    Not only is he a good teacher, he lets us know he is not perfect. The way to get better is to try different things and practice, practice, practice. Thanks for being real.

    Thank you for the pin stopper tip!
    The amount of times I’ve cut clean through the bottom of my button holes makes me hang my head in shame!

      It seems we learn our lessons the hard way. I too have cut too far :)

    Oh that was absolutely exactly what I needed! Because I don’t have a very new machine and I needed to make a blouse with buttons!

      Oh nice. May your blouse turn out as you desire!

    I really appreciate your videos! When I make buttonholes I like to use “Frey Check” liquid on the buttonhole before I cut it open… this reduces the amount of wild threads. I also like using a small wood block and a chisel to cut the buttonholes… they are very sharp and very precise.

    bless you for this! I didn't want to get a presser foot attachment for buttons and I had a hunch I could get around by doing something like this but this really helped nail down the details and avoid unnecessary mistakes!!!💛💛 quick and to the point, love it!!!

    Another insightful video. Great job. Always nice to know how to make a buttonhole manually. Also, when I cut the buttonhole open, I squirt a few drops of liquid 'Fray check' on it to prevent unraveling of the cut stitches.

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh that's a great additional tip and I just learned something new myself! I will follow-up on this fray check you talk about.

    But won't the fabric fray after cutting it? I find the loose threads drive me crazy, depending on the fabric, which is why I cut then sew

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it's good practise to snip the loose threads.

    Mine zig zags but doesn't stay close enough together to look like a button hole

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you adjust the stitch length? That might help solve the problem.

    How i can set bernina 807 sewing machine for the button holes

  • @debrariley2057
    @debrariley2057 ปีที่แล้ว

    How about a demo/ tutorial on an inseam button hole on a shirt or coat. A lost art for button holes.! This was once a classic blouse/shirt button hole, never see them anymore and most modern sewers do not even know they were once a technique. ,

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Count me as one of those modern folks who had no clue this was a thing, but having done quick Google, I'm intrigued! I want to try this.

      @@CorneliusQuiring Thank you and trust you are my advisor even with me back in design school. I trust your info and would like to ask if the 3a/3b/3c buttonhole foot can be used with any other low shank machine apart from the Bernina? thx in advance

      @@CorneliusQuiring realistically older machines are built to last literally 100+ years. these newer builds got plastic parts and computerised ones get outdated real quick
