I am Japanese, but I listened to this album laughing along with the lyrics. It is even funnier that Melon is reviewing this album with a straight face, but the humor of the lyrics is even more exceptional than the perfection of the songs. I think it is meaningful to study Japanese to understand the lyrics of this album.
I first found them through your ITEKOMA HITS review back in 2019 and the way you passionately talked about how good the album was influenced me to give the band a listen. Here we are in 2022 with another banger album and review to match. Worst youtuber on the platform hands down
I got fired from my job because i almost fought my 50 year old coworker.. and It got toxic yo so now, i spend most of my time smoking weed on my TH-cam channel now, meanwhile i get back to the hustle👀👀💯💯
my man be bringing up that he talks to jello biafra from dead kennedys like it's no big deal, lmao, honestly awesome to hear that they're still invested in the music industry and new artists following in their footsteps.
I definitely prefer Itekoma Hits (I feel like it's more varied and surprising overall, with songs that feel a bit more fleshed out), but I've been bumping this, it rules. I think Otoboke Beaver are like the only current punk band that I fuck with (almost) as hard as Bleach or Midori.
You should try 385, it's the solo project of MIYA, bassist/singer in Bleach. Also she's playing with the Zazen Boys atm ( not necessarily punk but crazy good too )
@@Aurichu I wasn't counting 385 as punk in my head, but you're right they're insanely good, I actually prefer them to Bleach. I've been listening to their entire discog (short as it may be) on repeat nonstop the past couple years. Can't decide between the first album or Ningen, they're both so good. Has Zazen Boys released anything that they've recorded with Miya yet? I've heard a bit of their stuff and am super interested to see how she'll gel with their sound.
I really enjoyed this album. I haven't listened to a lot of this style of Japanese punk so I didn't completely gel with the style being presented, especially the vocal cadence, on first listen but I could see this potentially becoming a favorite of the year on subsequent listens but I'm just not there yet. Will definitely give the album more listens.
This needle dropped before I had seen the Beavers three times in NYC. 10/7/22 (Music Hall of Williamsburg). 2/22-23/23 (Le Poisson Rouge) in support of "Super Champon". I was front and center every time and they killed me. Structured anarchy; math punk. The energy never stops. NO BALLADS. Kudos to Kahokiss for drumming those great drums first song to last. OB is unique in the world. My favorite since 2018.
I've got tickets to see them next May in Glasgow. They were supposed to be coming over this month but they unfortunately had to cancel their European tour due to Covid concerns. You should check out the other bands on the Damnably Label, they are all awesome.
While I personally very much enjoy this album & disagree with your review, I understand & respect that you have a different opinion & that it is articulated well. Unsubscribed, blocked, & reported
Was checking Pitchfork out of curiosity and saw they had reviewed this. Didn’t even check what they gave it just listened based on that colorful, wonderful fucking album cover and was not disappointed.
They made a new album??? Hell yes bruh i loved the previous one since i saw your review, can't wait to listen to it!!! edit: it kicked ass of course, i prefer the first for now but ya know, still great sht
Yeah, a really nice LP - seems a bit Basic Crazy Fast Random Japanese Punk at first but subsequent listens show that there are layers to this stuff - definitely most memorable playing of this kind I've heard in a long time :)
The band 'By the end of summer' sent me a deep dive of japans punk seen a few months back, been away from the genre just long enough for another healthy portion. Can't wait to here your opinion on new Thom Yorke project, IMO its an absolute fire showcase of of Tom Skinner and Johnny Greenwood; vocals are ok.
You know that feeling when you’re waiting for fantano to review an album that you really like then you realize he’s probably not taking weeks to gather his thoughts but is instead indifferent to the album… am I the only one who thinks Action Bronson’s album is one of the best this year
It's nice that there still is some good ass punk music out there. I was unawere of this band before this review, but having checked it - Can recomend it to any hardcore/punk fan.
Absolutely love this band. Super Champon is the best new album I’ve heard in years. There’s a definite Toy Dolls influence which can only be a good thing.
I was honestly starting to think this would go on YUNOREVIEW, glad it didn't and fantano enjoyed it basically as much as he did ITEKOMA HITS. Gotta thank that review for getting me into this band

Just bought my tickets to their Brooklyn show
They tore up LA tonight
@@mathees479 bruh, lead guitarist broke two strings that night

this is my favorite fantano meta comment ive seen
High quality impassioned and well rounded reviews of lesser known artists are why I have unsubscribed from fantano a long time ago
Better plot twist than the avengers
I got fired from my job because i almost fought my 50 year old coworker.. and It got toxic yo so now, i spend most of my time smoking weed on my TH-cam channel now, meanwhile i get back to the hustle👀👀💯💯
the ending got me not gonna lie
Dear Melon, thank you for introducing me to this band
Fantano casually saying he's able to just talk to jello Biafra and send him music like it's nothing
Hell yeah. I was hoping you'd review this one. Otoboke Beaver deserves all the recognition.
"Not showing enough of them furry beaver backsides" is not reason enough to deduct two points, Anthony.
*Yes it is*
youtube asked me if this comment was inspiring and i said yes
Anthony fantmelonano showing his need to get eaten out by a beaver ONCE again
my man be bringing up that he talks to jello biafra from dead kennedys like it's no big deal, lmao, honestly awesome to hear that they're still invested in the music industry and new artists following in their footsteps.
I had the same thought just casually saying ‘yeah I sent it to Jello and he agreed’. Must be nice
Y'all just jello
More like thenamedrop, amirite
Highlight for me was the absolutely blistering hi-hat work on "I checked your cellphone". I've never heard a d-beat that that hit that hard before.
They might genuinely be my favorite current band. They have such a great blend of strong musicianship and mathy compositions with chaotic aggression.
I seriously love this band's energy hell yes

I’m so happy to have found this video months ago, It introduced me to this band and I love this album so much! Cant wait to see them live
Thank you Fantano. You got me into these guys and I listened to this record when it dropped.
I love this album. You can't change my mind
They are making their mark on the Hardcore scene and I hope they continue to maintain that intensity
Went and gave it a listen, absolute slapper. "I won't dish out salads" was an easy favorite for me.
As fun and creative like the first one. TY for the review, Anthony.
Watched just to see how to pronounce the band name.
TEN OUTTA TEN! REVIEW IT AGAIN!!!
Nah but seriously otoboke beaver don’t miss, quality stuff
Otoboke Beaver has to be my favorite punk band hands down. I love them so much.
I am very excited to see them live in october. Thanks for turning me onto them a while back
Just bought tickets to their Brooklyn show i. October. Can’t wait
MR MORRRAAALLLEEEEEEEE!!
Just casually dropping the fact that he's friends with Jello Biafra
Imagine if 2009 Anthony knew that 2022 Anthony would be directly sharing music with Jello Biafra
Kendrick.
I was going insane thinking about the California Uber Alles homage, thank you Melon for validating me
I heard that too on SALADS!!!!!!! It brought an ENORMOUS smile on my face.
Could guess with the cover he’d like it, ignoring the flannel
Kendrick albums been out for a few hours and no Melon review yet????????
I love the energy and intensity on this, but the translated lyrics aren’t entirely available from what I could find.

Yes we know, Kendrick album these comments thinking he don’t see them
It's crazy how you could choose: what I'm going to listen now? A Thee Oh Sees jam one song, or a whole album from Otokobe Beaver?
Would love to hear your thoughts on the new Ella Mai! A few filler tracks but also some songs with really catchy hooks as well. Thanks!
New kendrick is a 10

Well I think you got 3 big ones to take down:
Dance Fever by Florence and the Machine
Dropout Boogie by The Black Keys
Kendrick Lamar’s new one
