I heard this several times before realizing the perfection of these titles. Not a universal perfection which would impose itself on everything else, no, but a small personal perfection, a small inner cosmos which means that if you change a single note, cut one idea from the whole, the songs would be found irremediably impoverished, because everything is in its right place. The right notes and ideas come at the right time. Nothing are missing and nothing are superfluous !

Totally agree, but I still enjoy the recording with John Holloway, and have great fondness for the pioneering recording by the sweet- but very large-toned Susanne Lautenbacher.
That was fantastic, fabulous share, such amazing soul food. I am new really to this type of music. I recently bought an older model car to travel to work in, I could only pick up a radio station that played classical music and so the journey began this week listening to this music. I am falling in love with ancient music 🥰
The method of development of these works is a sort of continuous variation in slow, fast, slow, fast, etc. style. Quite common for the period they were written.
A very convincing version of these sonatas, which are probably the most known work by Biber, who played an important role in the development of instrumental music in Germany.
I always wonder why people leave the ''von'' out? It is an intregal part of the name. If ones name is McNamara, one does not leave the Mc out is it. Namara?? Heinrich Ignatz Franz von Biber...........
You are so right! Same as with Beethoven, his name is Van Beethoven (not even Von, as you would expect from someone being born in Germany), and I don't know why people leave this out.
Germany does not like nobility, because today it is no longer allowed to make differences between people, otherwise you are a Nazi and racist! Greetings from Germany.
Zu wild, ohne liebe und Zärtlichkeit...man vergisst worun die ganze Geschichte geht...wenn man zu viel moderne Geige spielt und dann Barockgeige in der hand nimmt passiert das!
Check out other versions. This is good, but my favorites are Letzbor (1996) and Manze (2004). Letzbor´s version is powerful and rough, while Manze´s is spiritual and meditative.
Biber himself was devout. There weren't many atheists in those days. Hobbes might have been one, but he kept quiet about it. Why? If the church was so powerful, how did it get powerful? Because people believed.
I have listened to this countless times...as soon as I hear the first note, my spirit is lifted to a higher place.
Londonfogey same here! I keep listening

the universal perfection is what the sonatas are about. God. and Maria.

It moves one to Paradise and devout worship...
Thanks..many thanks
These sonatas for violin in scordatura are for sure the masterwork of Heinrich von Biber. The virtuosity of Reinhard GOEBEL is very pure.
thank you for 'Scordatura" now i know (more) again :) sounds beautiful

¡Sublime joyita sonora! Gracias por mostrarla al mundo,
THANK U BIBER - WHERE EVER YOUR GTEAT SPIRIT CAN GET MY ENJOYMENT
merveilleuse sonate, très virtuose par Reinhard GOEBEL

Incredible!
Heinrich Biber was the violins first real champion..
He wrote music that was lhrical and ornate but never boring
Fabulously wonderful !!!
No words. Very nice performance.
Спасибо!

amazing, it's straordinary to see how the better energies of many people in the past had been devoted to honoured Our Lady: we need to learn
Admirables la Sonatas 1 y 2 de Archiv. Gracias.
tres belle interprétation- interpretación muy buena
The best performance of this great composition...
Nope. It is brilliant but I prefer Letzbor 1996 and Manze 2004.
Nope. Say it's your favourite and I'm on board. It's great! But in music "best" is purely subjective.

Biber was one of the masters of music with a sensibility both Baroque and modern. He was a musical genius. His ancestor Justin not so much.
My bad. I meant Heinrich's descendent.
@@barrymalkin9679 😂 I won't dump on JB, just don't care to listen to him is all. For those who like it, chacun a son gout!
More or less the epitome of Baroque drama & beauty.
Outstanding

Heinrich Ignatz Franz von Biber...........
It became an integral part of his name after he was ennobled in 1690, late in his life.
Does it matter when? Just add the von and get on with life.

As you can see at 1:29, Biber didn't sign with von, not in Latin at any rate. So Biber it is.
2:10 start the best part
thank you...:)
THANK YOU!!!.....
cool stuff :)
sometimes referring back to the title gives us clues to the meaning of the work's entirety,

Transcends Christianity
Only for those steadfast in their rejection of Christ.
@Michael Kip, and all Muslims will be ?! Well, then "nice" greetings from the deepest Middle Ages ...
Forget about Christian focus, musicians had to pretend to have a Christian outlook in those days to be played at all!
Amen!
Right. There's no possible way they could have had an altruistic dedication to their Faith. They must have been secretly atheists, because you say so.

There's no point listening to it without some background knowledge, it's just a quarter of the whole pleasure.
