I have two Saint Bernards, and this video doesn’t begin to describe how wonderful they are. The main downsides are the shedding and the slobber. So much fur. So much slobber. But they are the sweetest angels. Gentle but strong. Friendly, but protective if need be. Also, they love to cuddle!
I don’t have one myself, but whenever I visit my friends house and see his St Bernard, you almost always need to change your shirt when you get home from all of the hair and slobber🤣🤣

@@katherinehalling6630 It used to be thought that strong alcohol consumption would warm someone up. In reality it actually warms up your core but cools down your extremities. They don't actually use those barrels anymore, if think that was just to make the dog look cute.
@@katherinehalling6630 It’s because of their buoyancy. St Bernard’s are so big they can fall through ice easily so they used the barrels as floatation devices primarily.

yes, they’re perfect but sometimes not, one tan to my mother and almost bit her leg off, she still has the scar. Her leg was literally dangling off

But my mother was carrying a basket to bring to her mom, the big dog came ripping off the garage off his leash and starting coming for her, bit her leg almost off, she luckily drove herself to the hospital, where SHE works, and she passed out coming into sue to loss of blood. I still remember it to this day, it was like 12 years ago.
Grew up with 2 of them, they were the best dogs ever to take you for walks!

Yep. That's pretty freakin' accurate. One of my friends had a Saint Bernard and he would run and then flop onto the ground suddently after a few minutes of playing. It was hilarious.
My supervisor owned a St. Bernard. His name was Max and last weighed 175 pounds. He passed this summer at 18 years of age. This dog was a beast to behold. But just a kind and loving soul. RIP Max
How in the world did they get an unbelievable 18 years out of such a large dog? He must have been fed great food and been well taken care of!

Had one almost 30 years ago. He grew up with a doberman. One day, dogs from another farm came into our property and attacked the Doberman. At first he barked at them, when that didn't help, he proceeded to attack. I saw him break a German shepherd's spine from a single bite, then he grabbed another Doberman by the neck and he went down, third dog bled to death from a bite in the inner thigh. 3 dead dogs later and the neighbor finally agreed to fix his fence like we did with ours. Nobody messed with Rufo ever.
that's really sad for those dogs, but extremely irresponsible of the neighbour to let three big aggressive dogs escape from their property. they could have killed a child or a smaller dog.

When I was a kid, I watched a fight between a St. Bernard and a Doberman. When the Doberman's head disappeared into the St. Bernard's mouth, I gained a whole different kind of respect for the St. Bernard...lol.

Remember seeing this breed in "Tom and Jerry" back when I was a kid. Fell in love ever since.

I have two. One of them can sense crying and sniffs at tears. He can’t handle someone crying. They are definitely saving me every day!! ❤
My FAVORITE DOG BREED! When I was a kid my first and only friend, was a Saint Bernard. One day I was pushed off my bike by the neighborhood bully after I just got my training wheels off. I still have the scar on my elbow. I got my training wheels put back on because that was my dads answer to being bullied, and I saw the kids hanging out. I said veebee GO! That dog took off after the kids and chased them up a tree and cops got called. Then I had to be in a video for the court showing the dog was very loving, loyal and an amazing dog. They ended up moving because it was my neighbors dog, I was extremely sad. I was 6 years old and to this day, I will always remember the love and protection that dog gave me.

He / she used to run up to the front gate to greet me.
I always had a great time petting them. I just couldn't believe how much they drooled I was very thankful that there was a water bib right outside the gate so I could wash my hands off.

Our beloved giant baby girl crazy Daisy was half St. Bernard. She was so relaxed, she loved everything and everybody and always in a good mood.
She was like a child waking up and she was ready for every fun and adventure...

I once had a Saint Bernard, but he was so different, lots of energy, such a crazy dog and almost always running side to side of the garden.
We had a Dogo of Burdeos at the same time, who was so calm, he just stayed the day enjoying the grass while taking a sunbath, so it was funny to see a big dog with tons of energy and another big dog laying like there was nothing else to do in this life.

My grandfather was a veterinarian who had many, many dogs. Among them there was one Saint Bernard. We called him Tank. He surely was lazy old dog(I think he was over 15 yo). But when it comes to protecting us from other dogs, man he really was a TANK. I miss him.

I had 2 Saint Bernard’s as a young toddler, I dragged my Saints by the ear, and the same hand holding the ear I had my thumb in my mouth. Mine was my best friend, I learned how to ride my pony by riding Tootsie. He would just sit down when he got tired of carrying me. They both slept in my bed with me every night. I loved my Saints.

Many years ago my friend was a teacher in a country school. One of the farmers gave her a St. Bernard dog for her classroom. This dog would just hang out in her classroom during the day and was as big as her desk. She had very low absenteeism.

What the video fails to mention is breeding them with a Collie will actually help the drool factor without severely alternating their look.
I had one growing up, they are a amazing breed. When you talking about lazy. Ours refused to go on walks we would lay down in the middle of the street if you let him. Some are more active though.

As a delivery driver, I've never saw a saint Benard that was friendly, they all act vicious.
Yes they are gentle giants. I wanted one my whole life. I finally got one. He's the biggest baby ever. But he unexpectedly died. I was out of town at the time. He was good boy.
First time I ever tried to pet a big ol' St. Bernard, it damn near bit my fingers off.
