It's funny how ppl think Argentina is built around Messi. Messi can't do shit in world cup coz he'll be tied completely down. He'll be lucky if he even finishes 1 match without an injury. I don't think, the defence is really as bad as it is made out to be. Yes, they don't have any "World Class" defenders but they are statistically better than Germany for example. I don't think the quality of the individual players says whats a strong defence or not, the chemistry is far more important and Argentina have shown this. Also, Argentina attackers are some of the world's finest, and their names are the reason why people seem to question the names of the defenders. They have no lost a match to any European team since Sabella took over and he is doing just great. Messi has a far better attacking support than at Barcelona and this will allow him to have more space, especially with a poacher like Higuian, and players with tremendous flair like Agüero and Di Maria. People are claiming that Germany will be their nightmare if they square up, but if Germany end up first in their group they can only meet Argentina in the WC Final. Germany will be handicapped by the climate and their weakest link is the Left Back position and Di Maria plays the Right Mid/Wing and he is coming off as a European Champion and having his best season for Real Madrid, other than that Di Maria has always played better for Argentina than at Real. I think this tournament is bright for them and if they don't crack under pressure Argentina can really win games by exceptional margins. COME ON LEO! SHOW THE WORLD WHY YOU ARE THE NEXT KING OF FOOTBALL!!!

The greatest problem with Tevez, from my point of view, is that the press has forced the image of "el jugador del pueblo" (the people's player). That means that he runs, and tackles with courage... but Tevez should not in the field for running! He should be in the pitch to do what he does in Europe: scoring goals and dribbling! We have other players for running and deffending! Another issue is that he has a strong personality and that means he causes trouble within the national team at a social level.

To be fair, Iran had a superb goal keeper, he did his job very well. Although your offensive tactics were lacking. Argentina is a full-on offensive team, with minimal defense, just look at all of the games they've played in so far. They always manage to keep the ball on the opposite side, but have had difficulty scoring goals because of heavy defense the opposition always has. Each team they've taken on have done their homework, they know that just one slip up in the defense and Messi, Aguero, or Di Maria could score a goal. With Aguero injured, Di Maria and Messi are the only ones who really have good chances of scoring now, so every team has marked those players now. You'll have 3-4 players coming down on Messi to get the ball because he's too dangerous to let close to the goal. In the end, Argentina ends up playing against a brick wall every match (except Nigeria, they did pretty well in the offensive department) and only have to worry about getting scored on once or twice a match. To be "100% better" than Argentina, you would've had to have had superior offense. Having a good defense alone does not win you the match (unless you are going for a draw.) Although, I'm not saying Iran is a bad team, they just play it far too safe. In the end, Argentina won fair and square. But you should be proud of your goal keeper, he deserves the Golden Glove as much as T. Howard and Ocha do.

They will probably go far, but the old adage holds true. You can't win a championship without a strong defense. A shaky defense could get eaten up by Spain or Brazil or Germany. I think Brazil will win because not only because their offense is good, but because their back four is world class, and their defensive midfielders are really good too.
A month ago, I probably would've agreed with you, but now that I've seen them play, I don't think Brazil will make it past the Semi Final with Colombia. They have a shaky defense and their offense uses the same tactics over and over again and can't score a whole lot of goals. They're gonna need to step it up more if they want to advance any further.
