I see Nelson as someone who wanted to be a Tank driver again. It seems like he enjoyed that livelihood and wanted to go back in time and relive the gold ol’ days.
Basically the film 'The Wreslter' starring Mickey Rourke, except not a Wrestler
0:04 “Stolen Tank Rampage”
8:43 “Yama-Ichi War”
19:35 “Ned Kelly: The Armored Criminal”
23:27 “History of the Yakuza”
33:05 “Britain’s Most Violent Prisoner”
42:00 “15 Improvised Weapons Inmates Built in Prison”
53:51 “FBI Hostage Rescue Team”
1:03:13 “SWAT Police Tactical Unit”
1:15:21 “Shooting Positions”

Why haven’t you done the story of Killdozer yet?? It fits perfectly in this category
@@extantfellow46 luckly no one died from that event.
@@extantfellow46yeah, but popo medic made a video
@@mikeval1525What are you talking about? There was one death: the driver.
@@NebulaHasADigBick A video that is probably demonetized.

My favourite history channel combined with my favourite game. I’m complete.
Ah yes…. Everyone gotta make something GTA
Capitalist capitalize capitalism.
(Apparently just saying capitalism makes people wery wery mad)
have you never been to Florida?
Literally a server 24/7
@@SplfFfFybeat me to it lol
@@SplfFfFyYou’re participating in capitalism by merely using this platform, go bother your local coffee coop that “humanely” sourced their sumatran beans.
@@shatterscape what? Why are you mad? I just said capitalism in three different variations 😂 I live in America, which is a capitalist based country lol. I support capitalism 100%. Gotta feed your family somehow. I don’t know why you’re mad 😂
Most normal day in San Diego:
nothing really goes on in san diego tbh compared to lets say all of florida lol
More like Florida.
@mdecor21 Yeah, I know. I grew up down in San Diego. Nothing really happens there usually. When this happen, I was about 10 years old.
It's not hard to believe that he was able to steal that tank. It's amazing how far confidence will take you. If you look like you belong somewhere its in human nature not to interfere Especially if you have a little bit of know how to go along with your confidence like the man who stole that tank did being a former operator.
A clipboard with a decently looking checklist can get you in a lot of places
The thumbnail is amazing!
Indeed
Love it myself
Pure art.
This Vr Gta looks great
GTA 6 trailer is looking good
Lmao my guy just casually stole the tank 🤣
Ah,thank you Simple History for mentioning the tank rampage and for mentioning real-life GTA moments. In GTA 5 it was insanely fun rampaging with the Rhino tank and slaughtering policemen left and right.
GTA 6 is coming
This is a fucking insane comment 😂
I mean you could done a simple history about the 80s in Miami with the cocaine traffic
The 3rd one was like rogue iron man from the 19th century
The thing that still gets me is the guy was driving backwards the whole time. And he was drunk!
The turret was actually reversed, it was stowed like that. It’s the only mistake that Simple History made in the tank rampage video: incorrect turret facing.
Seeing a tank rampage would certainly be interesting
@@shawnstafford7809
If you are in it’s path than it’s definitely not fun, although seeing a tank casually drive by being chased by the police? Certainly an interesting start to your day.
I'd be more worried about it having shells.
I was a junior in high school when it happened. I remember watching it on every channel on the TV like it was yesterday. VERY ACCURATE description of what happened.
@@devinjanosov
It was on most news channels? Damn
It is in fact true that the police department was based on a person's love for the GTA concept
Probably a better video structure if the Yakuza break down came before the Yakuza incident segment. And we all scratched our heads at that twenty seconds police ambiance at 1:15:00
“911 what’s your emergency?”
“Someone stole a vehicle”
“What was it?”
*“a tank”*
Next time when I go to steal a tank I'll make sure it has the latest fire-control system, laser rangefinder, battlefield management software, upgraded armor and is fully loaded with fuel, ammunition as well as weeks' worth of food and water rations. The video was very informative.
Have fun with that
don't forget a hard to externally pry open hatch
Those civillians out of control while firing an MP-40 was hillarious
GTA VI trailer comes out
Simple History: Our time has come
Now do real life battlefield or call of duty moments
GTA content?
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
I remember the stolen tank in San Diego! I was rooting for him all the way. To this day, Shawn Timothy is a hero in my heart.
Ok
What about the West Hollywood robbery in 97 ? A bank robbery while wearing heavy ballistic armour, it directly inspired one of the robberies in GTA V.
The first part of this video is still possible on most bases today. Might need a bolt cutter for the vehicles that have the wheels chained and locked, but otherwise you're good. They keep the bolt cutters secured very well so you're unlikely to find one laying around the armory grounds
Your mother's mouth isn't secure
I’ve already heard some of these
Real life Trevor Philips but seriously his Shawn’s story is very sad :(
Eh, it makes more sense if shawn was a pilot
funny how much sway a single game trailer has on the rest of youtube.
TH-cam channels eying the trailer view count 👀
Ready to hypes for GTA VI?
Please make a video about the battle of Crete and yugoslavia
GTA 4?, 5, 6?????
EDIT: nvm GTA 6 will never come out
The GTA 6 teaser trailer just got released and is scheduled to be out in 2025
Can you put on the vibe? It’s such good music
I love the way it took until the third raggedy tank for this farce to even begin! The guy had to try two times to find a battle ready vehicle and wasn't discovered, brutal 🤣🤣🤦♂️
*(LET'S RIDE!!!!!!!)*
i did not expect a gta content in this channel
These people are perhaps the most gangster to do things that are Grand Theft Auto
No "Isosceles Stance"?!?
Hey, let’s go bowling!
Ned Kelly is the Australian person in rd2 online’s mission “Kill them , each and every one”
Good timing. Yesterday the release of the first GTA VI Trailer
I was watching in this trailer
Can you do a video about the battle at river Drava
Swat teams, i don't understand why they use military camo. They should have ranger green, or OD Green color bdu pants, bdu top, and helmet. With coyote brown, or brown color plate carrier, and web gear. Along with brown in color military boots.
I just can't help but imagine being the poor 991 operator or whomever it was that got this call,
"Hey uh.. *Clears throat* I'm a guard at the local military base and uh.. Well.. we kinda had one of our tanks stolen.. It's heading into town, better get on that"
I first heard about the yakuza when I learned about the video game Police 911 on Wikipedia. I used to play that game. The yakuza gang in the game is called the Go-kudokai, they operated in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district & LA’s Little Tokyo area.
I remember one of the Yakuza gangs would basically have control over Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling, and the members would be in a section of the crowd and there was a bunch of empty seats around them because people feared them
Nice thumbnail Simple history team!
I totally understand why Nelson did what he did. Probably had a couple screws loose, and got poked too many times. People are always shocked at the reactions but you push a man to his limits, he's liable to lash out.
23:03 His last words were: “It is what is it”
Everyone about that GTA until Trevor pulls up in a dress👀
Should have brought in another tank to show who's boss
Polands SWAT is called GROM I believe
If Michael De Santa is watching this video.
27:20 that doesn't seem like an initiation...
Seems to me like the start of a good party!
The armed guard never thought to you know... use the other tanks? Lol
What about the mechanic who stole a a-4 skyhawk for a joyride?
ah yes, the bolt action M107
well.. bolt action if your ammo is severely underpressured
Wouldn’t Nelson be designated as a terrorist from his dangerous destructive antics?
Only if he had done so to make a political statement or serve some other political end. I think he was just drunk and high on meth.
I heard terrorists are defined as organization based and they have a political purpose to attack
Hmmmmm yes, the first GTA moment involves a man from Utah, my home state
These videos put a big middle finger up to infographics.
Lol what ???
What are you on about?
Two mostly different channel aims.
these guys in the replies dont know how to take a joke lmao
@@DarkKatzy013 what do you mean what lol???
Shawn Nelson stole that tank from the national guard armory between the high school I graduated from, Stephen Watts Kearney HS, and the community college where my high school graduation ceremony was held, Mesa College. I was watching tv that summer day in 1995 when footage of the tank pursuit came on during a news cast. As the reporters described what had happened I immediately knew where the incident had started. The armory is on Armstrong Street and Mesa College Drive.
no killdozer in this vid is crazy
All we had to do was follow the damn train!
I always watch his videos at 3am
“Shawn Nelson is an innocent man!”
Song from Gigi I believe oh yes I remember it well
The HRT sounds a lot like STARS from resident evil
Simple History video based on GTA before GTA 6.
Ah yes a certified GTA moment.
DAYUM CRIME WAS CRAZY IN THE 1980-1990
Most violent prisoner in Britain obviously came from Luton
the only one that has ever come to my mind is always Killdozer
36:25 "After 69 days of freedom, he was back in custody convicted of armed robbery," Nice
I guess that means that a prisoner could theoretically make either the hidden blade or hook blade from assassins creed.
25 deaths in over 200 shootings? Bro 25 deaths in 1 shooting is a regular out here lmao
Doing barret dirty. Not accuracy built as anti material semi auto update of m82.
With these 5 stances becoming the ultimate warrior of the 80s
Fun fact, almost all the clips from the GTA6 trailer were based off real events.

I think the question on everyone’s minds is DID THEY GIVE HIM THE BLOWUP DOLL?
gta making money for someone who isnt hacking well done simple history
San diego baby
It only takes a bolt cutter to get inside of a tank? Wow
Our great great great great great great grandparents lived during the rd2 era but we are living in the gta era.

@@becky2235He's saying our ancestors lived during the wild west days when Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place and we're currently living in the time period Grand Theft Auto takes place.
@@visassess8607 more than just gta
Woulda been easier to take the tank when there wasn’t guard units on duty; and he might have got away with it if he wasn’t being a tool; rampaging!
This guy is no Marvin with a komatsu.
No military vehicle, besides things like skid steer bobcats, needs keys or codes.
how does one man be the definition of 'him'
in a negative way
Polish American volunteers in France, The Blue Army. Please
My friends and their dad had a phrase for this exact thing: a whackily violent or over the top crimespree is "Playing GTA in real life".
No such thing as "Squandering money on firearms".
Just Monday in Los Angeles:
22:57 You need to leave accent's alone or give your lines to somebody else, absolutely shocking!😂😂
1 hour ago to 17 hours ago 😢
The first story is just upsetting. It's a man who had a few misfortunes mixed with a system that puts you in debt and gives you no help to get back up on your feet.
Simple history can you do a video on the Army soldier that was awarded the Congressional Medal Honor and his video of him receiving the award was used in Forrest Gump. They superimposed Tom Hanks over him. The guy has a pretty interesting story. It's not Roy Benavides' level of badassery but close.
Killdozer in question:
Do the hunger strike
