No offense to the rest of the dice tower team because they are great, but I love Zee,Roy, and Mike. They work well with each other on camera and play off of Tom as well. I always look forward to seeing videos with this group. This video is no exception keep up the excellent work.
This video shows that García is one of the best reviewers, game enthusiast in the hobby (along with Rahdo and Arnaudo). His intuitive comments, his poignant, meta knowledge shows that he had think (and play) a lot about his passion for gaming.

@@MrPeter13th The Dice Tower isn't just one person, it's a collection of people with different knowledge bases. I don't necessarily agree that Zee knows "nothing" about heavy Euros, but you have to admit he is the person you can rely on to bring up interesting abstract games.

I've had ton of fun with Dominant Species man....I replaced all the cones and whatnot with something that looks a bit more like root type tokens. Beautiful design

A 6 for Arkahm Horror: the card game? That's my favorite game, it's so much fun to play, a nice combination of thinking what to do with the luck of the chaos bag. The tension and the moments of relief are just great in that game.

Great to hear Zee appreciates Notre Dame, great game, way better than a 4. Good design and moves fast.
Ra is such a great, streamlined game that has more depth than you realize at first, and Medici is another good one, and I dont even like auction games.
And at the end to say he rates Brass Birmingham a 5?!

One of the best Top 10 lists ever! You need to put the person who is wrong in the "Hot" seat on set where we can see them react but they can't defend themselves. This was awesome. Great work. We had a blast in the chat live as well.

What does Tom rate Brass Birmingham and Food Chain Magnate - both in my top 10, and both he dislike immensely. We needed a voice for heavy games in this top 10!
I’ve come to the conclusion that is is just not a a heavy games channel. They typically prefer pretty games that require less strategy and more action. That’s fine; it’s just not what I’m into. I’d rather play Roads & Boats than Blood Rage.
Jamaica The Crew really is a fantastic expansion.

Brian Myers I’m not. I’ve seen where people enjoy the game up until the final solution where the group feels the game is anticlimactic at the end.
It's good once or twice but starts to get dry and not much fun beyond that IMO.
Sentinels of the Multiverse is awesome. Fiddly but awesome. I have to defend it. Love you Roy, but I have to side with the man in the hat on this one.

Roy and Mike are wrong about Sentinels of the Multiverse. I think it’s more thematic than Marvel Champions and it’s still my favorite Super Hero game. But, I do agree with Mike on the DC deckbuilding game and Mysterium!

Disagree with Innovation, but I get it. Definitely not for everyone but I really like it.
My pick for the one not mentioned Tom likes way too much is Century Spice Road. I’m probably in the minority on that one but I bought it on his raving and found it super boring.

I love Jamaica: The Crew! It has turned Jamaica into my go-to intro game to non-gamers. It's always a good time.
Great expansion, I agree. Jamaica was one of my go-to's for introductions too, even before the expansion, but the expansion makes it that much better. So much easier than "What does this card mean again.. can I see the giant map rule book?" vibe that gets killed from the base game.
Quite often Roy makes statements that are completely incorrect. Sentinels of the Multiverse is fantastic. I play it 2 player, usually. so his, have to play it at 4 players is insane. I just have come to realize that when he likes a game I usually do not. By the way, I love Marvel Champions, which is definitely MATH, the super hero game
My first thought with that comment was that he had only played the first edition, before they introduced the "H" damage scaling. I never played the original, but if villains deal a flat amount of damage instead of it being based on the number of heroes, I can see it working best with a specific number of heroes.
Roy is completely right in this. And Mike mentionned how unbalanced it is. My friend who has it has to have a list of Heroes, Environments and Bosses that work together so the game is not completely ridiculous.
Roy, I'm sorry you don't enjoy Dominant Species. But in this case, Tom is RIGHT and you are wrong. Dominant Species is probably my favorite board game, but I do acknowledge that keeping track of dominance on each location is a big annoyance. Also the game doesn't look horrible, I like how the game looks. It could use a component upgrade to keep up with modern games, but it doesn't need it.

Well, 2 things: Dominant Species is A-MA-ZING. And yes to Blue Moon it is the opposite to war, you have to think so much in each card

Whether someone likes or hates Sentinels seems to mostly come down to whether the overhead bothers them. It's basically the *only* complaint I ever hear about the game. Everything else is awesome - unique hero decks that play like that hero and very differently to each other, gameplay that starts you with the villain on top so you have to fight back to win, the environment deck throwing a wrench in the plans of both the heros *and* villains, great combos, flavourful card names like "Thokk!" and "Hypersonic assault", cool comic quotes on the cards, etc. Personally I got used to managing the overhead fairly quickly and don't even notice it most of the time so I'm just left enjoying all the great things about the game.
Sentinels is completely unbalanced.
@@MythicosQc74 Sentinels is somewhat unbalanced. Some heroes are a bit more powerful than others, and some are a bit less powerful than others. Which isn't much of a problem in a co-op game - and is arguably even a feature. (Feel like an easier game? Choose Legacy or Omnitron-X as one of your heroes. Want more of a challenge? Bring Expatriette or Unity). Even that can vary depending on what villain and environment you're playing though (Tempest is generally great but struggles against Dreamer, for example).
Sentinels has a loooooot of heroes to choose from, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and play style. If you're finding it unfun, my guess is that you just haven't found the heroes that best suit your style yet.

There should be a new thing called Board Game Debates where one person absolutely loves a particular board game and another person hates the same board game, and the two debate over the board game. It could be a new running series changing the board games each week and the debaters.

I've cooled A LOT on Sentinels also. Playing it on the tabletop there is SOOO much down time. It works so much better on the computer.
Remember the time Tom refused to even rate Five Tribes? Or the time he thought Caylus wasn't a worker placement game? I love Tom, but honestly, this video could have been a Top 100.
Oh wow! Gotta agree with Mike about Medici - until I played The Estates, Medici was my favorite auction game - a 10 for me. Auction is one of my favorite mechanics.

Good video. Watching this and Mike's other videos, I think his taste is closest to mine at the Dice Tower now (Ryan Metzler's was even closer). Sentinels is my biggest white elephant.
Flamme Rouge! It's in the top 200 on BGG, it's one of my very few '10's, and Tom game it a very lacklustre 5.5.
Masmorra just got delivered to my doorstep today! Sometimes you just have to go with what looks good to you.
We love DC! The expansions add an insane amount of card play and better Heros/Villains to play as. Also, if its theme you want, you can play any of the Crisis expansions where its jusf straight coop and you actually fight the villains in the lineup along with defeating scemes and supervillains.
Zee says 'you don't have to study to play the game'...me right now going thru the 34 page 4th edition(revised) rules + 6 pages of charts for Panzer Grenadier.... Maybe I'll get through this all by the time my eldest daughter's next birthday in the middle of September...

I never had much trouble with passenger routing in On the Underground.. I rate it 7, short of Vasel's 9.
The thing is, so many of your points in that game come from manipulating the passenger to ride on your rails on your turn. So his table is only taking 15 seconds to play their track, and /then/ they're trying to figure out where the passenger goes, they're missing a significant portion of the game.
Roy, freaking bling out a copy of Dominant Species and play that, you have a 3D printer... it’s so amazing

And Mike!!! No thought needed to have your turn in On The Underground? Blasphemy! Another awesome game! Half of the Euros out the are way more fiddly then the passenger which is easy to deal with.
And Eclipse is a 4.........and City of Kings is .....ugh.......there’s more than one issue with that one. Theme being a huge factor. I think Mike likes those specific games becaus they feel more like Euro puzzles rather than adventure games.

Totally agree on Lewis&Clark (one of the best, unique euro games I have played) and Jamaica:TheCrew (one of the best expansions I've gotten for a game)

Dominant Species is great Roy. Second Edition looks a little better.
Yes a Volcano can happen, but players control that, and you can vontrol the Volcano if you really wanted. You can also spread out to minimize being targeted and minimized it's effects.
Can't wait for the new one to come out from the late designer.

I totally agree with Mike on the City of Kings....Love this game and cannot believe Tom did not like it. I think he is missing something. Lots of strategy, great components (I got the miniatures), and fun mechanics. Not sure what else you could want.

Holy cow Roy. You yelled half of the video. I understand that you can be passionate, but when I have to turn the TV down when it comes your time to talk then there's a problem.

I played Dominant Species recently thanks to TTS. I wouldn't give it an 8, but didn't dislike it. It IS about a turn or 2 too long, the components are bland, and it wasn't amazing, but I enjoyed the experience at least, so I wouldn't call it bad.
I've not played Lewis and Clark but it was brought to a meetup once and they took forever to actually finish it. I can't judge it from that vantage point but it doesn't inspire me to seek it out. I'd try it out before really judging it though.
Tiny Epic games are a mix. Kingdoms is ok, but nothing to be excited over. Galaxies is great, and I really like that one. Zombies is good too, I haven't played the rest to judge them.
I have an older version of Wiz War, it's pretty fun, I'd probably put it between 6 and 9, we haven't played in years.
I have some Arkham Horror the card game stuff. It's decent but the thematic link feels weaker to me than it first appears and it brings it down for me, although I still like it more than Tom.

I totally agree with Mike about Tom's lack of love for Knizia. RA & Medici are awesome. I've not played Blue Moon, but both Mike and Zee seem to love it. Tom also only rated Tigris & Euphrates as Approved when he reviewed it, when it is obviously an Excellent game.
One thing where Tom is definitely right is Innovation. Roy and Zee's lack of appreciation for Chudyk's brilliant combinations card game is criminal.
A really fun video overall. I hope Tom gives his response.
okay roy ill give you that dominant species could be improved immensely in terms of component quality and artwork and maybe just maybe it can be too long for some people for what it is. BUT to say that it is not fun is absolute blasphemy. The mechanisms are extremely well done, just top notch, and if you got blown by a meteor that is your fault to an extent. You can see the cards that are available for the next turns, and should have figured a way to play around it, or minimize the damage by spreading out.
Tom is definitely wrong about the the low rating on Brass Birmingham and Food Chain Magnate - two of my all-time favorites!
It's a shame that Sentinels of the Multiverse has so much hate when it really is the most thematic of superhero games. None of other ones has the diversity that Sentinels has, but that does get in the way.

Loved this. Tom is a fantastic guy and so much fun to watch but lately his ratings have been so far off my tastes and haven’t helped me at all in my purchases so it’s fun to see these guys agree that he’s often just wrong.
We LOVE Menara. Still hits the table regularly on Our game nights. Tom is so! WRONG about it.
Dominant Species is an amazing game. I agree the components could and should be nicer, but the game mechanic and the theme is really interesting and great to play.
Not all area control games have to be dudes on a map with plastic toys. So yeah, Roy is wrong about Dominant Species. As a matter of fact, I think War of the Ring would be a better game (although not near as good as DS), if they would not have made it so confusing with all the plastic junk covering up the (huge, but still much to small for all the stuff) map. This inconvenience sucks up all the fun, I could have with this game.
