It's unbelievable how well thought out this product is. I initially installed it as a quick workaround to my ISP's CGNAT but the more videos I watch, the more I fell in love with it. Well done guys!
This was a straight forward explanation. I'm not trying to dismiss the blogposts and documentation on Tailscale's website, but this was to the point and with a tangible example, thank you. On a random question, how would you (or Tailscale) suggest to setup Tailscale on a single node Proxmox cluster? At the moment, I have it running on the host as a subnet router, but when using an IP address from my LANs CIDR as DNS (there's a DNS there to respond to queries), I have to disable magic DNS, and set --accept-dns=false or my proxmox host won't resolve queries
Had the same issue, I noticed when I put tailscale on Proxmox all of my LXC containers no longer resolved DNS queries. I’m not exactly sure why, but using the -accept-dns=false flag solved that issue for me.
Fantastic, thank you! I was worried the traffic is terminated by relays and stopped using it just before I send something sensitive. This explains a lot. Perhps it's good to emphasize in the CLI? maybe not. Thanks
This is really good, i have test funnel and it works like a charm. but i do wonder tho, does tailscale funnel are DDoS proof, i can't really find it anywhere on tailscale funnel doc. if apparently it is not DDoS proof, then I can configure it by myself, unfortunately tailscale funnel are not forwarding client's origin IP Address, it always logging that localhost are the one calling my local API. since I need this information, is there any work around? or perhaps you can add this mechanism for your future development.. anyway, thanks for the great product 👍👍
Is it possible to just completly expose the device over funnel, not just a port? And second question, is it possible, that the funnel is running constantly and not stopping in some time?
Any chance you could post a tutorial that shows how to set up Serve and Funnel (CLI Steps) on a Mac computer? Been unsuccessfully trying to host an IP cam publicly on port 8090 via Tailscale-Thanks
If the DNS record gets created when we first create the device / connect it to tailscale, does this mean that DNS advertising times need to be taken into account when setting this up no a new device / docker with sidecar for the very first time? Edit: As the documentation clearly states - Yes, it may take some time, until the records are propagated.
As I am behind cgnat cant portforward. its against cloudflate tunnels tos so can we use it for plex ? My question is, is it legal as I think if no other provider is allowing why will you. Just a thought. and I know about the soft limits I am using taildrop feature daily and established direct connection in in all of my devices. want to use plex when I am out of station where I cant use tailscale.
I can’t praise Tailscale enough, it’s such a marvelous software. Great job Tailscale team!
lol

With this explanation it certainly much easy to understand than those gibberish documentation on website.

Leveraging Funnel is a fantastic way to expose a VTT like FoundryVTT so that you can play all your favorite tabletop RPG's secured by Tailscale. :D
Ooo I was going to check if foundry worked thanks for specifically mentioning it!
I ❤ Tailscale
