Earlier this year, I traveled from California to Boulder, CO just to hear them play this song. It's always been my favorite Descendents song, but I knew they hadn't play it in years. I took a sign with me that said PEP TALK on it (to make sure they would see it) and kept it in my pocket the whole show. I endured the mosh pit at the very front of the stage, and at the beginning of each encore, I held up my sign. Milo mugged at it jokingly a few times, but at the end of the second encore, took my sign and said "This one's for the guy in the front." I got to sit onstage and see them play Pep Talk after 31 years of them not playing it, and it's probably the best moment I've ever had at a concert. (PS. Shoutout to Amy Dumas for letting me know that they had started playing Pep Talk again. Wouldn't have thought to go otherwise)
How do you know they hadn't played it in 31 years? I think it's unlikely they'd be able to play a song they hadn't played in 31 years. I was in a band, and I would forget how to play songs after only a couple of years.
@@trevorlambert4226 Because if you look at their Setlist.fm entry, the last time they played it before 2018 was in 1987. They had just started playing it again before the show I went to, but I wasn't sure if it was just a temporary addition to their setlist. Thankfully, they've been playing it at almost every show since.
Dork Central I first time I saw the Descendents live was 95(?) I think for their Everything Sucks tour. They played a lot...and I mean a LOT of classics...now I could be wrong but I am almost positive they played Pep Talk...I was so stoked because after being a fan since the 80s as a teen they had temporarily (at the time) got back together and I swear it felt like they played EVERYTHING I could possibly want to hear them play. It was one of the best shows I’d ever gone to. I’ve seen them several times since then but that show was still probably their best and my favorite. Nothing beats being able to see a band who had broken up before discovering them and then getting to see them multiple times when thinking you’d NEVER see them when you first get into them and become obsessed with for many years after the fact. Legendary punk band and I say that with absolute zero hyperbole intended! Cheers, man!
I know it's not the same, but this song really helped me through my moving away. I'm 24 and am moving from Australia to the Uk and this helped me get through it even before the breakup happened

Ya, I went through many breakups in my day, but the worst was when my baby momma got rid of our daughter and left me before she was born. It happened while I was on vacation to visit my parents and break the news. When I came home, I found out otherwise.
This and I'm the one are definitely going to be playing a lot after my friend I had feelings for looks to have found herself a man. Fun fact: I first discovered how relatable these guys were through her so this seems a bit weird.

Awesome story!!

I had to watch a coffee ad before I could hear this descendents song, youtube is doing something right
Well, it's been 4 years since this comment, it's 2018 and TH-cam is now advertising itself... oh, how things change.
Coffee *>AND
This got me through high school
I was going to comment that this takes me back to high school
It’s getting me through now
Stoninky Doinky Same here man
Between this and "Ace," the Descendents definitely talked at least a few people off the ledge. Very positive song.
Saw them last night at the palace theater in st. Paul. Approximately 24 hours later and I'm single, so here we are.
it's insane how underrated this is, superb songwriting
Hung out with Stephen Eggerton, Bill Stevenson, and Tony Lombardi a while back. Great people ALL around.
You're the best and DON'T YOU FORGET IT!!!!!!!!!!
Salad Fingers quotes Descendents!
Worlds collide and I can now die without regrets!
This song saves lives.
My favorite punk band.
Divorced six times, countless breakups... This song's always been there for me. Yeah!
I know it's not the same, but this song really helped me through my moving away.
I'm 24 and am moving from Australia to the Uk and this helped me get through it even before the breakup happened
Karl Alvarez' playing is fuckin stellar on this track
Thank you Milo. I appreciate your strength 💪
what a classic. The best skating days. 92 Honda and weed
Drugs don't make you cool
Quizaro Robzaqu I don’t see anybody anywhere claiming that drugs make anybody cool but thanks for the PSA there, Nancy Reagan!
One of their finest & that's saying something. This & Cheer are soulful for broken hearts...
Oddly, though I love this song, I never much liked Cheer. Fan favorite status notwithstanding
@@cultreader9751 cheer is one of their best songs imo
I got rejected and only listened to this song 200 times.
LMAOOO
@@username6058 What's funny about that?

love this band.. used to travel away have them on my minidiskplayer ..
Damn I broke up with my girlfriend two months ago after dating for a year and a half. I still love her and this song is just what I needed
One of the best songs ever.
It's not the end of the world
Since your baby left you
It's gonna be okay
You don't need her anyway
You're looking around for someone to love
So you don't have to face the world alone
But give it some time and you might find
That you're better off on your own
Cause you could be dead right now
You could be the stupidest thing in the world
But you're not, look at what you've got
And stop thinking about that girl
You deserve the best, but it's up to you to get it
Don't settle for less, you know you're gonna regret it
It's not the end of the world
Since your baby left you
It's gonna be okay
You don't need her anyway
Watching the tube, moping around
Might as well be six feet underground
You're watching the game go by
Waiting for the final score
You got the beer commercials memorized
So you've probably heard this before
But this ain't the TV talking to you
It's a friend who's gonna tell you what you can do
You deserve the best, but it's up to you to get it
Don't settle for less, you're the best and don't you forget it
I know what you're thinking... you'll never find another
And even if you did, well, you couldn't love her
But out there somewhere is the person, place or thing
That you need to make you believe in you
It's not the end of the world
Since your baby left you
It's gonna be okay
You can find something better anyway
Just take your time. and you will find
What your life requires
Just take your time. and you will find
What your heart desires
Just take your time. and you will find
You will find
