, cuz mine is plastic with water on the inside. Do you think i should get a wooden one, or any other kind? thx, also do u know a website off of which i can buy gd hoops? PS: u truly inspired me 2 start this amazing hobby
It looks so easy.. so far my hoop has smacked me a few times in the face and my lip is now bleeding.. I have no idea how much more pain I have to endure until I get this right! I'll keep trying though. btw, I bought a 4 lbs Acuhoop; are there any tricks for a 4lbs hoop?
Do you have any tips on where i can get beginner hoops that aren't too pricey? I've got a hoop and it come up too my belly button but it's kinda light. I have been hooping for about a month and i've gotten abunch of tricks down but chest hooping is the one thing i can't seem to do.
I cant seem to do this. ive been hooping for months and I can do this on my chest without my arms and even bring my arms in and out... but I cant hoop with my shoulder. sooo frustrating
i have a question. i can hoop on my chest with my arms in the hoop, but i continuously have to keep turning the same direction as the hoop is turning (left). how do i stay in one place?
Hey girl im just starting to hoop im a beginner, and i have notice that your hoops are smaller than the one i have just made, so whats the correct diameter, and another question, is it normal when im trying the chest hooping that my boobs become an obstacule? thank you very much you are awesome!
I'm having a really really really hard time with getting my arms in. OMG. I am SO frustrated. I'm finding that my shoulders tend to hold a lot of tension naturally, and I have very broad shoulders. I can chest hoop like crazy, but the second I try to alternate with my arms in and out my hoop goes nuts and falls. Frustrating. I'm also finding that practicing and moving in different ways that work for me, and not JUST trying to follow directions helps me learn new things. Everyone hoops different
lol you make it looks so easy with arms. Its a lot harder for me because i have a bigger bust and the boobs plus the arms make me more of a triangle shape. Should i be arching my back more for that circular shape? It just feels so awkward.
Hi. I've did a year of belly dance. and now I'm trying to learn hoop dance and I still can't bring my hoop from my leg's up to my waist, Or from my waist up to my chest or neck ! I've been trying to learn few trick's and they are a lot complicated then I imagined it would be.I can't keep the up up near my chest or hoop with my arm's in the hoop. I keep my chest in a sircle motion but the hoop keep's falling back down !
v v nice my Deer. I m Marium from Karchi Pakisan.onlyone hooper n founder of hooping in my region. Also trenner n instructor of 800 youngers in my region .I m only 14 yers old.
this might sound like a ridiculous question, but i'm really serious. will my cup size (b bordering c) cause a problem for me with chest hooping? because so far, it seems almost impossible. :(
when i chest-shoulder hoop it basically goes right up to my neck. its so annoying -_- what am i doing wrong and how can i stop it? am i hooping to fast?
I understand your pain, I feel like my boobs are getting in the way to. Im also struggling with this move. I guess there is bound to way to do it because I thought I wouldnt be able to get chest hooping with em and I finally got it. So there HAS to be a way to get this. :p good luck
Hey, Safira, I love your videos! I was wondering if you could give me some help. I'm one of those smaller girls with bigger boobs, and because of my "boob shelf" my chest hooping is almost permanently vertical. But the time I get it horizontal, it's up to my neck! Any thoughts or tips? Thanks! Your videos have helped me with so much!
I've been trying chest hooping and it's not working out thus far... I can't help but wonder would having large breasts making chest hooping difficult..if so I'm screwed..
@nirvanahopeful no.. i used to think that too, but then i saw a video of a girl with huge breasts hooping perfectly on the chest! i can't do this either :( i can only hold it for like 5 secs.
Yaahhhh!

Ur such a great person, Sandra. Im from Norway, and ust started hoopin, and I cant tell u how much I love ur tutorials! Thank you.
That is very true. Turning with the hoop can help with almost every move as it slows the rotation so we have more time to react.

i finally have chest hooping down and this video was a big help! now i'm working on chest stalls and reversals, any tips?
These are very helpful, thank you!
@Maisieelovesyou ummm... yes!!
I started with a hoop that was 42"+ bigger is better for core hooping when first learning.
@SpottyBlueSheep your age does not matter, give it a try, it is very fun and it is good excercise! a good size is the lenght from the floor to your belly buttom and it has to be a llittle bit heavy.

Safire is so beautiful. I have been a huge fan of her for years. You are such an amazing woman if your reading this Safire.

also, as for leg hooping, i still can't get it. it'll usually stop at my thighs only no matter how much i try to get it to my waist OR it'll fall straight down to my knees (thus fall)

Do you use a lighter PSI for this and or what width is the tubing you use for the hoop...I think mine may be too heavy!!! OUCH!
i love your videos SaFire! but do you have any advise for me? i try so hard to chest hoop but it always keeps going right up to my neck. what am i doing wrong?

You'll be able to do this only you have the advantage of a "shelf" for your hoop. ; )

@chasa96 you can get hoops off of ebay and amazon ( I just ordered one from ebay :)
how do you stay facing forward when youre hooping on your chest? i keep having to turn to the left...
i have a question. i can hoop on my chest with my arms in the hoop, but i continuously have to keep turning the same direction as the hoop is turning (left). how do i stay in one place?
What kind of hula hoop and weight is that one you're using right there?
Hey girl im just starting to hoop im a beginner, and i have notice that your hoops are smaller than the one i have just made, so whats the correct diameter, and another question, is it normal when im trying the chest hooping that my boobs become an obstacule? thank you very much you are awesome!

They're clearly defined.
Nice vid btw.
I'm having a really really really hard time with getting my arms in. OMG. I am SO frustrated. I'm finding that my shoulders tend to hold a lot of tension naturally, and I have very broad shoulders. this might sound like a ridiculous question, but i'm really serious. will my cup size (b bordering c) cause a problem for me with chest hooping? because so far, it seems almost impossible. :(
What diameter size hoop do you use?
With me i got neck hooping before i could bring it from my waist to my chest, actually still can't bring it from waist to chest!
when i chest-shoulder hoop it basically goes right up to my neck. its so annoying -_- what am i doing wrong and how can i stop it? am i hooping to fast?

Hey, Safira, I love your videos! I was wondering if you could give me some help. I'm one of those smaller girls with bigger boobs, and because of my "boob shelf" my chest hooping is almost permanently vertical. But the time I get it horizontal, it's up to my neck! Any thoughts or tips? Thanks!

help! i'm so bad at chest hooping. i think i've been practicing for a week but i still can't get it.
I am so bad at chest hooping! I cant keep it up! and its so painful on the breasts too
it doesnt work for me maybe its because im using 5lb wavy hoop?
@danielavarten Thanks! :D
great performance, but visual resolution is too low, too bad.
+Sean Johnson You'll note this was uploaded in 2008. This was pretty standard resolution back then.
+Jess Wagstrom You're right. I don't always check the dates. The 'hazyness' actually works with it. Do you know erinhoops? Good stuff!
*love*
@normamora Size of hoop does not matter. ;D

@nirvanahopeful no.. i used to think that too, but then i saw a video of a girl with huge breasts hooping perfectly on the chest! i can't do this either :( i can only hold it for like 5 secs.
nope.
