Especially when they are trying to sell it as finished product price! They didn't even do regional pricing rather it is 40 dollars in entire world like it is a massive MMO or something. Pax dei devs are way too focused on profit man, don't get surprised if they add micro-transactions like selling plots etc. They have the signs all over..
@@wastedwattsyou're missing the point dude no one f****** cares anymore everybody's tired of investing these shity games that never get finished and tired of dealing with these companies why waste your time if it's not going to be finished. You make no sense dude at all is not worth people's time anymore and hasn't been for years. Good luck with your 10-year plus MMO that you're probably trying to rip people off on.
Early access has taken on a new meaning and become an excuse for game devs to release completely broken and terrible games for absurd prices only to never follow through on grand promises.
its supposed to go: tech demo (preparing everything for alpha) alpha (begin making gameplay loop) beta (final balancing and polish of gameplay) release (early access or full release) pax dei is still techically a tech demo, since they literally do not even know HOW their plot system will function... they literally don't have a game. you can't even call it a game technically.
@@the.real.dwight.schrute Let's wait and see how selling plots for real money will turn out. I don't think it is a good idea. But well, PD needs at least 18 months more development time to achieve something that you could call a release.
i was really excited for this game when it was being described - it sounded like "good mortal online" or "albion online but not isometric" its kinda sad how it is turning out (also im excited for tarisland, make content pls :) )
I think an good mortal online or good pax dei mixes what I loved about final fantasy 11 to give me the full sandbox experience. Even 23 years after release I will do more actual in game talking in ffxi than any other mmo I have played.
but cant build more than 6 stories high, can't build anything more than a tiny house unless you pay2win, and can't terraform anything. plus all the bases look identical because the building has no options.
I did play/test in two of the alphas; I do not think it is ready yet, even for early paid access. I have not made any purchases yet. I'll be testing in Ashes of Creation, Alpha 2 which is still planned for Q3 of this year (I tested in Alpha 1 and it had more content than the current Pax Dei). I hope the Pax Dei devs can add the improved systems and content...
Teaser Trailer projected an idea in which you play like MMO from which you venture into the wild from safe zone, and then cross into even more dangerous zone. Scaling danger level the further you are from a central fortress, and PvP is enabled when you crossed into danger zone. An atmosphere projected in the teaser was Gloomy, Dark, Mysterious, Mythological Epic Creatures with magical abilities. i was dissapointed to level 0 expectations when i saw first ever alpha gameplay.
I seriously don't get that megalomaniac mindset of "bigger is better". Like - no, it isn't. Not every friggin' house needs to be a friggin' castle, and you don't need a friggin' castle to put all the workstations you need. Not even to put all the workstations you want, just build a house with multiple floors or something.
I mean, it’s literally real estate. It’s not like ESO where your “house” is just a copy that anyone can have. There is a finite number of lots available on each server. And if you pool resources with other players you can actually end up with a pretty massive space.
@@veladarneyI agree, and if people work together and assign jobs, each plot really only needs the workstation that the player will use the most. Different shops for different needs.
I’ve given up on all these hyped new releases incoming and early access games and went back to ESO and after five years away the game is so much fun and scratching that MMO itch.
I don't really care about Pax Dei, that's a not a game for me, but people should really stop buying/reviewing early access game if expecting it to be good. Baldur's gate 3 wasn't good when it launched in early access, but it ended up being one of the greatest game of all time. Early access should be considered as a way to support the studio that make the game first and foremost.
Honest question what is it that you do want them to do that they failed at? I got my own opinions but like to learn what people want if I ever make my own game.
I think people's expectations for Early Release games are way out of whack with reality. You are rolling the dice when you purchase such a game. All these reviews sandbagging it are ridiculous.
Buying early access is fine for me as I know there is a risk a risk i am willing to take. I have no regrets if it flops, but if it succeeds, I will be grateful. I will enjoy what I have now and await further features.
This is exactly the problem with the industry today. We as gaming consumers have "trained" the gaming industry. They have realized all they need to do is develop hype around their game, stick the "early access" label on it and release it - we're silly little lemmings looking for the next big thing and we'll give them money for . . . nothing. We as a global gaming community need to stop paying for "early access" and "alpha". When the game is ready, release it. Full stop. This removes all the apologies and excuses from the equation. We can fairly judge the game: Is it good? No more "It's just early access" and "This isn't the final version" crap. I want Pax Dei to be a good game - I really do. But right now it's just a promising concept.
The issue with games like these, is that the developers try to put entertainment and content generation on the burden of the player, instead of making it themselves. Whether out of laziness, or to save a buck, or to milk a franchise. Which is an *EXTREMELY NICHE* demographic. And often times not enough to support a development company trying to make a huge game like an MMORPG. (Which Pax Dei is not. I don't care what anyone says.) Mortal Online is a great example. Disgustingly enormous map, completely empty, no NPCs, no Quests, no Dungeons, no content. Only a round 200 people playing. The developers thought tens of thousands of people would flock to the game and fill it out with towns and traders. But all it did was just die and stagnate very slowly, hemorrhaging millions of dollars. Pax Dei will be more of the same.
I think it was a mistake to release this game even in early access... I don't have any issues with sandbox gameplay. Combat needs to be fixed as well as resource gathering and management of resources.
I’m playing this now and enjoying it. Nevertheless, this is a fair review. The building is very rewarding and the world is beautiful but beyond that, there is not a lot to encourage you to engage with the grind. The large group format they have chosen presents considerable problems in my view. The grind requires specialisation and each specialisation is dependent on others, so, you are encouraged towards allocating one or two activities to each group member - which for me means too much repetition. If your blacksmith gets bored after a few weeks and quits, then everyone is stuck because each specialisation needs the others. Most critically for me, large groups can tend to reserve the fun stuff (designing and building) to a few people with everyone else consigned to fetch and carry. There is also the risk of having to live with someone else’s immersion breaking building designs if you are unlucky enough to have a group leader that likes to build crazy stuff. For it to work, you would need a big, highly co-operative and like-minded group, who are going to stick with the game long term. I’m wondering how this can be achieved in the current game state - particularly with the threat of wipes. Anyway, I’m currently playing solo and treating this as an opportunity to try everything out. Hopefully, I’ll find a group that suits me that I can join after the first wipe. We’ll see :)
The game has great potential, but a warning even appears on the loading screen that bugs, crashes and other problems may occur during EA. EA is not for everyone. It is for those who want to test and contribute with a lot of feedback that will help the polishing. Anyone who wants to play without having to deal with these issues is better off wait until full release.
I REALLY hope they make plots grindable up to a limit in the game. I don't really think it will be solo/small-group friendly in the end with both the sub and the pay-for-convienence stuff. It won't survive imo if whales of players overwhelm smaller more casual players and groups, and hardcore or toxic clans lock players out of things and areas they need. I'm not sure how PvP is handled in this game, but if it exists at all, the bigger groups will most likely find a way to kill the playerbase like most other PvP builder-survival games if not balanced appropiately I think it should be somthing like: 1 player can gring for up to 10 plots. Clan groups can only combine up to like 100 plots for cities in a general area - that way, large clans over 10 players couldn't have 110, 120, ect plots in once zone. This is a simple, raw example from a guy who hasn't personally played it, but I have seen a lot of play and worry that it won't retain players with different sub levels while ALSO being a grindfest. It will just feel like a p2w game no one plays for long.Reminds me of BDO - I would still be playing that now if not for how grindy and pay-for-convienence it is, or if it started out how it is no with the gear progression, and it was much more unforgiving years ago and kept me from playing for longer periods of time. The world and building could easily suck me into this game, if it doesn't kill the vibe halfway through by being not worth it or running into toxic groups all the time
You know, claiming that Pax Dei is already dead is like telling you, way back when you started your channel, that your channel was already dead because it had only 10 or so subscribers. Give the game a chance to grow, man.
So 80% of player base leaving isn't dead? Your argument has more holes than a pen cushin. Your channel starts out with one or 2 subs it's called alpha then you get 1000 now your in beta then you get 12k subs now your in EA then 80% leave now it's a dead TH-cam channel.
I love combat and gathering/crafting in New world. They nailed the audio as well, it sounds almost real when you mine rocks, chop trees etc. But the game really needs survival-craft style base building. If they added a new massive sized territory that allowed us to build...that would be epic.
i was going to get this but your video has highlighted that this is not the game for me, waitng 1hr for iron to smelt is not my idea of fun, i have actually unwishlisted it. thnx for ur the video
YES this is just a CLAN and not a SOLO MMO :P Read what the Devs write about this MMO.... Early Access means THIS Game is full time W I P. Yes, is like Player founding this Game - but Player are founding also CiG Star Citizen and AoC ... sooo what? MMO means MULTI PLAYER like classic DAoC and not play SOLO all the Time :P And its OK when crafing things needs other crafter(because teampaly) and TIME to do it ^^ Pax Dei, is not ready yet, Star Citizen is not ready yet ... AoC ist not rdy yet... I like these nice projects, I play and support such projects before the "PC" MMO RPG era comes to an end
Only difference from AoC is that it didn't came out in EA. Never will release in EA as far as i know. And probably won't release before another 2 to 3 years to have a full release. At least. That's exactly how long Pax Dei needs to release in EA. Mining rock, right clicking to fight, crafting potions and build a house don't alone make a MMO. Beautiful UE5 don't suffice to make a MMO. Star Citizen died because of that exact reason. 20K daily players for such a massive game isn't anything but a failure. At least they milked money from players and will continue to do so. That's Pax Dei plan. "With a budget of 2.2 million euros raised from private investors (who sit on the studio's board of directors), Mainframe Industries intends to focus on developing a social MMO, based on cloud gaming technologies. The MMO is meant to meet the standards of PC MMOs but also be playable on mobile platforms and connected screens (thanks to cloud gaming). According to the studio, the cloud allows for the creation of 'more ambitious and higher quality games, incorporating more complex physical simulations, artificial intelligence, and character systems to offer a renewed gaming experience, not limited by the constraints of individual platforms.'" 2019 "The Finnish studio Mainframe Industries raises 20.3 million euros to continue developing its massive multiplayer online game, which will be hosted in the cloud." 2021 This raises even more questions, especially when you dig a bit deeper. In 2023, a developer explained that "Pax Dei is free to do what it wants and will never really be finished," (due to the fact its so ambitious, you can never finish it) because they have the support of the said fund. And now, a year later, they are selling their alpha for 40 bucks, claiming they need the support of players. What role does the fund play in this? What impact do the investors have? Did the 30 millions vanished to buy assets and a basic crafting system any survival game already has ? At some point, I don't know how to explain it better than this... The project's communication is super polished. But when you dig deeper, there are 10K contradictions. Like the fact that the guys say they've been dreaming of this game for 20 years. Work on it since 2018. That they're all pros and MMO players. Yet in a promotional video, there's a high-ranking woman saying, "I've never had a gaming PC..." Weird. Yeah, well, it shows. There's nothing to do in your game, and I'd rather do almost anything else, like mowing the lawn, than play it in its current state. And I'm certainly not giving these people 40 bucks on top of that.
It actually kind feels like a super sneaky scam kind of thing. Looking at the road map they put out, it almost seems like they're basically charging players to fill out the world with towns and stuff to flesh out the game. (If that makes sense). It's like players are Paying to hand craft the world out, then the devs will throw some lore and stuff out later... Kind of brilliant in a way I guess? 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Pax Dei is designed for players who're fed up with getting spoon-fed everything and would rather create their own world, including hamlets/villages/towns/strongholds, economy, "quests", etc.
@@veladarney yeah right, so they are not given and tools to do that, and those that are present are dull or broken. Take a look at EvE online and tools they give player to create economy.
@@veladarney that's fair. But then what's the excuse for combat to be so bad, supposedly. What I mean is, if players are filling out the world, why weren't basic interactions and systems like combat not really ready? Honestly curious... 🤷🏻♂️
Not to mention mega guilds basically holding all the land and forcing smaller guilds and groups to either move or buy resources with real money, because they block off all the resource nodes, or block your plot off completely.
Huh...when you pay for a product it should be complete. It would be like buying a burger, establishment says, it's a work in progress so you only get buns right now, but in time, maybe we will provide the rest. EA should always be F2P on Steam. So tired of buying into games with these grand pitches only to NOT deliver a fraction of the scope promised. There can be a founders option as well, where players do pay.
@@jayoddity I absolutely agree, of course there is a difference. But - there are lot´s of players who loves to grind. Who enjoy the process of doing these things. And the developers cleraly comunicated that Pax Dei ain´t a fast-paced game. Sounds right to me.
@@Label07 I disagree. Especially when they clearly communicated that the product won´t be complete when you buy it. They provide a game in an early developement phase and you´re able to participate. Nobody forces you to buy it in that stage. Nor did they promise you anything more than that what they provide at this point.
Idk even with the issues I’ve been having a blast i heard about it the week before release and the graphics low fantasy and graphics beat any other game in this genre also I’ve never really been into MMOs but this has really changed my outlook on them
It's a cool and relaxing game for people that work most of the day. I enjoy it! The only bad thing is the plot system, paying real money for extra space to build is bullshit for a game that you already paid for.
First youtuber i actually listened to who was truthful in analyzing a game. Today it seems a lot of youtubers jump on the ban wagon to get clout. This guy was pretty accurate in his arguements. When you get upset and defend something its usually because the person across from you is telling the truth and you refuse to except it. I play the game i have over 381 hrs invested. Yes some bugs are being fixed and some things are being added. However at the end of the day they are not addressing most players concerns. When you say the game isn't dead yet they are going to do a session wipe and take down some servers it becomes concerning to me and others. So the 80% of steam players who have been AFK for a long period of time, all their data in game will be wiped. Is the game worth the money? No it is not. Is the fame worth trying? Yes its worth trying but not for the price. Is the game a social mmo? No not at this point. The combat is a standard UE5 mechanic with a little tweak, how do i know because i play around with UE5. Grphics 10/10 Combat 2/10 Crafting 5/10 Social 1/10 Emmersive 3/10 Total rating 2.1 out of 5
BG3 in the first weeks of Early Access was quite boring to me, but it turned out to be a game I really like by full release. That of course does not mean that Pax Dei will be good in the end. Thanks for the info though, I think it is clear that this game is not for me right now, but perhaps in a year or two.
This isn't the first game that worked like this... Boundless was voxel based, but similar in that you claim territory and build on that territory... it wasn't ready to compete with minecraft but people still play it and they've built some pretty amazing things. This sounds pretty great to me, but only people who enjoy the building aspect for now.. if that's not your thing, wait and see what else is added. I'm playing an EQ2 Origins server right now though, which is the first time since EQ2 launch they actually went back and changed game mechanics to reset it as much as possible to a 2006 build of the game. It just launched yesterday and there's thousands of people on the one Origins server, IMO check this out if you like theme park MMOs with housing and crafting and all of that. back to Pax - I think they were literally out of money for additional development... is this wrong? Maybe, but there's also major problems if they go seeking funding from a publisher, they lose a lot of creative control.
This game has potential however, my current fear is that it solely relies on the commitment of your clan sticking around and investing the time and resources to build a community. 25hrs in and I’m noticing that everyone is setting their storage to private. This lessons the experience and means it becomes even more of a grind. The foundations are great, but it needs to offer better permissions and protection for those who are committed to working as a team. As for the road map, unless they have more to offer within 3 months, it will struggle to compete with other games upcoming. Especially if New World gets back on track. As the combat in that game is enjoyable and provides a grind worthy experience. I’ll still play Pax Dei for now as it is fun with others and offers a challenging crafting style to learn.
what potential? its just ue5 with some generic survival gameplay. except its terrible because all of the "Sandbox" features are infact just limiting your creativity, tiny plot sizes... pay2win to get bigger base. garbage game, play ANY other survival game i promise they are all better. try minecraft.
If everyone's setting their storage to private, maybe play with less egotistical people? Or join a clan that's actually got a plan on how to make resources common use? My clan built this huuuuuuuge community storage building where you can take your surplus stuff, or stuff you don't need, and everyone can pretty much take whatever they want from there. Works fine.
I enjoy it but also as a solo casual, I'm currently trying to refund it, won't be too mad it gets rejected cuz I have 4 play hours. But It's very relaxing and pretty. But for $40 I'll finish Nightingale and enshrouded first. It's a vibe more than a game for sure.
I was tempted to buy it until I saw what probably will be their subscription policy. $10/lot/month. But what most peeps say is, you need 4 lots to thrive in the game. So thats $40/month. That means I have to buy $100 early access. $100 for early access? Count me out. Then they are being vague about having to pay $40 for the for lots sub fee. So now I might have to pay $40/month just so I didn't throw away my initial $100. And to all that, the game just looks ok with nothing much to do in it right now. I played EQ Next before that was canceled and the building in that was maybe better than it is here. And to top it all off, I hear guilds can seal off the resources by claiming the properties around it. After the debacle I experienced with Chronicles of Elyria, this is a hard pass.
It is well and truly worth the money and completely playable even in it's true early access state. If you can't get $1 an hour worth of value from this game then sandbox MMO's don't suit you. By launch it will rank with SWG and the original version of Eve as a great sandbox MMORPG.
The combat needs love yes. I come from New World and i dont see how the grind in Pax Dei is worse or more complicated than New World. I find it so fun not to need lvl up my char and do endless boring quests, so that part of grind is gone in Pax Dei. Done around 10 hours and there are now 3 full gear sett that i can grind for. You really feel the difference when u get a new gear, so i feel the grind for real progress. I didnt expect anything from this game this early, but im having lots of fun and Will hang around to see how it goes.
It’s a social sandbox MMOG meant to last years, if you unlock and craft everything within 3 days by yourself it defeats the whole idea of the game 😅 This game could have been popular 15 years ago when gamers were more invested and didn’t expect instant gratification by getting everything done asap (as opposed to enjoying the process/journey). It’s gonna be only for niche gamers today. Probably released too early.
but the devs have promised they will develop the game for decades. never mind they havent explained anything and the current game is crap, hand over your wallet for this pay2win sandbox. where freedom goes so far as your wallet.

I've had success making end game weapons and I'm playing just a duo don't listen to this horse shit. Games only been out for 2 days. And it's a ton of fun
Feeling like these long crafting times were designed with steam refund timers in mind. And the building placement “queue” bug that coincidentally overlapped with west coast peak hours.
Yeah, it couldn't just be that, with it being peak hours, more people played than off peak and the additional load might have broken something ... of course it's a conspiracy. Gotta be. It's an online game and this is the internet, after all. Ooooh, look! There's a connection there!
Game is a scam at worst. Bought a 60$ pack, tried to enjoy it for 8 years. Instant regret i can't refund it now. Its empty, boring, blank skeleton of a game with no mechanics. Hell it doesn't even have a trade window between players. What a disgrace!
2:42 that the point the game is not meant to be rushed 3:46 you build more to processed materials. 5:20 the combat is not that bad but like you said the devs said they working on it and there is mage in the game so you have not seen it all. Devs have clearly said the game is not ready we are testing it to help them develop the game and make it better. People need to understand this game is not ready and if you buy it your supporting the game being made. 9:00 there is so much to do in this game its crazy i disagree. A game that came out in EA was V-Rising was not that great at the start but after 1 year with the community help its so good not and its a 9/10 game. People need to stop talk bad when they only have like 3/5hrs ingame and not even got past tie 1 wep armour and tools
Sadly a big dissapointment. Buggy, laggy with bad performance and already running zerks with locked up resource spots thanks to clans... Maybe it gets better later on but i dont think so. It feels like a ue5 glorified tech demo
Early access is lasting one year....and after that they will wipe the server and youll have to start all that over again. The real painful part is that the plots you spent extra money for will also be gone. They currently dont know how theyll re implement those plots when the official games releases. So far the rumor is that youll have to re purchase the plots.
This game is about groups, clans, villages, and cities. This type of game isn't for everyone..... One thing it's not is a game for people who can't be bothered to play a game so they want crafting to be instant.
The game is out for 24 hours, and you ask questions like, "Is it dead or worth playing?" Like wtf, bruh, chill. It's a good game with a lot of potential. AND it's early access. You wanna an early-access game to be perfect?
And things will be EXACTLY the same for that one, once it gets released - some people will outright hate it, someone will pronounce it dead on arrival (or dead after two weeks), people will complain it's not what they were promised ...
I love this game so far. It’s not finished and there is more coming. There was a need for the community to start building up since this is such a socially heavy game. And personally, I love the social aspect. I went over to my “neighbor’s” plot yesterday just to say hi and look around. It’s fun that other people will see my creations and appreciate them instead of trying to destroy them. I look forward to the introduction of lore and conflict to provide a reason for the fight. I also look forward to the improvements and tweaks in the combat system and balancing of the crafting systems. Looking forward to markets and just praying the economy works. I just really love the idea of feeling like I’m playing this game with other people, and not just playing as a single player alongside other single players like in other MMO’s. I find it interesting that so many people are reviewing this game as if it’s a finished product when the devs have been clear about where they are on the roadmap. I hope people will see that this game has so much potential, and there aren’t many reasons to believe that it won’t be able to reach that potential.
What happens when you need a certain resource and a mega guild has constructed plots around that resource making it impossible for you to acquire? Sounds like you are in the honeymoon phase. Give it time and the prevalent issues will show through. Glad you're having fun, not trying to ruin that for you. Just a dose of truth/perspective.
@@Label07I see the point you’re making. I’ve found that resources respawn pretty quickly, though. I think it’s a great question to pose to the developers. Until everything is balanced and the game is considered complete, I can’t judge the game on that problem when it hasn’t happened yet. I think early access is important to see what kind of problems will come up so they can be resolved before the final product is released. I mean, that’s what I signed up for. 🤷🏼♀️ honeymoon phase, maybe. I’ve enjoyed worse games that were fully baked, so this game would have to really go down the toilet for me to decide to hate it. I like the concept, I think it’s unique, and it’s worth sticking around for to see what happens.
If this game would have launched at $20 early access with 4 plots each player; they would have 100x as many players and less complaints. Who is making these decisions?
If people want pay to be alpha/beta testers for a company then so be it, it's their money. I'll wait until the game goes golden and is fully release, then i'll check the game out.
I really like the idea of this game. It reminds me of a 3d Ultima Online. I really think they have something here, and I believe the damn internet trolls are going to destroy this title.
@@jayoddity Maybe in that case, rather than being a bad game, it's just not the right kind of game for you? Me, I love the crafting system. Finally something to sink my teeth into that's a real challenge and doesn't feel like the game's trying to hand me everything on a silver tray.
What part of 'EARLY ACCESS' - 'Still in Alpha' is difficult to understand? It's absolutely fair to decide to not 'pay' for helping to test this game for the devs, but Mainframe could not be more clear about the state of the game. Anyone upset about the current state of an 'in-development' game that is playable is just looking for reasons to complain. No one is forcing you to buy anything.
What part of the video is hard to understand? I don't think you can wave away criticism just because it's early access, or we should all go play the day before
@@jayoddity Let's start with the title. "Is it worth playing Pax Dei Right Now" would be a valid topic of discussion. "Is it Already Dead" is click bait. I fully support someone saying they are not going to pay money for a game in early development as they think its a waste of time and money. Others (like myself) have the time and money to mess around while providing feedback for what we all hope will be a great game.
Hello Jay! Great content! I’ve had high expectations for Pax Dei, especially since we are developing a very similar game (Tales of Shadowland on Steam). As a CEO, my opinion is that it was a mistake to go into Early Access so early, and it has been an important lesson for our small studio. Our current plan is to have the game (or at least the early and mid-game) 70-80% complete before launching in Early Access. If we can manage with a fraction of their investment, I'm sure they could also wait for a more polished game. Hopefully, someday you will honor us with a video about our game as well. Keep up the great work, and thanks for this excellent video!
Look, everyone saying the same thing. You can have an Alpha stage game if you dont charge alot, or you can have an almost finished game and charge what you want. You cant have an Alpha, barely playable game and charge top dollar and expect it to do well. Its gonna die on its own cross at this point.
I disagree on the grinding part.. We should go back to the days where it took several years to master skills :D.. like early Runescape smithing skill. If we are going to build online games like Light no fire etc.. then we should go back to the grinding times since people gonna spend ten years there probably :P
If you're a solo player who wants a more adult version of MInecraft, this is the game for you. It will be slow. Grouping up speeds up what you can obtain, but you have to actually play with people who contribute and not leeches. Everything else is literally what I expect for Alpha's. People do not ever see Alpha quality games anymore because of the shitting people do on games they expect alphas that are feature complete. Alphas were never that way. First time I tested the original Doom, we were falling through the floor, monsters were static, and we spent our time reporting error codes to ID Software (Teacher was John Carmack's roomate in college). Even so we had a blast once they put out a more polished build that was functional when it was beta quality. WoW was not much different. Early builds were broken and what the public saw in betas were far better than the start. This company is up front with the state of the game, they put a payment up to attract serious players not f2p andy's. Have a solid road map, and people still shit on them. Just cant win.
I paid 40$ for the game have played 20hrs and just seen a video from another content creator talking about after EA the game will have a paid subscription based on how many plots you have plus it still has some bugs that where in the closed alpha I played . I think Pax dei will die just like last oasis. I was hopeful the game was going to be good, but it is not worth the current money or a subscription, in my opinion
honestly its just a bunch of solos that dont like the game, anyone who has a decent group is waiting for the new features, and having fun along the way
I tried the last one. Ages is an understatement. Its enormously grindy. That and no one actually socialises in it. No one would speak at all. All the guilds etc were predone. No thx. It was also laggy af. Its in no fit state to be paying money for.
Pax Dei really disappointed me. Liked the tests and I just can't understand why they would release this in this state into early access with full price. I will not pay to be a tester. If they want my feedback testing this beta, they should pay ME.
The game is on the same level of "The Day before", grinding for resources and building something is about all it has. !But that is what a "Sandbox MMO" is, why put work into it when you can tell the players that it is their Job to fill the empty word xD Social MMO with 0 social features like voicechat or anything like it ingame, truly only meant as a cashrab, I bet that the game and the Devs will not be around in 12 months. Animations are from asset packs, combat animations are from the asset store, AI is braindead, most of the building elements as well just bought from the store, just have some textures a bit tweaked, there is not much original work in it so far, it is far away from any early access game, it is a tech demo that will never be finished like many of these other UE5 projects that are only thrown out to cash in and then let it die out. Not to mention that they sell $100 packs and also will charge monthly once it is out of ea, not to mention that if you bought the $100 pack that has 4(?) land plots, it will cost you more as a subscription since it will be priced around the number of plots you have, utter braindead system.
I am aware of all the flaws of getting an EA game. And i play Pax Dei being fully aware, that it can bring occasional pain. As long as i can help develop a game, that i believe in, i'm fine with bugs. This is not finished game and i feel, mamy people cannot comprehend that term. Nobody is lying or scamming you here. You have all information present, to make a decision for yourself, wether to play it, or not. If you but ea game and whine about bugs, then you are no different from a person who go to South Sudan for a trip and come back whining about low quality of your hollidays. That only means that you are to stupid to make decisions by yourself.
Pax Dei is far from ready even for early access we need a decent MMO and soon Tarisland looks terrible also. Only saving grace for gaming atm is ASKA..
An excellent example of why early access should just be stopped completely. If developers want people to pay for an unfinished game then it should be crowdsourced.
early access is fine if you have a real game, pax dei is not a real game. just a ue5 asset flip. pax dei does not have any real features, they do not even know how their plot system will work. we are expected to just "trust" some rando devs with our money lmao. their roadmap is just a few dot points in a single slide like it was made by a 10 year old in powerpoint lmao.
@@cranknnutz Well, content creators earn their living too : they earn money by playing games and entertaining their audience. The only remaining problem is players need to learn to have the willpower of a child above 12. Don't buy unfinished products that encourage dev to lower their standard because they still earn money with much less efforts. Its simple : 50% of the cost producing the game for 70 to 80% of the earnings selling EA. Sell it, work a bit, find a way to monetize more things (plots) and move on to another game. I mean, its this reasoning that governs investors behind the biggest licenses (CoD, AC, Fifa...). Why release a good game every 4 to 5 years when you sell as much every year with way less efforts ? Not many studios value long term efforts instead of short term incomes. But to be fair, players set the mood. Stop consuming games like a child that can't restrain itself. Problem solved. I mean, to be fair I don't care. Players waste their money and time on Pax Dei. I won't buy it unless its clean and finished. It's not like there's 100 games I didn't even get to begin of to finish. If I want to mine rocks, I really don't need people around me to do it. V Rising, Conan, Rust... there's so much released and finished games out there. I don't need to waste time on trash.
it's a money grab; there are no features to test; also, you would think that you want people to reach the endgame feature faster just to test them; why all this grind?
Feel kinda sorry for PAx Dei or MMO´s that are not traditional Themepark´s because ppl are sadly too dumb too read :). Easier to blame a Game then the own inability to read or Inform yourself ^^.
I am not investing my time or money any more on unfinished MMOs. Wish them the best, but I will wait until the game is finished.
Good luck with this game being "finished" any year within the next 10, or more.

Early access has taken on a new meaning and become an excuse for game devs to release completely broken and terrible games for absurd prices only to never follow through on grand promises.
its supposed to go:
tech demo (preparing everything for alpha)
alpha (begin making gameplay loop)
beta (final balancing and polish of gameplay)
release (early access or full release)
pax dei is still techically a tech demo, since they literally do not even know HOW their plot system will function... they literally don't have a game. you can't even call it a game technically.
Early access does not equal release

I love this game. Give it a chance. Devs have been transparent that it's currently in a very early stage. Still fun.

I think an good mortal online or good pax dei mixes what I loved about final fantasy 11 to give me the full sandbox experience. Even 23 years after release I will do more actual in game talking in ffxi than any other mmo I have played.
Sounds like HQ Creative Minecraft mmo
but cant build more than 6 stories high, can't build anything more than a tiny house unless you pay2win, and can't terraform anything. plus all the bases look identical because the building has no options.
Yes it is quite fun. Enjoying it rn.
What? PD has less content after 2 years of development than AoC has from it's EIGHT years of development? Say it isn't so! /sarcasm off
Teaser Trailer projected an idea in which you play like MMO from which you venture into the wild from safe zone, and then cross into even more dangerous zone.
Grindy is fine and good, but the prices to get a bigger land is just too expensive for this game.
You don't need two plots to build everything you need
I’ve given up on all these hyped new releases incoming and early access games and went back to ESO and after five years away the game is so much fun and scratching that MMO itch.
i tried to get back into it but left it again lol
Good info and first look! My guild was wondering if we should try this out yet, so thanks for the warning! Definitely not ready for prime time yet.
But right now it's just a promising concept.
this is not early access. this is alpha.
I don't care what anyone says.)
Mortal Online is a great example.
Best description I found online
Pax Dei is a social sandbox MMO that will attempt to pull off EVE Online in medieval Europe
I'm not sure how PvP is handled in this game, but if it exists at all, the bigger groups will most likely find a way to kill the playerbase like most other PvP builder-survival games if not balanced appropiately
I think it should be somthing like: 1 player can gring for up to 10 plots. The world and building could easily suck me into this game, if it doesn't kill the vibe halfway through by being not worth it or running into toxic groups all the time
Remember when this was a "New World Killer" not even a year ago? I can't wait to see what the next hyped up, but dead on arrival game will be.
The real new world killer is amazon games
new world was never alive
New World got killed by its own Dev’s.
You know, claiming that Pax Dei is already dead is like telling you, way back when you started your channel, that your channel was already dead because it had only 10 or so subscribers. Give the game a chance to grow, man.
The game is definitely not dead. There are players all over the place.
So 80% of player base leaving isn't dead? Your argument has more holes than a pen cushin. Your channel starts out with one or 2 subs it's called alpha then you get 1000 now your in beta then you get 12k subs now your in EA then 80% leave now it's a dead TH-cam channel.
@JesusIsTheWay59 that's funny, then explain their wipe session.?
Jay I just looked into the sandbox and it seems a cat beat us to it.
We need New World but developed by another company on UE5 and managed correct!! World needs good action combat mmo
thats what im saying! if the announcement was to move NW into UE5 that would have been enough for me.
ue5 is a garbage engine honestly, extremely bad performance. ESPECIALLY bad for survival games.
I love combat and gathering/crafting in New world. They nailed the audio as well, it sounds almost real when you mine rocks, chop trees etc. But the game really needs survival-craft style base building. If they added a new massive sized territory that allowed us to build...that would be epic.

YES this is just a CLAN and not a SOLO MMO :P Read what the Devs write about this MMO.... Early Access means THIS Game is full time W I P.
Yes, is like Player founding this Game - but Player are founding also CiG Star Citizen and AoC ... sooo what? MMO means MULTI PLAYER like classic DAoC and not play SOLO all the Time :P And its OK when crafing things needs other crafter(because teampaly) and TIME to do it ^^
Pax Dei, is not ready yet, Star Citizen is not ready yet ...
According to the studio, the cloud allows for the creation of 'more ambitious and higher quality games, incorporating more complex physical simulations, artificial intelligence, and character systems to offer a renewed gaming experience, not limited by the constraints of individual platforms.'" 2019
"The Finnish studio Mainframe Industries raises 20.3 million euros to continue developing its massive multiplayer online game, which will be hosted in the cloud." 2021
This raises even more questions, especially when you dig a bit deeper.
The other two were crowed funded, this is Early access, it's not the same.
Exactly my man
Pax Dei is designed for players who're fed up with getting spoon-fed everything and would rather create their own world, including hamlets/villages/towns/strongholds, economy, "quests", etc.

EA should always be F2P on Steam. So tired of buying into games with these grand pitches only to NOT deliver a fraction of the scope promised. There can be a founders option as well, where players do pay.
There's a difference between instant and being force to grind for grinding sake
@@jayoddity I absolutely agree, of course there is a difference. But - there are lot´s of players who loves to grind. Who enjoy the process of doing these things. And the developers cleraly comunicated that Pax Dei ain´t a fast-paced game. Sounds right to me.

Works fine.
Good analogy with sand and sandbox.
Very nice review. Thanks!
EA should be F2P. 2 hours is nowhere near long enough as a refund period for most games.
Bit pricy for what it is
@@jayoddity 100% especially solo. fingers crossed I get my money back through the retailer lol
By launch it will rank with SWG and the original version of Eve as a great sandbox MMORPG.
this is for the wurm online comunity.

It’s a social sandbox MMOG meant to last years, if you unlock and craft everything within 3 days by yourself it defeats the whole idea of the game 😅
This game could have been popular 15 years ago when gamers were more invested and didn’t expect instant gratification by getting everything done asap (as opposed to enjoying the process/journey). It’s gonna be only for niche gamers today.
Probably released too early.

Grindy is fine and good, but the prices to get a bigger land is just too expensive for this game.
@@samagasi87 Funny how that goes. I look at WoW thinking to myself "it's all your fault, YOU ruined MMOs!" ...
The other thing that I don't like is you can't do any end-game stuff solo
Yeah, that really sucks, it's almost like it's a SOCIAL Sandbox MMO, not a Do-Your-Own-Thing-Solo Sandbox MMO. Oh, wait ...
The dev team taking a summer break immediately after early access release, is all I need to know
Would 5 people be enough in a group? How many would you see needed?
I think 5 is bare mininum but you could get wrecked in pvp
I've had success making end game weapons and I'm playing just a duo don't listen to this horse shit. Games only been out for 2 days. And it's a ton of fun
something about the global release of T&L? we already have an official statement
Pax Deid
Exactly and they deserve it
Game is a scam at worst.
Love the game so far, 100 hours in
Multiple tiers of subscriptions at launch was enough for me to never touch it.
Hey jay, I love your content but you’re reviewing a ‘sand pit’ and you haven’t pulled off the cover where the sand and spade are!
Early access is lasting one year....and after that they will wipe the server and youll have to start all that over again. The real painful part is that the plots you spent extra money for will also be gone. They currently dont know how theyll re implement those plots when the official games releases. So far the rumor is that youll have to re purchase the plots.
thats if the game even exists in 1 year lmao. they will just add some crappy horses probably.
Imho it needs 3 years more in the oven. - then it would be release ready.
This game is about groups, clans, villages, and cities. This type of game isn't for everyone..... One thing it's not is a game for people who can't be bothered to play a game so they want crafting to be instant.
its just a garbage survival crafting building game, it doesnt even have a single mmo feature. obvious scam 0/10 won't buy ever
The game is out for 24 hours, and you ask questions like, "Is it dead or worth playing?" Like wtf, bruh, chill. It's a good game with a lot of potential. AND it's early access. You wanna an early-access game to be perfect?
No the game isnt dead and it is worth playing imo. Very sandboxy MMO. Good graphics
Funny how Quinfall is the game I have most faith in at this time...
I’d be more afraid of bots that plague every mmorpg. If resources are fairly static, you know the flying bots are going to ruin the economy.
Who is making these decisions?
it would still be garbage, the high price is just concrete proof they have zero intentions of making a real game ever. its simply a scam.
If people want pay to be alpha/beta testers for a company then so be it, it's their money. I'll wait until the game goes golden and is fully release, then i'll check the game out.
playing with a good size group, the combat... needs full rework, and the PVP needs to be in the Wildlands, atm there feels like no reason to gear up.
It feels like a scam game. I'm not paying for plots
I really like the idea of this game. It reminds me of a 3d Ultima Online. I really think they have something here, and I believe the damn internet trolls are going to destroy this title.
This game is like dating a really hot girl. Looks great but it’s very simple and doesn’t have too much going on.
2:54 it sounds like a plus not a minus
For some it probably is. It ain't for me.
@@jayoddity Maybe in that case, rather than being a bad game, it's just not the right kind of game for you? Me, I love the crafting system. Finally something to sink my teeth into that's a real challenge and doesn't feel like the game's trying to hand me everything on a silver tray.
crafting can be used as filler when there isnt other things to really do
What part of 'EARLY ACCESS' - 'Still in Alpha' is difficult to understand?
Others (like myself) have the time and money to mess around while providing feedback for what we all hope will be a great game.
combat is decent once u get spells
No its not already dead. And m enjoying the game actually pretty much. i do think this game wil become something.
i am sorry for your loss, you could have bought mcdonalds with that money instead!
@pvprangergod4024 I can still go to the fcn McDonald's. I spend today 75,- on food and drinks haha. And yes I also go to the GYM. So no worries bruh
If a game like New World cant survive, this games got no chance!
Keep up the great work, and thanks for this excellent video!
you are also developing a scam? interesting!
Just cant win.
minecraft is 1000x better than this garbage scam. don't even compare them.
Everyone keeps talking graphics, the 3rd most played and populated mmo is OSRS... C'mon
Graphisc are nice, they matter to some not others
Pax Dei really disappointed me. Liked the tests and I just can't understand why they would release this in this state into early access with full price. I will not pay to be a tester. If they want my feedback testing this beta, they should pay ME.
The game is on the same level of "The Day before", grinding for resources and building something is about all it has.
!But that is what a "Sandbox MMO" is, why put work into it when you can tell the players that it is their Job to fill the empty word xD
Social MMO with 0 social features like voicechat or anything like it ingame, truly only meant as a cashrab, I bet that the game and the Devs will not be around in 12 months.
Only saving grace for gaming atm is ASKA..
sounds like a cash cow game at $100 its dead
With ability to only get land plots for real money right?
It's grindy because there is not really much content in the game. People grind crafting to max and leave.
An excellent example of why early access should just be stopped completely. If developers want people to pay for an unfinished game then it should be crowdsourced.
I think early access is fine. The bigger problem is content creators hyping up early access games which gets everyone's expectations way too high.
Definitely another problem. Gotta get those clicks 😉
early access is fine if you have a real game, pax dei is not a real game. just a ue5 asset flip. pax dei does not have any real features, they do not even know how their plot system will work. we are expected to just "trust" some rando devs with our money lmao. their roadmap is just a few dot points in a single slide like it was made by a 10 year old in powerpoint lmao.
I don't need to waste time on trash.
it's a money grab; there are no features to test; also, you would think that you want people to reach the endgame feature faster just to test them; why all this grind?
idk why the released in early access unless they are desperate for money. This game is still in alpha, nowhere near complete enough for early access.
Hey Jay
Hey Rozi!
Feel kinda sorry for PAx Dei or MMO´s that are not traditional Themepark´s because ppl are sadly too dumb too read :).
Easier to blame a Game then the own inability to read or Inform yourself ^^.
Hard pass but you do you and have fun doing whatever you want.
Love the game have played 40 hours so far Apart from a few earl hicups its as stable. Best mmo potential Your best in a group like old day gaming,
Best MMO potential, with everything missing great MMO have...
