I had some great moments watching this with my father. Waking up at 6 or 7am and making breakfast. I must have only been about 11 or 12 and the excitement of each of these games shared with him will always live deep in my memory. Great times :)
Both Ireland and England had really good tournaments. Never forget Robbie Keanes great goal against Germany, Beckhams penalty against Argentina. Great memories.
great video tadhg, almost brings a tear to my eye watchin it all again. i remember the spanish saying after the game that we deserved to beat them. ive never been so gutted in all my life. roll on south africa, they wont know whats hit them!!!!!
I'm proad Ireland qualified for Euro 2012. I am typically a us fan, but Ireland is definately one of my favorate teams. Go Green or Go Home! Greetings from America!
The Irish national team always give 100% and they are a credit to this country. Robbie Keane has been and still is a great ambassador for the Irish game.
i was in barcode indoor tennis courts with about two-three thousand irish fans watchin it on big big screens in fairview. fuck me what an amazing time i will never ever forget.
we were awesome right through the qualifiers to, fair play to mc carthy. roll on the next generation i hope theres more WC adventures down the line. After '90, '94 and '02 the whole country was on the piss, for at least 3 months after the tournament ended, still celebrating....
I am from Ireland. I live in USA now. I think you Americans were the original ones to call it soccer., so not to confuse it with American football. Soccer is merely a shortened word, derived from asSOCiation football. None Americans only have started to us the word because there media has swamped the english speaking world and more.
wow, i'm an ireland fan now! i wish they were in the EURO tourney...didn't they have the most goals in qualifying or something? or they had the top goal scorer on their team?
we wer da only 2nd team to score against germany in the 2002 world cup, brazil scored against germany in the final.we mustve been good to do that!!!! we could have won da world cup dat yeat if it hadnt been for all dat trouble with mick mc carthy and roy keane .......we wer nothing without him!!!!(roy keane dat is)
now look this ireland team have alot of potential we bet the paraguains 2-1 when the world cup champions bearly scraped by were a gd side with a couple of good players and we have the most consistent keeper in the woprld we have an easy enough group in the euros and we should qualify so fuckin com on the irish!!!!!
@dadubs93 I honestly didn't know what you meant, that's why I asked! But I disagree with you. Jason McAteer, Mattie Holland, alongside your list above, were all terrific performers during the qualifying campaign. Steve FInnan too. We had an excellent team, who played good football also. I would love to see Mick back in charge some day!
As a irish fan i must say we dont have that good of a team. But i also must say when we qualify for the world cup we are fukin class. The team just have belief. The players make the irish fans proud unlike the best team on paper the English who are fukin shocking haha.Bring on euro 2012 Ireland for the final????
Yes that...isn't that the most popular sport in Ireland and not soccer....and one more question do you guys call it soccer or football like the British do ??
@dadubs93 Kevin Kilbane has played well over 100 times for the Republic of Ireland. Every time he put on the green shirt he played with pride, passion and always gave 100%. If everyone's attitude was like Kevin Kilbane's, we would be in every major tournament. Roy Keane on the other hand didn't bother his arse playing "meaningless friendlies". Obviously the guy is too good for the green. Kevin Kilbane > Roy Keane any day. (Not in ability, solely as a person and for attitude.)
@CottonEyedJoe1803 You really are clueless. Ian Harte was top scorer in our qualifying campaign. He had never missed a spot kick in his Irish career. Why the hell would Keane have taken the first one? Harte was our penalty taker .As for "that plank" McCarthy, he was the best manager we have ever had. We played good football under him and I look forward to the day he takes the hotseat again. Hindsight is a great thing, but don't use it to spout pure and utter nonsense.
I disagree that all Irish say football is automatically Gaelic football. Some call soccer- football, just as the same person would call Gaelic football simply Gaelic. Depends where on the island you live in suppose. I bet you do not say rugby football. You shorten it to simply- rugby. right??
So that what Soccer stands for WOW..well my parents are immigrants and they still call it football....But great explanation Thank you ....u should go Edit some thing in Wikipedia lol
@Stoned1nDublin listen... you and your "BHOYS" can have celtic and the spl... but don't get confused as this clip poster did and decicde that the people who support their country ie the rep of ireland football team automatically support celtic. yeah ther may be some who do but not every1 does...... cushy=deadly.. but i was being sarcastic... all the best now
@kg02170 robbed?? they couldn't even score against Montenegro at home, they play awful football.France outplayed ireland in croker and they put it up to france in paris by hooofing it long..same french team that the scots beat home and away and scraped past san marino....englands c/d team dont deserve to be there
@Stoned1nDublin yeah typical celtic supporter... BOYS in green support Ireland... BHOYS support celtic, most irish supporters couldn't give a bollix what bleedin celtic do and don't support them.. PS cushy name
great vid great memories.. should have beaten spain.we destroyed them..duff and keane were amazing that day..imagine if we had have had roy there with us.we would have been even better and toped our group and with a bit of luck could have went very very far in that world cup..its such a pity..great vid tho
no that was nothern ireland. this is the republic of ireland.david healy scored 12 goals or something in qualifiers..prob a bit less mabee 9 or something.
I had some great moments watching this with my father. Waking up at 6 or 7am and making breakfast. I must have only been about 11 or 12 and the excitement of each of these games shared with him will always live deep in my memory. Great times :)
We were also one of only three teams not to lose a match in normal time in the 2002 WC. Spain and Brazil were the other two.
