Yes, there seems to be never ending paper types to try out! Thank you.

this is my go to paper for luminance and derwent drawing pencils. much cheaper than pastelmat and im able to build a lot of layers with no issue. the greys beautiful too.

Yes it is a decent paper, the texture isn't as much to my liking as other textured papers but it does the job well, you're right that layering isn't an issue

Thanks for reviewing this paper. It seems to be quite popular in Europe but no one here in the US has ever heard of it. For easier smooth blends in wc pencil try applying it to a scrap paper or frosted plastic, then picking it up on your wet brush like paint.

It doesn't seem terribly common here either, I didn't know a thing about it when I bought it but seeing that it was made by Clairefontaine I thought it was worth trying. I'm not sure that it's that I'm applying the pencil directly to the paper affecting my blend, more my ability to judge the correct amount of water and how I apply it, because I have had the same issue with regular watercolour paint as well.

@@brusheswithbec It very well may be the paper then. I've had that issue with various papers in coloring books. The pigment just won't move on it wet or dry. I don't know if you have access to it there but Strathmore makes a 500 series vellum finish mixed media.. it's lightweight at 90# but 100% cotton and does beautifully with both pencil and watercolor. I've seen it sold in pads but it's also the paper in their Visual Journals. It's a favorite, I use a ton of it for swatches, coloring pages, etc. It does not come in colors though it's easy enough to tint prior to additional work, it glazes really well. Bockingford makes colored watercolor papers.. they are not my personal favorite because they lift very easily but a lot of people like them, if I remember correctly they come in 5 colors. It's a pulp paper topped with wool and is lower cost. The white is in all three textures but from what I have seen the colored is only CP. Hahnnemuhle also has toned watercolor paper, but I've never tried it. I believe theirs is beige or grey. Comes in sheets, pads, and journals.

This seems like a good technique if you have fatigue in your hands from other work but still itching to create something. Getting a lot of base down quickly without too much strain. Lovely little hopping mouse! Thanks for the video. :)

Yes absolutely, good for my hands for that reason.

very sweet little mouse. I've seen watercolor pencil followed by regular colored pencil using intense detail (Art by Law) as well as lightly as you have done; both look good, just different styles. I don't think i'd try the detailed method on this paper-too light weight, but it looked great as you did it.

Thank you kindly, yes I'm still trying to work out what I prefer. I love highly detailed works but I also like doing less detailed works too. Finding a balance can be difficult but is enjoyable with mixed mediums like this.

I always see this paper at dollar stores so I would never have even tried it. Because what good art paper is sold at dollar stores? 🤔
The detail you were able to achieve surprised me, but I don't see this paper holding up to my abuse lmao. It's got a nice, neutral gray tone though.

That surprises me because it was a mid-range price for me. Yes it is a decent paper. Not my first choice but still nice, comes in a variety of colours too. 😀
