    Hi professor, is Darcy velocity the velocity of the solute only in the pores of the porous medium or is it averaged over the entire volume(including the pore and the solid matrix)? Same goes for concentration, if it is concentration per unit volume then is it the entire volume or just the volume in the pores?

      The Darcy velocity is the volume flowing per unit area per unit time: it is averaged over the entire volume. Concentration however is the mass per unit volume of fluid in the pores.

    Thank you, this is very useful, just want to ask - how would I go about solving this equation in a 2-dimensional case e.g. the advection-diffusion of solute through a sand column filled with water?

      This is possible for a homogeneous medium in regular geometries. For heterogeneous media a numerical approach is required.

      @@abulqasimasadi5782 Yes you can use the finite difference method. There are several codes available that do this.
