Horrendous weather with the heaviest hailstorm I have ever witnessed during a football match!

- Gillingham beat Salford in a convincing away win and they continue to march up the league 2 table in tricky weather conditions. Could they reach third and bypass the playoffs at the end of April??

Many years ago when I was a young lad (about 40 years ago) I was at a Chelmsford City game at New Writtle Street and it hailed so much at half time (with wind) that one corner filled up with ice/hail stones and they called it off without coming back out. I still remember leaving the ground once it finally stopped and the streets were covered in piles of hail stones.
I know Chelmsford and Writtle really well from previous employment, one of the better parts of Essex 👍🏻
Used to live in upper bridge road which joined on to new written street in the 70s up until 1982.Fond memories of going to watch the clarets as a young lad.First game I witnessed was in 1973, it was a fa cup against Ipswich Town.I think around 16000 crammed into that ground that day for a 3/1 loss.
Great video mate as always. I had the weekend off but Tuesday I’m at Bognor v whitehawk
Shame about your postponement
@@mattthegroundhopper9242 I know I was gutted bloody English weather
Bit late on the comments I know, but I do like watching your video's Matt. Very entertaining mate. Only 1 "gripe" as such - the recording volume. When you're near the fans and chatting to someone, you may need a separate mic? The half time chitty-chat with whoever he was was inaudible! Anyway, that apart, looking forward to the next one - keep up the good work.
Thanks for your comments 👍🏻 i don’t know what was wrong with the sound on this video, normally it is ok, I will have to keep an eye on it 👍🏻⚽️
Top vid again Matt 👍
Almost as good as the result.
Thanks Barry, nothing beats the result, really chuffed with the outcome 👍🏻⚽️
We spoke with some Gills fans at Cannock services last Saturday who were on their way up to Salford. None of us thought that we’d win our respective matches, but I’m happy that you’d had a good day out. If you are watching this video, well done and I hope the rest of the season goes well for you. Come on you Irons! ⚒️
Nice one 👍🏻 I would love the Gills to draw West Ham away in the cup 👍🏻⚽️
@@mattthegroundhopper9242 I visited Gillingham in the FA cup a few years back and I enjoy visiting different grounds while watching West Ham. I’ve reached over a hundred now (I’ll have to have a recount 😂) as I keep on losing count. I’m off to Freiburg on Thursday so that will be yet another chalked off. Good luck with your own travels around the different stadiums 👍🏻
Nice one The Gills!hah.Enjoyed that video Matt.Up the Glovers..
Gillingham win on the road against one of the most disliked teams in the football league.
Salford seemed to lack any real fans
Enjoy your videos but never want to watch Gills win again 😂 from a Southend fan, get yourself down to Rootshall Saturday to watch us against Daggers, proper game lol.
Cheers mate.
Thanks Merritt, I miss the Gills v Southend games, good local derby, I’ve watched Southend twice for the channel, once home and once away 👍🏻
Good video as always Matt. If in Manchester again FC United of Manchester is worth a visit.
I spoke to some lads on the train towards Manchester who were going to watch FC Utd. The ground is on my list 👍🏻⚽️
My word Matt, 3 of you covering the mighty Gills. Yourself, Matt and then Rhys on german gills. Plus of course i watched the game on i follow over here. Good to see Dan the man again, and pleased you both stayed dry this week. Makes the journey back more fun when you win. Makes me wonder why the consortium of ex united players invested in that ground. Better of playing muddy beach ball lol. Heard somewhere that they are looking for investment also. Beckham, Butt etc are running out cash lol
The three amigos Berlin Dave 👍🏻 yes I did read they were after more investment to push towards the Championship, good luck with that on crowds of 2,000!
@@mattthegroundhopper9242 yes Matt they had high hopes lol
Good grief- my dad was born in Crumpsall 😮
Never heard of the place until I got off at the station 👍🏻
@mattthegroundhopper9242 yeah that's why I was astounded- nobody has heard of it!
Hope you didn't catch the flu. I was following the match on my way home after see Pink in concert at our wonderful Optus Perth stadium in front of 50,000 people. It's a shame that Salford are impacted by the two big Manchester teams for their support 😢. Anyway UTG and keep the faith play off's are possible and maybe even 3rd place ,it's in our own hands as we're got to play the top teams.
Thanks Brian, I have the faith for 3rd, must keep believing 👍🏻 Pink?? 😀
Tidy vid Matt….didn’t understand a word the Gills fan in the blue and white scarf said …just like when you had Neil Harris as manager …he was expletive for us at Cardiff!!
Looking forward to next one ….£4 for coke and choc bar is criminal even if it ain’t the most expensive 😮
Thanks Jeremy, Cardiffs ground is on the horizon 👍🏻⚽️
Is Salford a big rugby league town?
There is a larger Salford rugby ground on the edge of the town, presumably they get a bigger crowd??
It’s definitely a Coronation Street area.
Salford have had a rugby league team since 1873 but they get some of the lowest home attendances in the Super League.
very hard to hear wat u were saying
I’ll have to shout in my next video, or ask the crowd to quieten down when I want to speak, thanks for your comments ⚽️👍🏻
