100% facts, chain stores are great when you need a late night / early morning feed on a inter-city run, but in general during the day support the small independents and get better food 👍
I always have a chuckle when everyone in the US turn their nose up at egg on a burger. I explained it when over there you have bacon and eggs don't you? That stumps them. Then the look on their faces when I explained a fish and chip shop hamburger with the lot😆. Lettuce tomato bacon cheese fried onion egg beetroot and pineapple. 😅
I've seen a few TH-cam US cookery channels, and a few who react to all things Australian cook Aussie hamburgers, to pretty much universal approval. They've also tried and much appreciate our meat pies.
@ I had relatives over in the US and spent 2 months with them from West to East Coasts. Their reaction was universal. My Cousin who had lived here for a year or two used to “egg” me on to tell them. Then he explained how delicious it was and they warily accepted it may be so.
@@prdcuc We have an ace up our sleeves, too. USAFL, particularly the women's comp. That brings in their fellas and kids, who also want to play - and the perfect opportunity to introduce meat pies, sausage rolls, and sausage sizzles to more Americans.
When I was out on deliveries for work, I used to stop at a place that had what they called a ''tradie's roll.'' Tradie is Aussie slang for tradesman, anyway this had two eggs, bacon, cheese, a sausage and a hash brown in a bread roll and it was amazing!
Red Rooster roast chicken is pretty good and dont go to 711 for a pie go to a local bakery and grab a pie, sausage roll, chocolate eclair and a chocolate milk or iced coffee. Dont forget the king george whitting or any fish at the fish n chip shop with some chicken salt on the hot chips.
Australian quality is right up there . If its not fresh and flavorful you wont be in business for long . I much prefer Hungry jacks to Mackas . It tastes better and the burgers are bigger . Its not possible for them to cover everything but Australia has some amazing Fish and chip shops and Kebab shops and most food trucks are really good. We have a strong Asian influence being in Asia but we also have the Greeks and Italian coffee and Pizza . Competition is high so its got to be pretty good , Sarbucks found that out .
@@petemedium2185 There is no need to swear mate. British how dare uou. As a ex-baker, hot food always tastes better than cold.and as such you can hide poor quality. So if it tastes realy good cold its going to taste beautiful hot.
Zamberios was founded in Australia by a doctor who was born in Scotland. Zamberio is all across Australia but is also in New Zealand, the UK and the US. GYG was started in Australia by two New Yorkers.
The best roast chicken comes from a charcoal Chicken shop they do fresh salads hot chips or hot vegetables as well and fish and chip shops , 5:10 they leave places like McDonald's, Kentucky chicken ect in the dust there is no comparison.
We have plenty of other chains here in Australia. Nandos is fairly big, which is actually a South African chain doing Portuguese style chicken. Oporto is an Australian brand doing... you guessed it... Portuguese style chicken (but in a more beachside Sydney way). We have Zambreros which is a GYG style thing. We have Grill'd and their offshoot Roll'd. Betty's Burgers & Concrete Co. The Yiros Shop. Schnitz, which does schnitzel themed food. And so on. We recently lost a bunch of brands with the collapse of a few food related franchise trust funds. But there's always replacements. Food is an essential.
Our bacon rasher isnt that different. We take a whole rasher. That can be the whole rasher of cut in half. The skinny half is what Americans call bacon and the bigger end is what Brits call bacon but we us the whole rasher.
When you order from GYG you can request your choices of hot sauce. they used to be all available on pump at the restaurants pre-covid and they never came back.
Walked past Zambrero a few times now and the place looks so pristinely organized and sterile that it scares me. I even feel my wallet getting lockjaw before seeing any prices.
Great review! Yeah Red Rooster is ten times better than KFC, their whole roasted chicken doesn't taste like hormones. Also D Neal if you haven't had a decent spring roll, you haven't lived 🙂 Long time fan of your channels, keep'em comin' Merry Xmas 🎄
He is true about authentic mexican prices - my local mexican restaurant $8.90 for a taco, burritos $31.90, quesadilla $34.90 (all in AUD) but still expensive.
Zambrero - let's beat world hunger - "Every time you buy a regular/big burrito or bowl, Kids Zam Box or retail item at Zambrero a meal is donated to someone in the need around the world through our Plate 4 Plate Initiative." Zambrero is more expensive than GGY tho.
fmd never buy a pie from a gas station . we have so many authentic pie makers here , lol what an insult , judging our aussie pies from an indian gas station . lmfao
Never tried the Zambrero, But when it comes to GyG, I find it isn't really spicy enough, and worth adding some Tobasco or Cholula to enhance the flavour.
Not really For 1 "nasty chemicals" is a very nebulous term as EVERYTHING is made of chemicals 2 we still have additives here is auz just less that Americans do
The reason why is the government put a fat an sugar tax on fast food. Why because we have what you call universal healthcare an the government said they couldn't afford to pay for people to eat unhealthy food so to stop that they put high taxes on fast food
I'm an Aussie expat in Malaysia, and we get milo for the breakfast menu it's great, but the muffins are not as good, but the chicken muffin rocks also x3 cheaper. Aussie products here are cheaper than Australia work that one out the Government is taxing you way too much.
Burger King is nothing like Hungry Jacks as far as quality is concerned. There are a few scuzzy HJ's, but most are superior to McDonalds. McDonalds and KFC are also far superior to US equivalents. Many of the improvements (eg McCafe) came from Australia to the US. Even our Taco Bell is much better too. Australian food safety standards are far higher, and many additives and preservatives you use in the US are banned in your franchises here (and in Europe as well). Remember the whole "Royale with Cheese" thing in Pulp Fiction. It's totally true. Also, you can order Wagyu burgers at Hungry Jacks. And McDonalds. The food quality just doesn't compare at all. But yeah, a good local takeaway is gonna put them to shame with a burger with the lot.
Americans have scrambled eggs, fried bacon, what is the difference. I don't like Maccas, Hungry Jacks, KFC or any franchise fast food. Give me a fish and chip shop any day. Value for money. My favourite is a Meat Pie from a bakery.
Hungry Jacks has not been owned by Burger King for a long time. It ended in a big court case and Hungry Jacks won. They had to give up all stores and pay a lot of money because they got greedy. Our stores made too much money and they wanted a bigger share. When the owners 30 year contract was almost over they stopped them selling, they almost closed these people down so they could force changes. They lost. We had way better food anyway. I have been to America 6 times and I refuse to eat until I get to Canada. The food makes me sick. Macca’s doesn’t have a healthy choice menu or even thick shakes. I ordered frozen yoghurt with fresh fruit and they looked at me like I fell out of the sky. At that time that was available here. Noodle Box is our family favourite but we eat a lot of Asian food we cook at home. Mostly Japanese because it tastes so good and it is healthy. An average meal is cooked in under 20 minutes. My husband and I learned to cook authentic Japanese during the first two years of COVID for something different to do. Tonight he cooked a king prawn stir fry with vegetables, mirren, sake, soy sauce, oyster sauce and chili. We leave out the Udon noodles unless we have guests. We rarely use a fast food restaurant and if we do we never use the drive through.
That would explain why back in the early 2000's, Hungry Jacks DID turn into Burger King but then several years later, they turned back into Hungry Jacks.
Hungry Jacks eggs are exactly like McDonald's eggs.. over cooked and IMO gross. That said I do like the sausage & egg on a Turkish bread roll option from HJs with a hashbrown inside, I just omit the egg
a smal town bakery or a beachside fish and chip shop will put any takeaway chain store to shame in australia.
Ends up cheaper too, and you don't feel like shit after.

My test for a really good pie is if it tastes good when it's cold and without sauce it's a Goodin.

Australia loves its international foods - Thai, Vietnamese and Lebanese dpread all over, Sushi/Bento/Noodle joints in practically every mall
😂 I am now cooking at 11pm in australia because of this. Noodle Bar is awesome!
good he threw in a meat pie there, guzman is probably my favorite of these
Your local bakery has the freshest and best meat pies and sausage rolls. And they are not American franchises.
Maccas brekky is better. But the burgers are the so much better at Hungrys Jacks. A Whopper with cheese is awesome.
Everything Australian is better quality than anything American.
Hungry Jacks has the Wrap and Cap meal, where you have a Breakfast Wrap, a hash brown, and a cappuccino.

I do - warm and lovely lady
As soon as hungry jacks released the bacon and egg roll with bbq sauce on a trukish bun, it was all over for other fast food places
i don't think that's an uncommon thing with cafe/restaurants
I’d rather have a double sausage and egg McMuffin with double cheese. Sooo much better
@Ghorda9 being hospitality my whole life, that isnwjy I like it. Turkish bread rocks
@cheller8357 for me, they seal the deal with the turkish bread. English muffins can be so dry

I like Zambrero. It started up in my home town of Canberra which might explain that. I love it here but many Australians have a different opinion.

The brekky wrap and cap.😍🥰

In Canberra there is a chicken chain called Kingsley's chicken that is so good, puts KFC, Red rooster etc to shame.
Americans use Belly Bacon, English and Australians (and most commonwealth countries) use Back Bacon.
