    Don’t know if anyone else is interested, but I’d like to know a little bit of history to your property. Even as overgrown as it was you were able to vision a future! 😊. I wonder how many people just thought it ugly & too much work?🤔
    Whatever you decide you’ve got me hooked now lolol. 👵🏻👩‍🌾❣️😊

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sure! At one time it was a place where they raised racing champion thoroughbreds. It was also a tree and plant nursery. I don't know which it was first, or if they were ever in operation at the same time.

      Thank you 😊. I’m sure it was a beautiful place & to see that kind of horse grazing around. And a perfect place to raise trees. I’m so glad you decided to take on such a major project for your homestead. Would be really nice if you could find a picture or two of past living.
      Love watching as you clear & put your own style on it. 👵🏻👩‍🌾❣️

    A ton of character in the red barn. Couple that with all that paved parking area and the possibilities are amazing. Wedding venue, restaurant, plant nursery, All it needs is money and time. How much you are willing to spend on both determines whether to keep it or not.

    Had another thought about the Red Barn. It’s an iconic structure on a rural property. I think otherwise the decision to demo it would be easier. But when you mentioned a basketball court or skateboard area for your children I got to thinking. Reno the facade. That’s the part you’d like to keep. Then just go back 6-8 feet, maybe only one story - keep the full facade like the false second story facades on old western buildings - and make it a playhouse and/or sports equipment, garden furniture storage area and/or workshop for yourself.

    I believe I would tear it down, by dismantling it there is a lot of good lumber in there. Plus when it’s gone you will haves concrete pad to build on. A plow shed would be nice there to store the saved lumber and equipment storage.

    Just happened on your channel with the land clearing video, wow, y'all have your work cut out. Pun intended? 😜
    3:20 With the price of lumber, might cost more to rebuild, maybe something to consider? Maybe pull off the siding so can better inspect? Agree if more then one or two posts are rotted, has to come down due to being unsafe. Hope this helps.
    Did the door hinges on the red barn pull out?

    • @livingon80

    Personally I would tack a section out of the siding in the worst part say around the poll that is rotted off at the bottom then see what you have, then strip some siding off the best part of the red barn and see what you have then decided what to do then price thing's up, you have the equipment to tack it down or you hav3 the expense of the rebuild witch is going to cost, but definitely save all the oak bords ((possible)) they are some beautiful timber.

    Reclaiim the wood, you'll be money ahead. If the trusses are good, save em and wrap them in cheap plastic tarping. Demo the red barn, it'll be a money pit as the skeleton isn't up to par anyway. You said it, you don't need it, demo.

    What to do with the red barn?.... hmmm. This building is at the end of its natural life. I say take it down. The slab foundation is good, so rebuilding should not be a problem...given you have the money to do it. I think you could monetize a new red barn by creating a wedding venue, as Allison suggested. Some of the trusses might be ok to use in the new barn.
