    I don't care if it's Ragnar's song, it's still wonderful. When I heard it, it was the first time for years that I got the magic feeling of hearing a perfect song - one that hits all the sweet spots in my brain. It's catchy, but then also has all the little prog things, which melody- and rhythm-wise make it interesting and not obvious. Also, this version sounds much better than the original by Sign. Well done Ragnar, Daniel, and whoever else made this.
    PS. Reasons is amazing as well. Welcome back, PoS.

    You can always tell when a song is a masterpiece when it is too emotionally cutting to listen to. This song definitely fits that criteria.

    • @asylumental
      @asylumental 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree...its a super intense song, emotionally..
      But you have to be going through it, or have went through it, for it to hit those chords and make you feel such.

    LYRİCS:
    I still smell of sweat
    Still the scent of my giving in
    Tried to feel regret
    But I wanted to stay on my skin
    I still fantasize
    Close my eyes to the wrong again
    Still those "fuck me" eyes
    As I'm licking the palm of my hand
    How the hell am I supposed to keep myself
    When you are so damn far away
    And everything feels meaningless
    And I am not mine
    How the hell am I supposed to keep myself
    When you are so damn far away
    And everything feels meaningless
    And I am not mine
    I still smell of sex
    Still her taste on my fingertips
    Try to feel remorse
    But it's hard with her wet on my lips
    How the hell am I supposed to keep myself
    When you are so damn far away
    And everything feels meaningless
    And I am not mine
    How the hell am I supposed to keep myself
    When you are so damn far away…

    I have a love hate relationship with this song. whenever I listen to it (can't refrain myself from doing it, amazing sound) my inner voice keeps saying, "man, you cheated on her and now trying to find excuses saying you are not here, I couldn't control myself, you don't own me and all the blah blah. just break up dude. obviously, you feel suffocated so do something for yourself and finish it!" this toxic mysterious man bullshit just drives me insane. yet, I still love the song.

    • @andres14142
      @andres14142 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my opinion he talks about a struggle that some man have at some point in their lives, specially if they are middly successful.
      I don't think is toxic. Is a real struggle. And I love the way he wrote it, just real, raw as is an uncomfortable truth.

    This is really unexpected in many ways. The tones, the melodies, the structure, the video, it all makes me feel really uneasy - which is, I guess, what PoS were trying to accomplish. I have the feeling this is going to be an one-of-a-kind album!

      @MatheusManente 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Daniel spoke about it in his Facebook page. Even though Rockers Don't Bathe was never released as part of an official album, Ragnar loves that song. So he wanted to rework it and release it officially with PoS. After all, he is part of the band now. They thought it would be a great song for this album, and thus it was remade with different ending and lyrics.

    Daniel is getting buried in this song. A song originally composed by Ragnar. Whose title is "Meaningless". I read this song as Daniel's way to tell about his decision reggarding PoS lineup. "He needs somethig of his own, something he can control" and if guilt comes with that decision, than it's fine. Absolute masterpiece.

    It's one of those tracks on an album which you learn to appreciate I presume. I remember having that on the previous albums with some tracks too.
    I just wanted to be blown away by the first released track, but I wasn't. For me the song seems to be all over the place, not sure if that's a good impression to make when creating the first "feel" for the new album.
    Still looking forward to hearing more though, in the meanwhile I'll just put this one on repeat and see what happens.

    I tried to come up with the lyrics from this. I still need some help for some parts. Feel free to correct me and add where needed. Thanks in advance:
    I still smell of sweat
    Still a scent of my giving in
    Tried to feel regret
    But I wanted to stay on my skin
    I still fantasize
    Close my eyes to be wrong again
    Still those sparkling eyes(?)
    As I'm licking the palm of my hand
    How the hell am I supposed to keep myself
    When you are so damn far away
    And everything feels meaningless
    And I am not mine
    How the hell am I supposed to keep myself
    When you are so damn far away
    And everything feels meaningless
    And I am not mine
    I still smell of sex
    Still her taste on my fingertips
    Tried to feel remorse
    But it's hard with her wet on my lips
    How the hell am I supposed to keep myself
    When you are so damn far away
    And everything feels meaningless
    And I am not mine
    How the hell am I supposed to keep myself
    When you are so damn far away
    And all I choose is meaningless
    And I am not mine
    I need? something in my heart
    Something with a ??? dark?
    Something ???? wrong
    Something that I can't control
    I need something on my own
    I need something cutting to the bone
    I need something that is mine
    If that must be guilt, then fine
    I wanted something nice, but fine
    This guilt is a whore?, but is mine
    Wanted something burnt?
    This guilt and the whore?, but is mine

      I think your are right with those and eyes. Upon further listenings, I think it could be "Still those sparkling eyes". Thanks for the suggestion.
      Could also be steal instead of still? Doesn't make much sense anyway xD

      In the spoken part at the end I hear "I need something of my own, something with a lock at the door, a room just for me alone, something that i can control." And then again "I need something of my own", not on my own. The end I don't get either...

    • @RuptimusPrime

    When I first watched the video (that was before the release of the album), I was disturbed by the imagery and the song itself. Now that I have listened to the full album, I now understand the reasons why this imagery was chosen to express the song. All I can say is this song sounds better now that I have a context to put it in. If you haven't listened to the album yet, GO CHECK IT OUT!

    I really like Ragnar, incredible voice, but I would have preferred to hear Daniel on those parts. Did he damage his voice or something? He seems to sing DG's best parts live as well.
    Not a big fan of the vocals during the verses, but the chorus and the music overall exceeded my expectations and I am cautiously optimistic about the album, something I couldn't say since I heard Scarsick and what followed.
    Also, that video is messed up, and I've been around for a while, it's hard to weird me out lol.

    • @Norce555
      @Norce555 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He's simply getting old I think. He can sing most parts, but singing them regularly live would probably wear out his voice quite quickly.

    • @betinmeistika

      osi my thought is daniel chooses to step back a little bit to give ragnar and the rest of the guys space. So the fans will get familiar with the new members, and also to make PoS feels like a band instead of daniel's work.

    • @markototev
      @markototev 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    • @betinmeistika
      @betinmeistika 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      osi what's disappoint me is the fact that this is not a new song made for the concept of this album, but a cover/remake/remix whatsoever. But it's still a great song though.

      Cara, até onde eu sei, o Pain of Salvation não tem selo aqui no Brasil para lançar os cds, então eles não liberam nem para o streaming (gravadora/selo/artista pode definir isso, liberar por região, mundialmente e etc.) e aparentemente o Daniel também é bem chato com essas coisas, logo, ficamos aqui sem saber se algum dia teremos PoS em algum serviço de streaming no Brasil =/

    Turns out the song is a cover of another song called "rocker's don't bathe" by Sign. A song released in 2012. I think calling it a cover does not do it justice since the lyrics are changed and think the guitarist is a part of the band "sign" so it seems more of a re imagining.

    • @jilden999

    Three years ago I found the girl I really love. The one. However, we got together two months before she had to leave for studies. We tried to maintain a distance relationship but it was too painful. A few days ago we met and decided to cease communications because talking while knowing that we can't be close is probably more painful than not talking at all. This song has brought me to countless tears, but I couldn't be more thankful.
