  • Join me for the premiere of my newest video. This one doesn't disappoint!
This piece of rough (I think it is Lightning Ridge) is the last of three stones in the first parcel I bought on Opal Auctions from the ADOpals shop. This piece is 2.55 carats in weight and 15.2 x 7.8 x 4.2 mm in size. It has a wonderful dark body tone with a purple-blue cast and some bright green flecks (moss pattern, I guess). Join me on this opal's journey and I think you will be surprised with the results!

Thanks, John. I need to post some ugly stones so I can actually critique in that part.

Hey Don, I've got some important feedback for you! I really love how you have 'developed' your own way of showing each opal. From rough to finished, then the good, bad and ugly; while numbering them in case you make multiple videos of one stone. It's really cool and they can be discussed and/or compared amongst themselves at later points. These can be compared in many other ways, too. For instance, Australian vs. African, or stones from different places in one area. These stats can be looked at by many different data points to show if there is a real difference between stones. Cool! 😎

G’day Don, you’ve done a fantastic job on the rectangle cushion cut and polish, the wonky one has a good polish 🤣👍, it happens more easily with smaller stones. Cheers.

Oh Nancy....... Glad to see you as well, my friend! I hope you are doing well. Did you see that brilliant blue pinfire (I hope that's what it's called) at the beginning? I love that stuff! 😍 The opal makes you sit up straight and pay attention! 🧐😱 Until we cross paths again, I send you blessings from Alabama ❤️

I just went back and watched the video. At the beginning, there was blue pinfire (which is what I think it's called); flashes of brilliant blues out of nowhere! Just gorgeous to me! Overall, I think you could sell them at $125 to $150 for the set. I'm adding a few extra dollars because of all the extra colors when you turned them at the end and for the stone being from Lightning Ridge (if it's true). Although the African ones you get have a ton more color and larger carat sizes, I had no idea that those rich opal mines produced them. It was only until I joined and started watching your channel. I do learn something new every day! 😱 Now, where did I store my extra brain cells to store this knowledge? Oh! I forgot! Maybe I stored those "remembrance" brain cells with them! 😜🫣🙄🤣
It was great seeing everyone in chat! I'm so sorry that I was late for the party! 😭 Thanks for sharing your stone 181's journey, Don! Two beautiful stones with a lot of class, my friend! 😉 Blessings from Alabama ❤️
