I always love how in the edit you'll cut in the middle of a thought to being in a completely different area but still remember how to finish the sentence you were on.
@@iamchriswick I doubt it. No sense in writing a script for an activity as you're doing it. I think he's just made videos in this style for a very long time and has developed a skill for it.
*Tip for dovetail router bits:* They're often a bit fragile because of the forces of the wide cutting edge versus the thinner neck, so do your first pass(es) with a straight bit to hog out material from the centre of the channel, then a second round with the dovetail bit to finish the sides. The bit is less likely to snap, AND the cutting edge will stay sharp much longer 😉
Also, it helps the process feel smoother. Going full hog with the dovetail bit right off the bat will make the router have to work extra hard and as a result you also have to hold it more strongly to stay the course. You'll reduce the risk of the piece jerking to the side, rocking (and hence lifting it off the bit) and other mishaps. As with every other cut you'll want your finishing cut to remove as little material as reasonably possible. You'll also get a smoother surface with minimal chipping this way.
Very valid tip, and that goes for everything on the router, really. Even if it is totally capable of taking off everything in a single pass, doesnt mean you should.
@@iamuzairahmad Do you think that for _every_ couple you see doing projects together? I think it would be extremely weird if _all_ the work on every house/apartment should be done by just one of the people, in case they're not gonna stick together.
@@PikkaBird usually the couples I see are not TH-camrs doing a whole apartment renovation on their own (they renovate by paid workers). @@PikkaBird In our culture, if man and woman (always husband or wife) contribute something towards house, we are like "ah right, he/she is part of the family, if they are not gonna do it and who else?" but in this case, they are still gf-bf not even fiancé so... if you get my point. That Blum locking drawer-shelf - I actually used in a drawer for a projector (ultra short throw type). It always pulls out to the same place and stays locked - never need to calibrate the focus :) and when not in use - I can hide it.
It would have been really cool to have the laundry basket slide between the bedroom and the bathroom, but since the bathroom's already built and sealed that would be more work than necessary. But I'm loving all the storage solutions!
I love how your made the place your own with smart solutions and colours - scandi homes can be so white, beige, and grey so I really appreciate the the green, yellow and wood tones throughout your home. I'm more of a 1910s - 1930s simple but vintage girly so not really my style but love how you guys have worked with the space you have!
Regarding the broken bit in the beginning, I've always used as cheap a bit as I can get away with, so to counter that tendency to overload it, I first make a couple of measured passes on the tablesaw and hog out a good bit of the material that way first. The kerfs left by the blade mean the router bit has a lot less work to do, refining the profile of the cut instead of forcing its way through all that material. Plus, it leaves channels in the wood for the dust to go and not heat up around the bit, potentially softening the metal. AND it keeps the bit going in a straight line a lot easier, following the path of least resistance left by the saw blade.
Living in a small apartment, I know the struggles of storage far too well. Your apartment looks like a dream, so good that it makes me want to take up woodworking! :)
I love the fold down clothing racks! You’re exactly right, if it were just rods up there you’d hardly use it considering the pain it’d be to have to find a step stool to reach. I could see that function being a great option for a lot of ppl. Very nice, coming along great!
Love all the bespoke furniture. Especially the nightstand at the window is perfect. The only thing I don't like is the 3D printed handles. Like the shape and design of them, but the printing makes it look cheap. Those but in metal or wood would be cool.
cool! I have to remember to get those moving thingy for hanging shirts and coats when we plan for new furniture. And I love those light on the bed wall, nice little details. Thanks for video :)
It's crazy to see how much preparation goes into your projects. Everything is always very thought off. The way you think ahead of time is absolutely amazing. Keep up the good work! Would love to see a link to the Blum locking slide and the headrest lights?
Great video! Cabinetry projects take so much extra labor per minute of content and you did a great job showing the work in creative edits while keeping a good pace and not getting bogged down in the details - Kudos! I love the use of space with the bedside cubby and locking table too :)
An IKEA Symfonisk speaker likes to receive a manual reboot or even reset every once in a while. You'll love to climb and disassemble to get to it I'm sure!

Fixing the gap was a happy mistake not only did you fill in the gap but it also made it stronger and if you happen to put heaver or extra weighted things in it. So that was a happy mistake!
I’m wondering whether you are DIYing the furniture to get it cheeper than let’s say IKEA or is it more expensive but utilizes the entire space more effociently
Wow. 2 years? I'm currently building an entire house, 768 sq ft I technically started this month and I'll be done in 2 months. Granted nothing is custom build and it's the bare minimum standard.
