He is absolute pure class. Watching him work with the Beatles was truly creative genius and a fine ear. He was so tuned in to what he was listening to that he seemed uninterested, yet he was completely immersed that he was stoic. Not enough has been said about him when he has worked with these magnificent musical artists. Fabulous man...cannot be replaced.
George Martin asked the young Beatles if there was something they didn't like, or had concerns about, and George Harrison replied: "Well, there's your tie, for starters." And thus the romance began ... RIP to both of them.
Sir George Martin CBE was an enormous part of the Success of The Beatles. Not only did he compose, arrange and write for the accompanying musicians parts, but he also played on many of the Beatles songs.....primarily the piano.
Dini Petty, I have never seen you before, but you were/are the cutest thing! I'm in Virginia, USA, which explains why you are unknown to me, but WOW. I am so impressed with the way you handled this interview with the great, Sir George Martin. You're a real pro and a natural hostess!! Am sorry I missed you all these years. God bless you dear.
And that is why he was honored by Her Royal Majesty The Queen. Sir George Henry Martin CBE (3 January 1926 - 8 March 2016) .Record producer, arranger, composer, conductor, and musician. He and The Beatles changed popular music COMPLETELY. Not that there were no other exceptional artists, arrangers and producers, but none who took popular music off at an unpredictable tangent, and in doing so dominated the entire industry, and the entire future of the entire industry.
Absolutely amazing interview... so humble about his genius.... never exposed the dirt,,,yet he dealt with it to make epic songs.... I tip my hat and wonder if there's anyone that can fill his shoes?? So far,,,No!!!!
George Martin said early on he could not get what the early Beatles were doing. To me, I got it at 7 and 1/2 years of age in 1964, Lucky His ears were not our ears. Sunday night in 1964, still lives on forever in the US. Rock On! No grease in hair at school the next Monday morning and Yeah, Yeah, Yeah... drum, guitar sound way different from Elvis. US kids got it.
Yes I agree, so many interviewers ask mundane and sometime stupid questions ( particularly when interviewing Beatles) this is in a different class for mainstream TV
Excellent interview. May I have your permission to cross-post to my Channel? There are a few Beatles documentaries there, as well as other classical music uploads.
Have to remember that “Candle in the Wind” was originally written and recorded as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe. So, changing the words to suit the occasion should have been of little significance. All the people associated with the recording were very familiar with the original recording because it was popular. As far as his celebrity Beatles album; who the hell wants to hear any of it? You can’t come close to The Beatles so why bother?
I'm with you on the "classy guy" comment, but I think I disagree about her. Her voice is a bit irritating, but she asks unusual questions and elicits information that helps us to understand more about Martin himself, rather than the same old Beatles stories once again. I've seen a dozen or more interviews of Martin, but who knew he played the oboe and gave it up because he got nervous? Or that he'd worked with Ella Fitzgerald? The story of what went into producing Candle In The Wind was fascinating. And Martin seems to like her and open up enough to float silly jokes, like the one about Cinderella tennis. I'd credit her with a good and very interesting interview.
Yes, that did show her ignorance for a moment there. I would say that honour more fittingly goes to Les Paul, and maybe not even to him but to some boffin in a back room somewhere. Stick to the facts lady - with someone like George Martin there is absolutely no need to exaggerate an already extraordinary life.
Wtf are you talkking about. Don't insult the man with this Carpenter. With the Beatles he gave the world something so important and everlasting that your Carpenter hero in the book of morons never can compete with. John was right when he said they are more famous then this guy from lies telling pulp fiction. So f off and leave people alone with your BS.
@@danielwmwolf Wow you're very angry. That carpenter has you call him change the course of history. I could easily live without ever hearing the Beatles again. But let me ask you, will you live beyond death ? Jesus is the resurrection and the life! George and John are yesterday's news.
Great Interview but, you do know why he (William Shepherd) doesn't know where the song came from. Because he didn't wright that one. Paul McCartney wrote in 1964 (the real Paul) wrote Yesterday and recorded it in !965. You asked the wrong guy George.
Fascinating man, could listen to him all day.
Absolutely.
a tip : watch series on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.

The man who met and recognized the potential that would become the greatest band in music history.
Not at first; then he got to know them.
George Martin asked the young Beatles if there was something they didn't like, or had concerns about, and George Harrison replied: "Well, there's your tie, for starters." And thus the romance began ... RIP to both of them.
Initially he took a chance on them because he liked them as people.

He"s a wonderful communicator, certainly a class act.

Such an elegant speaker and a great interview! However, George reminds me so much of Clint Eastwood, am I the only one?
Same type, they are both handsome man

What a beatiful man!!!
Whow great this man was a pure genuise
Excellent. Rare for me not to feel like screaming at the interviewer for asking inane questions and interrupting.
George is correct about push-bikes that he will keep fit by moving body and muscles healthy body healthy mind good for him
Class act all the way.
Dini Petty. I had no idea when we watched that show when it was on how good she was at interviewing. She's damned good. Brilliant interviews from her.
I was just thinking the exact same thing, I really enjoyed it. It sounds conversational without being overly cordial or ingratiating.
👍😂‼️❤️ -🇺🇸

Sorry Les Paul invented 8 track recording
Dini was kind of hot then.
George Martin is Merlin reincarnate
7:35 "...princess Diana was killed...."???
She gives silly interview. He is a Beatles architect.
She gives a terrible interview. He is so gracious with her. Classy guy.

"He invented 8 track recording"... NOT!

I hope George received the gospel of JESUS before he passed.
