Kai, Ralf, Michael After that it doesn't matter. Those other guys' versions are pretty bad. Actually, borderline awful is more accurate. Walls of Jericho and consequently Ride the Sky was my first exposure to Helloween back in 1985-1986. In several ways it's a Kai Hansen song that perhaps shouldn't be sung by anyone else with the exception of Ralf Scheepers .
Wow. Would love to see more of such comments. Very interesting analysis. Would love to spend Thanksgiving with you, and chat about this over dinner. :) I'm sure you have a lot to say about many other bands... Nice job.
Las versiones en vivo no cuentan porque se graban hasta que salgan bien, escogieron la peor versión de Deris en vivo le he escuchado mejores interpretaciones, Ralph y Kiske son muy buenos.
1) Kai, Ralf, and Eugent are all doing very well on this song ! Different styles (at least for Ralf), but I like them all. 4) Michael is decent, but obviously this song is not the best for him 5) Andri (what a joke ?? was he drunk or what ??) 6) you (sorry !!)
I like the "Roughness" in hansens voice, it sounds so real and original (wich it is i know) kinda like the early misfits recordings with danzig. Every other Singer to Walls of jericho songs just stick out to much and doesnt feel real and true.
@FluffyDucati How many Deris-era songs (excluding the latest album) do Helloween play live in these days? Gamma Ray (ie. Hansen) did much more solid albums (at least from Land of the Free 'till Majestic) than Deris' Helloween ever did and they actually play songs from all of their albums (though not as much from the first three).
@steiener I appreciate it your comments toward me. I wasn't singing very seriously when I did, I just did it as a quick kind of lulz. I can sing it much better when I REALLY sing and use better equipment. I guess I'll owe you guys a full cover.
Kiske is my TOP power metal lead vocal of all time ! But in this VDO, I think EUGENT is the best ... Maybe because of 1. His powerful and melodic voice 2. High quality of recording
Despite the different version whatever, I still feel that this song is for Kai. wanna compare apple to apple? just listen to both kai & mike's studio version of victim of fate. you should see.
1. Kai Hansen He''s the founder of this Awesome song and sing it best. 2. Andi Deris He have a very powerfull voice. 3. Eugent Bushpepa He's a awesome singer i think. it would be a callenge(sry for my bad english) between Deris and him. 4. M. Kiske He sing i very good. 5.Ralf scheepers He's good. 6. Klayton Mayeaux He's okey.
Obviously this song suits Kai perfectly. Kiske can't clearly reach Kai's level even if he's a good singer. Deris is just ridiculous, he should refuse to sing such a song. It's an insult to who's listening. Scheepers really nailed it. I didn't even heard about Bushpepa but he's good and seems he doesn't even toil a bit. Well, about you. I just give an advise, improve yourself because it feels like you're breathless, anyway good voice to work on.
Morghash7, you're simplifying things too much saying that. That live recording did not made justice do Kiske, that tecnically was very good at that time. Andi should refuse to sing this song indeed, it does not favor his voice at all, and I can say the same about other songs from the Kiske era.
Matt Hells Hey! I wrote Kiske's a good singer!! Kai just has a different tone, and this song was written for Kai's voice so it's obvious that his voice fits it better than anyone else!
Eugent Ralf Kai (not a fan of his voice tone, but techenically he sings very well) Me Kiske (he is my favorite singer among them, but not for this song) Deris You
Tres excelentes voces.
Is not hard to compare them, the only difference, is that the Hansen version (original) is recorded in studio, without mentioning, that was in the Hansen's best moment of his career. By other side, the versions of Deris, Kiske and Scheepers are in live concerts (is like to compare "I Want Out" between Deris, Hansen and Kiske). The Eugent's version, I think it's so exagerated, and his style is so far of Helloween real concept (personally, I think the Eugent's version is the worse). And for our friend Klayton, is not neccesary to throw shit on his work, he's doing it the best he can do. Just continue working man :). In summary, all people can compare this song, if all this singers, record this song on studio. That's my personal review.
Of course it is Kai Hansen....I adore Kiske and his voice but back in the Walls of Jericho ERA Helloween's music simply needed Hansen's raw voice. Andi is a talented musician but his voice is not .... Helloween :)
1. Ralph Scheepers 2. Kai Hansen 3. Michael Kiske 4. You (you remember me King Diamond in some parts!! very good!!) 5. Eugent Bushpepa 6. Andi Deris They All do it very good!
@wildsouless Ok, I'll give his version a listen. This was the only one I could find at the time of Deris singing "Ride the Sky". Yeah, I was kind of fucking around on my take as a joke, I can actually sing it better(I hardly knew the lyrics at the time I sung it). Also now, I have the karaoke version of the song, so I may repost myself singing it seriously on the karaoke track.

This song was made for Hansen voice, no one can beat him!!
Hansen >> Ralf > Kiske >>> Deris
Gonzalo Hernández only Kiske can, eat it.
Diego Hernandez totalmente solo Kai
excepto How many tears.... al que mejor le sale es a Kiske!
