Hope you feel better soon, Brad! Thank you for the video 🙂
You a the champion, Brad. I stay in bed when I get sick.
No choice when you're self employed, mate.
Pay the bills that month or close the doors for good.
That was interesting to see that the hum balance resistor values were best at 100R / 220R in this instance . Another champion informative video . Cheers
Yeah, they can often be optimal when imbalanced somewhat.
A good little trick to make your amps quieter than the competition.
You’re a champion. Feel better soon.
Excellent job there…now you be a champion and take it easy so you can get over that funk you have. See you on the next one mate.
Get well soon, Brad. Thanks for the videos.
Get better, Brad. Thanks for another great one.
There was a limited run of UK manufactured hand wired 60th anniversary VOX AC15HW60 (based on JMI 1960 AC-15/4), and VOX AC30HW60 (based on JMI 1964 AC-30/6 Top Boost) amps launched in 2017. They have long since sold out but occasionally appear on the second hand market and are well worth checking out.
I hope to get my hands on one of them one day, along with the rare handwired Orange units.
Rarely seen an amp I can't improve, but serviceable construction methods certainly help!
This sounds great when you demo it at the end.
Those amps sure do cut a great sound. Great job and get well soon.
Great work! Get well and feel better soon!
Brad, you are my hero.
Does that mean I get to wear my underwear outside my pants now?
Oh wait, that's "superhero", my bad.
I'm doing it anyway.
Nice job Brad. This is one of those "lots of little things add up to a pretty big job" scenario. I see an AC30 in your future or maybe build one! :) I've owned a modded CC2 for many years and it just inspires you to play better. Get well mate, you push yourself pretty hard.
Yeah, took a few bites to quieten it down, but now it's whisper quiet.
nice work Brad!
Thanks for the hum dinger trick Brad. Get yourself some cough lollies. Hope you feel better soon.
Will do, mate! Thank you!
What a trooper! Get as much rest as you can and thanks for the vid! I agree on the vibrato, it should be like BBQ: low and slow.
I'd like to go way slower, but will get the customer to try it out first.
Nothing like a lovely slow, swampy trem!
Nice work! Get well!
How did you cut those traces so cleanly? Well done sir!
So that's where John and George went? In the bottom of a Vox cabinet?
Another great repair 👊😎
Thanks for watchin' yet again, mate!
Take care mate. Thanks
Nice work, as always.
Good to see you over here, buddy!
Long time lurker 😂
Love a good lurk.
Didn’t understand any of it (electronics) but I was amazed! Very enjoyable..from a dumb guitar player!
cheers
Nice work
Nice work there. Can't help but wonder who "b/wired sarah" was?
Hey super cool video, what is the value of resistors on 19:27? :)
What a right bodge on the valve sockets it looks like a 5 year old did them. I know they were cost saving but just open the door you cant solder through the fecking letter box. 🤣🤣
Interesting rework 2x👍
G'day Brad,
Yeah... I don't think an animation with voiceover will help. You might be better off with subtitles, like they use on TV's fruit channels. 😁
Anyway, thanks for another great video. You take it easy, & get well soon.
Andrew
BTW, I hope you don't have 1 of those friggen "don't-make-me-laugh" type flu.
Not having worked on any Vox amps I didn't realize they run the speakers in *series*, for a presumed 16 ohm load here. Is that normal for Vox amps with 2 speakers? ( edited because I had written parallel when I meant to write series, duh; a facepalm moment!)
No, it's in serial, just a neatly twisted pair. 16 Ohm output (there is a green wire soldered to a terminal with no connection on the PCB, that's the 8 Ohm tap if required.) 2 x 8 Ohm greenbacks in series.
@@BradsGuitarGarage , I meant to write series. Silly me!
Yeah both my vintage ac30's are series 8ohm speakers for 16ohm
I've been meaning to check out the recent developments @YeatzeeGuitar I'll check em out over the weekend and say g'day.
@@BradsGuitarGarage get some rest, they're not going anywhere
Brad, compared to most of the amps we hear you play through, this one seems to make you rethink what, and how, you're going to play. Or is it because of the flu? 🤔😉
A bit of everything to be honest, mate.
Haven't been in the best state of mind with the flu and work stress and everything, so maybe that's it.
I plan to control the intake of work a bit more stringently in the new year and hope to work on my playing more, so hopefully it gets tighter, more accurate and versatile.
I still don't want to be a show-off. I want to show real-world use scenarios which 90% of the time is rhythm playing.
Good observation. Just knocked through a bunch of Marshall repairs, all sound as they should. Plug into my AC30 and it craps over every one of them for beautiful clean tone / slight breakup that inspires music played with feel and imagination. The sign of a good amp -> you aren't playing the same $hit but are inspired exploring new possibilities.
@@BradsGuitarGarage , well, you, and the amp, sounded quite good together ---- and you didn't go all "metal" on it! 👏👍
@@BradsGuitarGarage , PS, get some sleep, and hope you feel better real soon!
@@goodun2974 Thanks mate.
PS, a lot of what I play is to try and trigger a fault or weird performance, like testing for intermodulation distortion around 27:35
i hope you health improves
Thanks mate, starting to get better, no biggie.
Get better Brad!
Thanks mate. Mahalo!
Does your clone also have the flu? Let him do the video.
So you take the width and girth anytime you can get it???😂😂
Who wouldn't?
hope you're charging for the extra phlegm
No, that's free of charge, mate.
Wow, that is utter garbage...by Marshall!?! Does everyone build defective poorly engineered and executed trash anymore!?
