Great video dude. For anyone wondering about photo quality with the GH5 - I shoot a plethora of client work with the GH5 (Photos + Video) - don’t let sensor size deter you. The GH5 is just as competent at stills as it is video. It really is THE BEAST.
Hi have both and keep both, because they are a perfect match. Z6 for stills and b-roll and GH5 for main video and I actually like to use it for time-lapse.
At 6:24 the video looks absolutely amazing, you may not be setting your profiles correctly on a lot of your other youtube videos? I don't feel like they are sharp like it is on that.
Every instance of comparison, the Nikon Z6 has vastly more depth of field. That makes it more cinematic. It's a tool that you can choose to take advantage of or not. That makes it more flexible as a video tool. They're both great cameras.
The depth of field issue has upsides and downsides. On the GH5, f2.8 gives the equivalent of f5.6 on the Z6, but it also allows lower ISO settings. F2.8 on the GH5 is easier to get in focus with the GH5 because of the longer depth of field.
@@raksh9 The Z6 isn't stuck on shallow dof. Just stop it down. The only thing the Panasonic has over the Z6 is the flip screen. Which appears to be critical for vloggers and is the dealmaker. He's judging IQ "straight out of both." My buddy is buying the GH5 tomorrow thanks to this video.
I was gonna go for a Nikon Z6 II but the stabilization issue make we want to go with the Lumix G5s ... even though i am a Nikon guy normally but i have so many D lenses so none of them work with auto focus.. so i would need a gimbal and then also buy new G lenses to have auto focus.. thats just a lot of extra money and at that point i might just get the Lumix and one zoom kit lens
How is the Auto WB on the Z6 vs the GH5? I've heard the Z6 can be a bit off and needs to be manually set. The Z6 looks way more shakey. GH5's IBIS is just that good. Better mics and you can speed boost it too.
4K 4:2:2 10bit internally will cost you $500 for just the sdhc cards. Which kinda leads you to thinking about Atomos Ninja V. At that point may as well buy a Z6 and don’t mess around with poor AF on Gh5. Now if you got a several V90 SDHC cards hanging around then Gh5 can be option to save some bucks, even with its limitations.
Great video. These are two cameras I’m considering for my next upgrade. The GH5 seems like the sensible option as I already have a couple of lenses from a G7, but I hate the autofocus on that camera and I’m worried that the GH5’s won’t be much better. I recently downgraded to a Canon 200D and am really happy with the fact that I can just set it up and not have to worry about the focusing. For that reason, despite the higher price for me as I’ll need to get a 50mm prime as a starter, the Z6 might well be the one I go for. To be honest, the A7iii is looking like a very attractive option as well. Whichever choice I make it’s going to be a lot of money for me so it’s one I’m going to have to deliberate long and hard over. Thanks for putting up the video and making my choice a little easier.
hey man!nice video!! have you updated your GH5 ??now the 2.4 firmware autofocus with native lenses are so much better!! it would be nice if you have a chance to make a video comparing the updated firmware autofocus!! keep up with the nice videos man!!
Sohail Zahid i believe something was off in his footage .. i noticed that too. Flat and no sharpness.. i think he turned down sharpness all the way down and/or shot in wrong res. I have the Z6 and the footage out of it is just amazing so there u go
Hey EDD, did your content man. You’re right to bring the GH5 back out of the shoebox. It’s a great camera (STILL). For someone who claims to not be a pro photog/videographer you sure do put on a great show. Mind sharing what format your shooting the GH5!in in this video? It appears to be a standard (non-LOG) format but looks really good for the GH5 which is usually heavy on the magenta in weird ways.
I was surprised how different the 4K video looked outside your house between the two cameras. Both looked unnatural me with the GH5 appearing overly saturated colors and the Z6 the opposite...or is just my eyes ? I was viewing the video on my 55 inch HD tv
That’s a tough one. If it’s your first camera I’d go with the g7 to find out if I even like making videos like this. If you already have a camera and are looking to upgrade you’ll have to pick between good autofocus and a flip screen.
You make me want the GH5 more and more. It's almost perfect except for that auto focus. I really like the customizable buttons etc. Thanks, Gary! And hey, if you can have a 14 minute video, I can have a 14 minute video coming up :)
every photo enthusiast or pro uses a tripod for shooting specific content require ring this, like shooting at higher angles than the photographer shooting the object or scene. I assume you meant those silly things you said as jokes. I won't get a camera yet, have other things I have to spend money on, but I would not mind having any of these beasts. Always shoot in manual, not seen auto mode that works yet. 5:24 Nikon looked horrible here.
I don't understand how you put all of this effort into these very thorough comparison reviews, but you refuse to spend a few minutes doing a simple AF test. It's part of the camera, and everyone will use it, unless they find it unusable. Simply showing how you use the camera isn't going to help anyone decide if the AF is a problem or not. All you have to do is turn it on when you're vlogging for a minute, and then for another minute when you are sitting down like the audio test portion.
Weezy G. No way man, not even close. The images you get out of the Panasonic and the grade ability make its images more cinematic. Plus, you get any real motion in your shot, and you’ll need those world class codecs to deal with that information. Don’t get caught up into FF being best for video. It’s only become that way because YTbers need to make content. Lolz
@@deverenfogle3201 the GH5 isnt even a full frame tho. The Z6 has more potential because of the existence of the Atmos Ninja. Honestly they are both great tho, as im sure everyone already knows
The GH5 autofocus sucks though. Hunting all of the time and it hasn't gotten better over time. If you shoot in manual focus, it's good, but autofocus goes to the X-T3.
If you want to SEE yourself while blogging ...Just use the WiFi of the Nikon Z6 and pair it with iPad ....That s the best solution . Z6 is miles ahead . Full frame look is the in thing ...It is THE THING ..
Nikon z6 doesn't have exposure meter in movie mode, it's worthless fo video unless you use a separate monitor, event videographers and serious small budget filmmakers won't touch this, there are better options out there. We will see if firmware updates changes anything but i doubt it, sony won't allow them.
the Gh5 just looks over saturated i thought you were a guy who likes to "Fiddle"? " thought you were the fiddliness KING plus all of those external buttons suck.wouldn't you rather have the awesome touch screen of the Z6? The Nikon has a plethora of menu options to make the video look just like the GH5 I'll bet if you adjust the menu you could get the same if not better saturation out of the Nikon Z6 love you........he he regards, rick

You can find a GH5 with a lens used for around $1500
Great video! I just got a GH5 about 3 months ago. The more I use it, the more I love it!

damn it man stop making so many GH5 videos... you're making me want to buy one lol
The Reel Fanboy I did! And it’s partially his fault
I'm gonna purchase this camera in 2024:)

for the Panasonic one could I get the same performance without the lens?
Wouldn't the video be automatically better on the GH5 since you can do 10 bit 4:2:2?

The video coming out of the Z6 is so sexy! The colors/contrast is so nice!
Z6 footage seems to be really bad in comparison. I am surprised at the gap. Assuming some mistake in recording.

Okay fine I’ll get one 😂

GH5 is much better and dont use the very expensive card lol no limit for video etc. etc..yes i am a pro PANASONIC :D

Z6 better in doors
