Another fabulous demonstration of Jesper’s grasp of cinematic techniques. The subject of soaring is a very challenging one to bring to screen; Jesper’s use of longer focal lengths, and superbly stable pans brings a serenity to the scenes, which personify the art of the sailplane. Bravo!
A beautifully edited video. It certainly made me regret not being able to take my gliding to its full potential. I recall flying sailplanes made of wood and fabric, not needing to refer to the airspeed indicator because all I needed to do was to listen to the pitch of the air rushing through the struts and other parts that created lots of drag .I recall my feeling of near panic when I was sent aloft in a Club Libelle for the first time and experienced silent flight and a fear that I would overfly the tow plane. A very slippery experience as we had no dual seat glass machine to practice in and it was like being put into a formula 1 race car for the first time as the controls were very twitchy indeed. All in all,I had quite a few years of gliding in many types of aircraft and enjoyed it immensely. When I see a video as good as this one, I am taken back in time and recall the good times I had flying gliders. Cheers from Downunder🙂
Hello Aussie mate. I'm 52 and just got my Hang 2 rating after 5 months of hang glider training under aerotow. It's been an incredible journey that I love. I really want to lose about 15 more pounds and learn to do this. Seems like the next logical step for me. I love powerless flight and the serenity it gives you. Sorry to hear you're no longer flying, but at least you are one of the rare ones that have. Congrats on a great experience from your beginnings of wood and fabric to the slippery high performance sailplanes. I envy you and hope I can share the same comment you just made some day. God bless you and yours. If you're from down under, what does that make me in America? Up sideways? LOL
What a beautiful film about gliding Jesper. I shared it on my Facebook page. When I was around fourteen years old I was lucky enough to fly over Sweden to look at the Vättern lake from a Bergfalke at Ödestugu, near Jönköping. I can still be found in the sky in my native country of the Netherlands.
You make me miss Soaring and the the now non-airworthy H-301 Libelle. (Moisture damage). Minden Nevada, and Truckee we're the old play ground. Thanks for the beautiful memories.
Hello Jesper, I liked your videos and how to edit it, I really liked this glider video, I would love you to make more videos to your glider style ... I love the radio control plane and its world and the real ones always catch my attention. Thank you very much for sharing, greetings from Spain. Jesus.
G'day a truly fantastic film there is something about them and the film captures it! They are beautiful and the backing music befits the film thank you for showing this video I really enjoyed it. Kind regards John Tasmania Australia
"If flying were the language of man, soaring would be it's poetry." The splash quote from Condor.... anyone know where its from? This video seems like it'll have the audience who knows ^.^
Verkligen underbart! Du har definitivt fått dig en ny prenumerant - keep up the good work!
The aeronautical humidity dispersion effect coming off the airframe is always dramatically stunning to watch. As an Air Force veteran it never ceases to amaze me the grace of flight whether F-15's in my day or the glider which landed at my College in 1973.
Good. To stay interested, make sure you start cross-country with an instructor and, once you're ready, by yourself. That's where the real fun is to be had.
Started my glider career 20 years ago but had to stop 10 years ago because of my work ! I regret having to work ! I miss it every f****g day ! I look at the clouds remembering how this way of flight is not only a sport, but a part of each. Many thanks for this movie that mades me thrill !
Fantastiskt fint! Gillade verkligen den korta timelaps sekvensen, det kan så lätt bli "gadget" men får all sin mening i just en segleflygfilm - perfekt!
Thanks my friend! Im very happy to hear that :) Well filming Aviation is my passion and i dont do it for money or fame. Just loved to do it :) All the best.
Jesper Rådegård I agree with Ryan. Your videos are absolutely delightful to enjoy over and over again. You should at least have a Patreon account so we can support your efforts in some small way. I'm sure there is some new equipment you have been wanting to buy or travel expenses you could do with having covered, or something! 😊❤️
"The Best Ever Soaring Video!" Thank you for sharing. If I may ask, what camera did you use to capture all the footage? Thanks again...Just so beautiful & it makes you watch it over & over again... I Love It!!!
Wotta lotta gear. Millions of dollars worth. However, if you live in the UK and vist your local gliding club you can buy a trial flight for about half an hour, in a modern two seater, which includes training from a qualified instructorsnd often a limited membership deal, and have change from £100. Give it a go.
Great video. Great sport. Started in 1967. Solo'd at 16 in 1968. Still gliding in 2023.
If I may ask, what was your reason for soaring? Who introduced you to it? What excited you about it? What was your goal for learning?

Wow! Love high aspect wing gliders.
I love that kind of sky!!!
Dumping the water ballast was aerodynamically interesting, beautiful film, thanks!
Is that what that was? I thought it was a weak smoke trail. LOL Thanks for the comment and opening my eyes to that.

Keith Lucas I believe this is the water ballast being dumped before landing. Beautiful nevertheless.
Thanks for the laugh guys.
Lovely stuff. Great filming. Thanks for sharing.
Gosh I miss flying. Over 20 years ago for me. Go Malmö...

Great footage. A great video. Thank you :-)
